Promotions or Special Offers

As Rocky Gap State Park Campground is operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the concept of "promotions" or "special offers" differs from those typically found at private commercial campgrounds or the adjacent Rocky Gap Casino Resort. State park fees are generally standardized and set by the DNR.

However, there are still aspects that provide value or can be considered "offers" for campers:

  • Affordable Rates: State park camping fees are generally quite affordable compared to many private campgrounds, providing excellent value for the facilities and natural beauty offered.
  • Seasonal Pricing: While not a discount, rates may vary slightly between peak season (roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day) and the off-peak season, making shoulder seasons potentially more budget-friendly.
  • Online Reservation Convenience: The Maryland DNR's park reservation system allows for easy online booking, which can save time and secure desired campsites, especially for popular loops or during busy times.
  • Annual Passes: For frequent visitors to Maryland State Parks, purchasing a Maryland State Park Pass can offer savings on day-use entrance fees to parks across the state, though it typically does not directly reduce camping fees.
  • Educational Programs & Free Events: The park often hosts ranger-led programs and occasional free events (like "Free Paddle" days for boat rentals or "tackle loaner" programs for fishing) at the Nature Center, providing added value and enriching experiences without extra cost.

It is important to note that any specific package deals or discounts advertised by third-party booking sites (like Orbitz or Travelocity) generally apply to the Rocky Gap Casino & Resort hotel, not directly to the state park campground. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on current camping rates, specific site availability, and any park-specific programs that might enhance your visit, always consult the official Maryland Department of Natural Resources website for Rocky Gap State Park or contact the park directly.

I never see so many campsites in one state park. Restroom and bathhouse are 8 out of 10. They keep it clean and nice. Hot water is also good for anytime. My favorite is the lake side trail. So beautiful and very relaxing and easily done. Between Each campsite have a panty the space.wishing that’s some Electric site near the lake.

Amazing place for camping! They have an artificial lake as well for fishing. The place was beautiful and well maintained. We went there during rain and still had a great time. Management could have been better. We were told we could arrive till 10pm, but no one was at the campground registration office and the gate was closed. Repeated calls went in vain, since we were not able to find the code easily to open the door. It turns out we were sent that as an SMS. The camp host, located in the Ash loop, was very helpful! They guided us towards our campsite in the dark, and even lent us their lighter which we had forgotten at home

We tried Hickory loop for 2 nights in October. The campground was nice. The site itself was good, but I noticed that there are nicer and larger sites. Very difficult to tell from the website. The facilities are good; the bathroom was clean and the showers were clean with hot water. The lake is a few minute away on feet. All in all, it is a good place for camping. The part that we didn’t like was related to light and sound noise from some of the other campers, with generators being used after 10 am.
