Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Pemaquid Point Campground is perfectly suited for Maine residents because it offers a premium coastal Maine experience with the comfort and reliability of a highly-rated family-owned business. For Mainers, who often appreciate local, non-corporate establishments, the family-centric and often volunteer-supported operations resonate deeply.
It serves as an affordable and convenient launchpad for exploring the MidCoast, a region often bypassed by those heading straight to Acadia. Locals can enjoy easy day trips to globally famous landmarks—the Pemaquid Lighthouse and the puffin cruises—before returning to a quiet, clean camp setting. The proximity to Pemaquid Beach and local seafood shacks allows residents to fully immerse themselves in the region’s best offerings without the long daily commutes typical of more remote campgrounds.
In short, Pemaquid Point Campground provides a high-value, authentic, and impeccably maintained MidCoast getaway that focuses on rest, family, and accessing the very best of coastal Maine charm.

It was great! We came up for the puffin cruise nearby and the campground was about 5 or 6 minutes away from that. We also had to book day-of (!!) after we booked a campsite in advance elsewhere that fell through last minute, which was a lifesaver. It was quiet and peaceful (although we were a group of 20-somethings, we tried to be respectful of our noise, as other guests seemed to be mostly families and retirees). Lots of flower pots and they were very respectful of the bird nesting on the porch of the office. It's very clean there as well. The area is great and we had a lovely time at Rachel Carson Salt Pond Preserve nearby. Our lot at first was in a very sunny area and they kindly allowed us to move to a more shady spot too upon request. The playground is really cool. Seems to be largely volunteer run (?) and I had a lot of lovely conversations with one of the volunteers there, and she gave us advice on the most scenic route down and recommendations for beaches and places to see!
Jul 27, 2025 · Olly PeckerWe just spent a wonderful week at this family owned campground. They work hard to keep everything in tip top shape. Bathhouse and laundry were spotless. Cute little office and gift shop. Very quiet park. Close to a lot of attractions: Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Pemaquid Beach Park, Hardy Boat Cruises and Shaws Wharf restaurant. No sewer hookups, but have a dumpstation.

Jul 26, 2025 · Julie HarrisNice little campground with hot showers, laundry, and ice available. Well-maintained and pleasant staff.
Jul 31, 2025 · Jim CollierSuper sweet, family-owned campground, with huge pots of flowers around all the public facilities. Sites are very close together but each site has water, picnic table, fire ring. (The office has public wifi. Once it quieted down Sunday we were able to join their network at our campsite, which was helpful, since we had no cell coverage.) Overall facilities are great. Staff is super nice. Bathrooms and showers are spotless. Laundry, ice, sinks for washing dishes, firewood for sale. Our fellow campers were great. Even though the campground was crowded, they quieted down fairly early in the evenings. If you are tent camping to enjoy the coast, this is a GREAT location. If you're the kind of person who prefers privacy and nature AT YOUR ACTUAL CAMPSITE, might not the best fit. Even though I am the latter sort of person -- usually camp at state and national parks!!! -- and was hesitant when I saw how crowded and close it was when we first arrived on a Saturday.... it worked out great! We really enjoyed being here and I highly recommend it.
