Location and Accessibility
Melody Acres RV Park is situated at 1009 E Blanchard Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67501, USA. This address places the RV park within the city of Hutchinson, a prominent city in Reno County, Kansas. Hutchinson is well-connected by state highways, making it reasonably accessible for RV travelers coming from various parts of Kansas and beyond. Being within city limits generally means convenient access to essential urban amenities and services.
Blanchard Avenue, as a local street, suggests that the park is integrated into a residential or mixed-use area of Hutchinson. While the park's exact position on the street dictates its immediate surroundings, its urban location generally ensures proximity to key facilities. However, one review mentioned "overgrown trees/bushes are blocking visibility to see if traffic is coming" when leaving the park. This suggests that while access to the street is present, caution may be required for larger RVs exiting the property dueaking into traffic. This is a practical detail for anyone navigating a larger vehicle, especially those unfamiliar with the area.
For Kansans, the park's location in Hutchinson means ready access to local grocery stores, gas stations, repair shops, and medical facilities. It also places campers within a reasonable driving distance of local attractions such as the Kansas State Fairgrounds, the Cosmosphere, and downtown Hutchinson's shops and restaurants, offering a blend of convenience for daily needs and recreational opportunities.
Services Offered
As an RV park, Melody Acres RV Park would typically offer fundamental services required for recreational vehicles. While specific details on the breadth of these services are not extensively provided in the given reviews, the core offerings are generally expected to include:
- RV Site Hookups: Standard RV parks provide individual sites with hookups for essential utilities. This would typically include electrical connections (ranging from 30-amp to 50-amp to accommodate various RVs), water hookups for fresh water supply, and sewer connections for waste disposal. These full hookups are critical for a comfortable and self-contained RV stay.
- Designated RV Lots: The park would offer clearly delineated lots designed to accommodate different sizes of RVs, including travel trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, and motorhomes. These lots provide the necessary space for parking and extending slide-outs.
- On-Site Management: As indicated by the reviews mentioning a "park manager," there is likely on-site management responsible for overseeing park operations, resident relations, and enforcing park rules. This includes handling issues like parking and behavior.
- Roadway Access: The park provides internal roadways for vehicles to navigate to and from individual RV sites. One review mentions issues with visibility due to "overgrown trees/bushes," indicating a need for caution, but the roadways themselves are present for access within the park.
Features / Highlights
Based on the provided customer reviews, the features and highlights of Melody Acres RV Park are perceived differently by various residents, pointing to areas that potential visitors should consider. While some aspects indicate room for improvement, the core function of providing RV spaces remains.
- Individual RV Lots: The park offers individual spaces for RVs, which is the fundamental service of any RV park, allowing residents to set up their mobile homes or temporary residences.
- On-Site Management: The presence of a park manager is a feature, providing a point of contact for residents regarding rules, issues, and inquiries. The effectiveness and consistency of management interactions appear to be a significant point of feedback, with some residents experiencing "harassment" over "petty stuff" and concerns about inconsistent rule enforcement regarding vehicles.
- Existing Infrastructure: The park has established infrastructure, including sites that can accommodate RVs and internal roadways for navigation. However, the mention of "overgrown trees/bushes blocking visibility" upon exit is a practical detail for large vehicle owners to be aware of.
- No Designated Storm Shelter: A notable highlight from a negative perspective is the lack of a storm shelter. In Kansas, where severe weather can occur, the absence of a designated storm shelter is a significant consideration for residents' safety during adverse weather events.
- Community Dynamics: The reviews describe a community with varied dynamics, including concerns about "rude and disrespectful" individuals and "tweakers coming and going all hours of the nite." For a local to find Melody Acres RV Park "suitable," it would likely depend on a high tolerance for these reported issues, or perhaps a primary need for an available RV spot in Hutchinson where other options are limited. It may be suitable for those looking for a very basic, no-frills option, provided they are fully aware of and comfortable with the reported environment. Prospective local residents are strongly encouraged to conduct a thorough personal visit, speak directly with management, and perhaps engage with current residents to get a comprehensive and real-time understanding of the park's current atmosphere and operational practices before committing to a stay.
Customer Reviews
Some people are made to have brand new ac covers while others are allowed to have broken, missing sections or duct taped. Use caution when leaving as the overgrown trees/bushes are blocking visibility to see if traffic is coming
Constantly being harrassed by park manager about some real petty stuff. Like taking the long way through the park. And Even when complied with there request. They still push for eviction, Can't have more than 2 vehicles at a place . But park manager can have 6 vehicles and parks them under carports where people ain't living and they live in a fifth wheel. No storm shelter. People are rude and disrespectful and has tweakers coming and going all hours of the nite.
Management acts as if it's a prison. And yells at people just driving in the park at them about how they aren't allowed to drive thru the park. Not even taking in to consideration that they mite be checking the park out to possibly renting but if they are gonna act that why would anyone rent from nazis!!!!!
A quiet and reasonably priced campground/mobile home park on Hutchinson's south side. It appears to have seen better days. Bathhouse and laundry facilities are adequate.. Some sites have shade, pull thrus have none. The couple that works there are very friendly and helpful, especially when I arrived feeling sick from the 100° heat and could not get the electricity to work. They got the AC on.and water hooked up for me while I cooled off. Thanks and God bless.
The management was easy to work with and super accommodating. You can't beat the price of $25/night for hookups with WiFi. It wasn't the most well maintained place we have stayed, but it served its purpose... and for that we are thankful. We would happily stay here again if we ever visit Hutch again.
