Brother made the reservations, he lives close by and frequently goes there. Sites were more than adequately level, paved. Enough room on either side to not feel like a parking lot. Enough trees for shade, grass/weeds covered the ground instead of bare spots (foxtail weed isn't good for the dogs, but daily inspections have kept them unharmed). Big paver stones around the sites are nice. My site, there was a 5' drop behind the camper down to the picnic table and fire pit, which worked out great during the cold north winds. We had never used shower houses before, but without sewer hookups, we gave them a shot ONLY because they were hot, had pressure, and were clean. If they were dumps, i'd rather shower in the camper and make multiple poo-tote runs full of gray tank water during our week+ long stay. Entry/exit road is eye opening, better put it in 1st gear down and back up, it's steep! The blind spots when getting back on the highway are less than ideal, but it's the ozarks and hilly. Overall, really liked the campground, every site was waterfront and well maintained. It's just a long drive for me (5+ hrs).
We visit this campground a few times a year. There are no bad sites, and most have water access. Bathrooms are kept clean and so are the grounds. The campground is easy to get into and easy to maneuver. Highly recommend.
Best campground in the area. Make your reservations 5-6 months in advance. It is exceptionally-well maintained, and every single spot has an outstanding view.
We had reservations for site #37 - a pull through site along the lake. But it was quite unlevel side to side - no way did we have enough blocks to get our rig situated safely, let alone unhook! It was a weekend and we knew the campground was booked but called the campground number anyway. The host called an individual who had not occupied his reserved site and found he was trying to cancel. She cancelled for him and called us right away. We were able to book that sight - #40 - just 3 down from our original reservation. So much more level!!! And that is true customer service! We were very lucky! We had a nice stay, enjoying the lake and the sunsets. This is a lovely COE park! Toured Branson one afternoon - but not a highlight for us. Keep in mind there is a fairly steep hill to descend into the park (and climb on the way out). Phone reception (Verizon) was good.
Beautiful area. Shoreline is a bit too rocky for my lab's comfort but we still had a good time. Campsites are nicely separate for sense of privacy. Only one shower house but still easily accessed.
