Location and Accessibility

Old River Campground is nestled at 670 Old River Loop, Rhinehart, LA 71363, USA. This address places it in the quiet, rural heart of Catahoula Parish in Central Louisiana. While it offers a secluded escape, its location provides a balance of tranquility and accessibility for locals looking to explore this less-traveled, yet beautiful, part of the state.

Accessing Old River Campground requires a keen eye, as indicated by a reviewer who advises looking for "the old river loop about a mile before it has you turning off on the right if you are coming from 84." This suggests the importance of following specific directions or, even better, calling the owners for guidance, as they are known to be "super sweet" and helpful. State Highway 84 is a key route in this area, connecting destinations across Central Louisiana.

For Louisianans, the campground's location means it’s within reasonable driving distance from various parts of the state. Larger towns and cities, while not immediately adjacent, are accessible for stocking up on supplies. Jonesville, a nearby town, offers basic amenities, while larger centers like Alexandria or Monroe are further away but can be reached for more extensive shopping or services. The appeal of Rhinehart is its untouched natural beauty, particularly its connection to the Old River and various fishing spots. This allows campers to truly disconnect from urban noise and immerse themselves in the bayou country, while still being able to access necessities when needed. Its proximity to natural water bodies underscores its suitability for fishing and water-based relaxation.

Google has this marked wrong, look for the old river loop about a mile before it has you turning off on the right if you are coming from 84. You will want to call the owners they are super sweet. This is a nice place to stay unfortunately it rained on us the time we were there, so we didn’t get to enjoy the fishing pond or just sit back and witch the river. Stop and see it, it is limited on space so not many people. Nice and quite.
