Love's RV Hookup About
For us Texans who are frequently on the road with our RVs, finding a convenient and reliable place to stop for the night or a quick refresh is often a crucial part of our journey. Many of us are familiar with the Love's Travel Stop brand, known for offering essential services to travelers. Love's RV Hookup locations typically aim to extend that convenience to RVers, providing a straightforward place to hook up and rest. Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, is one such location that travelers passing through East Texas might consider for their next stop.
Located strategically along major travel routes, these RV hookup spots are generally designed for ease of access for those looking for a quick and no-frills overnight stay. While some Love's locations are highly rated by RVers, it's important to approach each individual location with an understanding of its specific offerings and potential considerations. This particular location in Van, TX, provides the basic hookup services you'd expect from a travel stop, aiming to offer a practical solution for weary travelers needing power, water, and a place to empty tanks.
This article aims to provide a factual overview of Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, drawing on available public information and customer feedback to help fellow Texans make informed decisions about whether this stop aligns with their travel plans and RV needs. We'll cover its location, the services it offers, and some key points that previous visitors have highlighted, ensuring you have a clear picture before you arrive.
Location and Accessibility
Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, is conveniently located at 1188 S Oak St, Van, TX 75790, USA. This address places it directly off a major thoroughfare, likely providing very easy access for RVers traveling through the East Texas region. Its proximity to Interstate 20 (I-20), a primary East-West artery through Texas, makes it a particularly attractive option for those on long-haul journeys who need a quick stop without straying far from their route.
Van, TX, itself is a small town in Van Zandt County, situated roughly equidistant between Dallas and Tyler. While it offers a quiet, small-town atmosphere, its primary advantage for RVers stopping at Love's is its strategic position along a busy interstate corridor. This means travelers can easily pull off the highway, access the RV hookup facilities, and quickly get back on their way.
Accessibility within the RV hookup area is a key consideration, especially for those with larger rigs. While the location is generally designed for quick access, some customers with big rigs (e.g., 44 feet) have noted that maneuvering and parking can be challenging due to design, including sloped lots and the placement of the dump station near the entrance. This feedback is particularly relevant for those driving larger recreational vehicles, suggesting that careful navigation might be required, and it might not be the most ideal spot for extended stays that involve frequent in-and-out movements. However, for a simple overnight stay where the primary goal is convenience off the interstate, its location is certainly advantageous for passing travelers.
Services Offered
- RV Hookups: The primary service offered is dedicated RV hookup sites, which are intended to provide essential utilities for overnight or short-term stays. These typically include electrical hookups (voltage not specified, but usually 30 and/or 50 amp service).
- Water Connection: Sites are equipped with water connections, allowing RVers to fill their fresh water tanks or have a direct hookup for use inside their rig. However, customer reviews have indicated that water pressure can be very low, taking "over an hour to fill my tank" and potentially affecting functionality like flushing toilets.
- Dump Station: A designated dump station is available for emptying black and grey water tanks. Customer feedback suggests that the dump station might be "poorly located" and could "block parking spaces" or be at "the edge of the entrance," which could pose a challenge for accessibility, especially for larger vehicles.
- Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi service is offered at the location. However, reviews indicate a specific pricing model where "one day of free Wi-Fi" is provided, after which there might be a charge, potentially "five dollars a night per TV" or per device, which some users found less convenient than a flat fee.
- Power Hookups: Electricity is available at the sites. A specific issue noted by customers is that the power may need to be "turned on inside" by staff who may not be fully trained on the "new camping program," potentially leading to delays in getting power to the RV.
- Pet Area: The location does offer a dog area. However, there have been notes about pet owners leaving dog waste in several areas, indicating potential inconsistencies in cleanliness in this specific zone.
Features / Highlights
- Convenient Location off I-20: One of the primary advantages of Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, is its strategic placement directly off Interstate 20. This makes it an incredibly convenient stop for RVers traveling cross-state who need easy access for an overnight stay without significant detours.
- Basic Essential Hookups: The park provides the fundamental services that RVers typically need for a short stop: electricity, water, and a dump station. This allows travelers to refresh their tanks and power their RVs.
- Familiar Brand for Travelers: As part of the Love's Travel Stop network, many RVers are already familiar with the brand's presence and associate it with convenient amenities often found at truck stops, such as fuel, food, and restrooms.
- Dog Area for Pets: The presence of a designated dog area is a positive feature for RVers traveling with pets, providing a space for their animals to stretch their legs.
- Potential for Quick Overnight Stays: For those whose priority is simply a place to sleep and connect to basic utilities for a single night, the park can serve its purpose as a convenient layover spot on a longer journey.
It's important to acknowledge that customer reviews have highlighted several significant considerations regarding features that may impact the overall experience:
- Sloped Lots: A common issue noted is that some lots, specifically Lot 3, are significantly sloped, making it "hard to get the rv level," which can be a major inconvenience for comfortable living inside the RV.
- Low Water Pressure: Reviews indicate very low water pressure, which can lead to extended tank fill times ("over an hour to fill my tank") and even impact basic functions like "couldn't even flush our toilet."
- Challenging Power Activation: Issues with staff training on the "new camping program" for turning on power have been reported, causing delays and frustration for guests needing electricity.
- Poorly Located Dump Station: The dump station's placement has been criticized for potentially "blocking parking spaces" and being "at the edge of the entrance," making it difficult to access, especially for larger rigs.
- Wi-Fi Pricing Structure: The per-device or per-TV Wi-Fi charge after a free day was found inconvenient by some users, who would prefer a flat fee.
- Big Rig Maneuverability Concerns: RVers with large rigs (e.g., 44 feet) have explicitly stated that the location is "poorly designed" for their size and they "would not choose this location again," indicating potential challenges with turns and overall space.
- Cleanliness of Dog Area: While a dog area exists, reviews mention instances of dog waste being left in multiple spots, suggesting inconsistent cleanliness.
Promotions or Special Offers
Based on the provided customer reviews, Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, appears to have a pricing model that includes "one day of free Wi-Fi." Beyond this initial free period, it seems there may be an additional charge, potentially "five dollars a night per TV" or per device, for continued Wi-Fi access. This specific structure, where additional services like Wi-Fi might incur separate, incremental charges after an initial complimentary period, is a key point for travelers to be aware of.
As part of the larger Love's Travel Stops network, there might be loyalty programs or general promotions offered across all Love's locations that could apply, such as discounts on fuel or in-store purchases for professional drivers or members of specific programs. However, no specific RV park-related promotions beyond the initial free Wi-Fi day were explicitly mentioned in the provided customer feedback.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For us Texans traversing the vast stretches of our state, especially along major arteries like I-20, convenience is often king for an overnight RV stop. Love's RV Hookup in Van, TX, serves a specific niche for local RVers: those seeking a highly accessible, no-frills, quick overnight layover. Its direct proximity to the interstate means minimal deviation from your travel plans, making it suitable for quick power and water hookups, and a place to rest before continuing a long journey across East Texas. If your priority is literally just a spot to park, connect to basic utilities, and get some sleep without a lengthy detour, this location can serve that purpose effectively.
However, it's crucial for Texans to manage expectations, particularly for those with larger rigs or who anticipate needing robust, consistent services. Feedback regarding sloped lots, very low water pressure, and potential issues with power activation indicates that this location might be best suited for smaller RVs or travelers who are accustomed to troubleshooting minor issues and are primarily seeking basic functionality rather than a full-service RV park experience. For a simple and quick stop, it offers the fundamental amenities that a Love's Travel Stop aims to provide to RVers on the move.
Ultimately, if you're a Texan passing through Van and simply need a convenient, easily accessible place to hook up for a few hours of rest before resuming your journey, Love's RV Hookup offers that utility. It provides a practical solution for a specific travel need, but it's important to be prepared for some of the operational quirks noted by previous visitors, particularly if you have a big rig or anticipate needing reliable high water pressure or seamless power activation. For a straightforward overnight stop, it remains an option for the road-weary Texan.
Customer Reviews
We have stayed at Loves RV Stops before and they were great. This one is terrible. Lot 3 slopes so bad it was hard to get the rv level. The water pressure is so low that we couldn’t even flush our toilet. Then we couldn’t get the power on. They have to turn it on inside, but no one knew how. They said they were not trained on this new camping program. I had to call another Loves RV Stop and ask them to call this manager and explain how to turn it on so we could have power. Definitely not worth $50.
Space 3 is sloped, pet owner left dog poop in several area, only 1 poorly located dump that blocks parking spaces and has your vehicle at the edge of the entrance, water pressure so low it took over an hour to fill my tank! This particulate location is poorly designed if you have a big rig. Ours is 44 feet, and I would not choose this location again.
Was disappointed to say the least. The only advantage was the electrical hookup, that cost double what it would have cost to run my generator. It took several trips inside to get that to even work and the store employees had no idea how to fix the issue which turned out to be the breakers in their box being turned off. The water connection didn’t work, so not sure why it was even there. The store employees came out and looked at it too and couldn’t figure out how to get the water to come out of the right place, it was coming out the bottom of the hose bib and there is no valve or anything to turn to direct it to the hose connection. Honestly it was a waste of $60. The concept is great but I could have stayed for free in the truck parking and paid the $10 dump fee and saved the “camp site” fee.
Clean enough, lots of traffic noise. Worst of it is these are Not Full Hookups. Dump is separate and an additional $10!!! We had parked, leveled and started to set up and saw the situation with the dump. We pushed everything back in, went to dump and then came back to set up. So we paid 60$ for a parking spot at a truck stop. Loves RV has the right idea but their price point for this location is ridiculous. We stayed at a Loves RV spot in Utah that had campfire rings, laundry, bath house and was off the path of fueling traffic for less and it was FHU.
Worst place to park… generally Loves has great rv parking but this one of the worst and I should be refunded the $55 parking fee.. the pads are not level and the spot had trash and cigarette butts all over it.. the pad is above the dirt and it was pouring rain so we had a big mud puddle of trash.. the water spicket was broken and there is no sewer connection… people were walking around and we did not feel safe… there should be no fees for parking here…
