For Michigan locals, the idea of a true getaway often conjures images of serene lakeshores, lush forests, or perhaps a welcoming community where you can truly settle in and unwind. While many campgrounds cater to short-term stays, there’s a growing desire for places that offer a more extended, stable, and community-focused camping experience. For those seeking a long-term home away from home, or even a full-time RV lifestyle, the criteria for choosing a campground shift from a simple overnight stop to a genuine residential choice.
Michigan’s natural beauty, from the tranquil waters of Lake Huron to its picturesque rural landscapes, provides an ideal backdrop for such extended stays. The appeal of an RV park that feels like a neighborhood, complete with friendly faces and consistent amenities, is strong for many. We loved staying here. We stayed all winter. The 2 park managers are great to work with. They do what they can to help you if needed. They kept their roads plowed all winter when needed. The sights are very nice with full service. We will go back again. Perfect for full time rvers.
Apr 18, 2025 · Ethel MooreThis was our first experience with an rv park and it has ruined our expectations for finding another park similar. This RV park has it all from the activities to the community! Its fenced in, gated, security patrolled. One of my favorite features of Fort Trodd is that it's only available to monthly or 5 or 6 month campers which means you get to know your neighbors and there's not constant noise from coming and going. It has a fenced in dog run. Bath house. Laundry facilities. 2 lakes. Swimming. Fishing. Playground. Pavilions. Trees. Waterfront sites. Clean. Organized activities. Pleasant guests and staff. In a quiet, safe and rural setting yet not far from all the stores/shopping. Great for retirees, workers and families alike. We loved our time at Fort Trodd and have yet to find another rv park that comes close in comparison.
