5436 US-209, Lykens, PA 17048, USA
Lykens Valley Roamers Campground, situated in the scenic Lykens Valley of Central Pennsylvania, is best understood not as a sprawling, commercial vacation resort, but as a more intimate, community-focused camping environment. The nature of this facility, as suggested by local feedback, leans toward being a smaller campground, likely structured around a seasonal or membership-based model—a common feature in many established Pennsylvania camping communities. For local users, this can translate to a strong sense of community and a familiar, convenient place to keep a camper or trailer close to home throughout the spring and summer seasons.
The local reviews paint a picture of a space with distinct characteristics. While some visitors find the atmosphere to be tight-knit, clean, and family-friendly, enjoying the organized activities and close proximity to fellow campers, others have pointed to challenges typical of older, smaller parks, such as close spacing, basic facilities, and occasional maintenance issues. However, the consistent thread is that Lykens Valley Roamers Campground is a dedicated local institution, providing a necessary and valued service for Pennsylvanians who prioritize a close-to-home, community-centric camping experience over extensive resort-style amenities. Understanding this focus is key for new visitors looking to integrate into this local environment.
Lykens Valley Roamers Campground boasts a highly accessible location for Central Pennsylvania residents. It is conveniently situated right on a main thoroughfare: 5436 US-209, Lykens, PA 17048, USA. This address places it directly in the Lykens Valley region of Dauphin County, known for its deep history in the coal industry, its pastoral setting, and its position nestled between the Berry and Mahantongo mountain ridges.
The location on US-209 ensures ease of travel from nearby population centers like Harrisburg, Lebanon, and Pottsville. For locals, this means less time spent on the road and more time enjoying their camper or the surrounding environment. This campground is by far the worst. The people are always very rude to me and my child I will never be back. I’m not the only one that has issues. A good handful of the people that camp can’t stand it. They have dogs that run wild here as well as it really just stinks like sewage. The bathrooms are spread very far apart the place really looks run down.
Jun 23, 2025 · Devon RobertsMy parents camp here and we love to visit. It's a much smaller campground and everyone is pretty close together but it's a club so I guess that makes sense. Its clean throughout and well taken care of. They have activities for the kids/campers once a month on their camp out weekend. Overall it's a cute little place.
Sep 03, 2023 · Nytasha ShinskieI have been a member of this campground for several years. It is a very friendly family place. There are always kids playing at the playground. Families and friends enjoying the outdoors. Fishing along the Creek. There is a spot to swim at your own risk. This is a membership only campground, so you must be a member or be visiting a member in order to be there.
Sep 27, 2023 · Jessica GallegosWe are a camping club, not a campground! We all work together to take care of campsites, the Building and grounds. We care for our own campsite and because we are Non-profit each individual campsite helps out and participates in activities/fundraisers to help raise money for the upkeep as well as the activities we do with the kids which the adults enjoy those as well. The second full weekend of every month we have our campout weekends where we usually have many things planned. It is a wonderful place to camp, you get to enjoy nature and also the wonderful people that camp with you
Jul 02, 2025 · Theresa GototweskiIf it rains you need to be careful you don't drown in the lake sized mud pits. Probably should be expected in an area that's a known flood zone I guess
