Customer Reviews
We recently stayed at this campground with our kids, and while there were some highlights, our overall experience was mixed. On the plus side, our kids had a great time making new friends, and the weekend activities at the pavilion were fun and well-organized. However, the campground felt almost too large to be managed effectively. There’s a lengthy list of rules, but it doesn’t seem like anyone is enforcing them. Campers regularly walked through our site with no regard for personal space, and etiquette was pretty much non-existent. A major safety concern was the number of kids driving golf carts recklessly. We witnessed a group of teens nearly crash into a younger child on an electric scooter — definitely not something you want to see on a family trip. The bathroom near our site was also disappointing. It smelled strongly of feces, and the attached showers reeked of sewage. On top of that, the water temperature was either freezing cold or scalding hot — no in-between. Lastly, we paid for four nights, not realizing that Sawmill City wasn't open, and the campground’s own facilities shut down by 2 p.m. during the week. That left us with very little to do outside of the weekend. This place has potential, especially for social kids, but it needs better oversight, maintenance, and transparency to be worth a return visit.
Hey we went home today on Memorial day and we had the best time with our granddaughters! The girls at the counter and all other employees were knowledgeable and nice! Thank you for the perfect holiday weekend ☺️
Our Memorial Day weekend trip started off Wednesday before the weekend and ended the Tuesday after. With little to report on the negative. We will focus on the positive and areas of improvement. Checkin was easy. Staff at front desk was super inviting and quick to get us checked in and settled in. We had deluxe sites with cement and gazebos. Which, with this forecast and weekend. Thank goodness we did as it gave us cover and a place to go during wind and rain. We had four sites total and one cabin. Here's what you don't know or are told. Before the weekend. All amenities are pretty much closed. What is open is arcade and front office / store for shortened hours. Arcade: KOA is not known for having or keeping things up to date. Thursday evening we enjoyed the arcade and " vintage / classic " arcade games. Pool and air hockey. Friday to Sunday. Allot of games didn't work / out of order and we just gave up. The fun park area was actually well taken care of. Go karts were fun. Putt putt was fun. Just a tad expensive. We didn't go more then once because it's just a tad outside the normal prices for these attractions. Example: go karts $ 8 a ride. Putt putt $ 6.00 The old town is quite cool and pricing is actually not what I expected. It was fair. KOA is also known as Kash On Arrival. And lots of it. But this was not the case. Golf cart rentals: Wont matter what I say here. We rented some. Had a blast riding around but surely not price friendly. $100 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. But to do once. Was quite fun. Other activities our group had a good time with. Pricing again was very fair. Just allot of nickles and dimes. KOA will piss you off with there absurd " extras ". $10 for more then two people. Which we got robbed for years as it applies to 21 and over. Our daughter was 20. So we ended up leaving this to late and got screwed. But they will Nickle and Dime you to death. $10 per night for a tent. $5 or $20 for an extra visitor. And so on and so fourth. We don't stay at many KOA's for these reasons. But like one other reviewer said. They don't care if you come back or not. There will be 100 other people booking behind you. We really liked this park. The closeness to outside groceries and other stops. Like coffee. Donuts. Cafe's and what not. And an RV repair center down the street. We will return. Just use our days accordingly to know when amenities will be open and available.
Great campground with a combination of cabins, tents, and RVs. Friendly staff and great service. Would have given it 5 stars if their shops and activities had been opened.
This is the 2nd year in a row that we have had to experience the campground being infested with skunks. I wish "infested" was an exaggeration but it's not. By 9:30PM to 5AM you cannot be outside without encountering multiple skunks. Our neighbors 2 dogs were sprayed last night. Our new neighbors tonight that just arrived packed in an early night & even started to pack the car at 1 point and just leaving for good. If you have a pet or kids it's especially scary. The skunks walk right into your campsite, on your porches, etc Walking to the bathroom middle of the night I just encountered 3. Last year we gave some grace & assumed of course they would have it remedied for next year and pay a professional exterminator, but nope. Sadly our large group will not be returning after 2 trips ruined. We even booked our sites out if the woods, backed up to a huge parking lot, and barely a single tree...... didn't matter...skunks everywhere. Front office says they set traps and "Thank you for your feedback". This place makes so much money they don't care if some people never return or have a bad experience because this place will always have new people coming and booking it solid. If you're good with being INSIDE only 9PM to 6AM you shouldn't have a problem 🙌
