As a campground located within a national forest (Kisatchie National Forest), Lotus Campground's operations, including pricing and any special offers, are typically managed by the U.S. Forest Service or an authorized concessionaire. While specific, short-term promotional deals are less common than at private campgrounds, there are standard ways that visitors can access discounts or cost-effective options:
- America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Series: These passes (e.g., Annual Pass, Senior Pass, Access Pass for people with permanent disabilities, Military Pass) offer discounts on fees for federal recreation sites, including many campgrounds. The Senior Pass and Access Pass often provide a 50% discount on standard amenity fees (like camping fees) at Forest Service operated sites.
- Forest Service Fee-Free Days: The U.S. Forest Service often participates in national fee-free days throughout the year, which typically waive day-use fees at recreation sites. While this usually doesn't apply to camping fees, it can reduce the overall cost if you are planning to utilize other amenities during your visit.
- Long-Term Stay Discounts: Some national forest campgrounds might offer slightly reduced rates for extended stays (e.g., weekly rates vs. nightly). It's worth inquiring directly.
The best way for Louisianans to inquire about any current rates, potential discounts, or pass applicability is to directly contact the Kisatchie National Forest Ranger Station or Lotus Campground using the provided phone numbers. Customer Reviews
Hey awesome place to go and stay the people that runs it . is some great people has an RV hookup with electric . Also have restroom with shower .out in the middle of kisatchie National Forest.have horses trail n hunting .really great place if you like the out doors n camping n sit around camp fire at night .
Beautiful, this forest in Kisatchie is the best real forest I've seen this side of the South. It reminds me of a toned down version of the pacific northwest forests with less rain and warmer weather. The campsite itself was impressively well maintained and am glad I called the ranger station to ask them about it first. They were very helpful and made sure I found a site to stay at my kids would enjoy.
Rode the Sandstone trail
Enjoy all of the camp grounds in the area.
They have several new RV sites that were recently added, with RV pads - the one we are on - site 12, is very nice and flat! We have a 28 foot trailer and it fits nicely. The owner is very nice, prices are good: $25 per night. We don't have horses, but there are places for horses here. It's just by Lotus Camp which is not the same as this place - this is LOTUS HILL Campground, and Lotus Camp in Kisatchie has no hookups - is a typical national forest campground.
