The trees! Oh the trees! If you love sycamores & maples....you will find comfort nestled under these canopies & feel like you are in an old growth park. Then there is the river. It's slow moving current will hypnotize you to a point of relaxation that you will start breathing right again. You will want to sit around the firepit all day staring at the water while reading your book; sipping a hot or cold beverage. Or you may decide to take your flat bottom kayak, which means easy kayaking, to the calm waters (ladies & children also) fishing until it's time for your nap. My husband loves fishing here & has caught many a fish that are snapshot worthy. This water is calm enough for family tubing with easy public access in & out. The trip can last 3-4 hours depending on water levels & on how slow you wanna go. Or...just hang out right in front of the campground on your tubes connected with friends & a cooler. Yes...we have a camper there & yes...this is what we do & how we feel when we go to the River's Edge. This campground is still young enough that there aren't too many neighbors yet & even when it hits full capacity the trees help give privacy. The owners are thoughtful, hard working & kind. They just want others to experience & enjoy what they have known for years to be a special hidden emerald paradise along the river which while driving there...truly goes from city to country within minutes! While it's away from the busyness of the city it is also close enough for the convienence of stores, restaurants, museums, events & even US Bike Route 50 which continues along the Great Allegheny Passage which also follows the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath bike trail. All this within 10-15 minutes away from camp. We love this place so much that honestly...we didn't want to write this review because we don't want anyone else to know about it.....but we know we can't keep it to ourselves. Come & see it.........or don't. Haha ..........just kidding.
