RiverView Park and Campground in Brimley, MI, offers a no-frills, value-focused option that serves as an excellent base for adults and families primarily seeking a clean, safe place to park their RV and explore the surrounding area. Operated as a Tribal (Native American) Campground, it provides essential amenities and a strategic location, making it a solid choice for those prioritizing convenience and budget over extensive on-site recreational activities.
RiverView Park and Campground is best described as "barebones," a term that, for many seasoned campers, signifies efficiency and a focus on core needs. It’s not designed to be a destination in itself with a multitude of activities, but rather a comfortable and economical launchpad for your UP adventures. If your idea of a perfect camping trip involves spending your days visiting local attractions, enjoying scenic drives, and simply returning to a quiet, clean site for the night, then RiverView Park and Campground fits the bill perfectly. Its value-for-money proposition is consistently highlighted by guests, making it a smart choice for short stays or as a strategic hub for exploring the eastern Upper Peninsula.
RiverView Park and Campground is strategically located at 12084 W Lakeshore Dr, Brimley, MI 49715, USA. This Upper Peninsula address places it in a prime position for exploring many of the region’s natural wonders and cultural attractions. Brimley itself is a peaceful community on the shores of Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay, offering a tranquil escape from more bustling areas.
The campground’s accessibility is a significant advantage. It's situated right across the street from a casino, offering convenient entertainment options for adults. From the campground, you can also catch glimpses of a Lake Superior bay, adding to the serene ambiance. When it comes to venturing further, its location provides excellent access to major UP destinations: Sault Ste. Marie, home to the famous Soo Locks, is just 30 minutes away. Iconic natural attractions like Tahquamenon Falls and the charming town of St. Ignace are approximately an hour's drive. For lighthouse enthusiasts, the Iroquois Lighthouse is around 10 minutes away, and the historic Whitefish Point Lighthouse is about 55 minutes, home to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. While the roads within the park are gravel, they are described as well-maintained, ensuring smooth navigation for RVs. This central yet peaceful location makes RiverView Park and Campground an ideal base for extensive day trips throughout the eastern UP.
RiverView Park and Campground provides essential services aimed at ensuring a comfortable, albeit straightforward, stay for its guests, particularly those in RVs:
RiverView Park and Campground, while minimalist in its offerings, boasts several key features and highlights that appeal to its target audience:
RiverView Park and Campground’s primary "promotion" is its inherently affordable and consistent pricing, which offers significant value, particularly when compared to other lodging options in the Upper Peninsula. With full hookup sites typically costing around $35 per night and water/electric sites around $25 per night, the campground provides budget-friendly rates that make it an attractive option for both short-term stays and longer trips. These rates allow campers to allocate more of their vacation budget to exploring the myriad of attractions in the eastern Upper Peninsula. While specific seasonal discounts or bundled offers are not widely advertised, the campground’s everyday low pricing serves as its constant special offer. For Michiganders, RiverView Park and Campground in Brimley stands out as a highly suitable option for a particular type of Upper Peninsula adventure. Its primary appeal lies in its exceptional value. The consistently low prices for both full hookup and water/electric sites make it an incredibly budget-friendly choice, allowing locals to save their money for experiencing the abundant attractions of the eastern UP – from the engineering marvel of the Soo Locks to the majestic beauty of Tahquamenon Falls and the rich maritime history at Whitefish Point. This focus on affordability is a major draw for families and individuals looking to make the most of their Michigan vacation dollars.
The campground’s "barebones" nature, with a focus on providing a clean and quiet place to park an RV and sleep, is actually a benefit for many locals. It caters perfectly to those who see their campground as a base camp rather than a destination in itself. If your Michigan adventure involves active days exploring the region, hiking trails, visiting lighthouses, or enjoying the casino across the street, RiverView provides that necessary, comfortable, and quiet respite at the end of the day. As one review states, it's "better suited for adults or short stays than kids," which can be ideal for couples or friends seeking a peaceful getaway without the constant hum of recreational activities typically found at larger, more expensive parks. While some organizational hiccups were noted ("unorganized" staff, unkempt grass, issues with dump station water), the fundamental positive feedback about clean facilities, quiet sites, and excellent value ("Great value for the money. I’d stay again if we were just looking to have a clean place to sleep while visiting local attractions") suggests that for the right type of Michigan traveler, RiverView Park and Campground offers precisely what's needed for a practical, enjoyable, and affordable UP experience.

A place to park your RV. Good Tribal (Native American) Campground for adults and families looking to stay a couple nights just to sleep in their RV while you visit local attractions. Campground has nice, older, but overall maintained facilities. Very good value. Nothing for kids to do while there. About half sites are full hook up ($35/night) and the rest have water and electricity ($25). The campground doesn’t have any recreational activities for anyone. Wild Bluffs Golf Course is right next to campground. Barebones is best way to describe. There is a beach to swim at with a small playground for kids a half mile north of the camp. Casino is across the street. A Lake Superior bay can be seen across the street from the campground. Taquamenon Falls & St. Ignace is an hour away. Sault Ste. Marie is 30 minutes. Around 10 minutes to Iroquois Lighthouse and 55 minutes to Whitefish Point Lighthouse. The parks grass tends to be on the high side. Appears to be at least a couple weeks since last cut. Better suited for adults or short stays than kids. Restrooms and showers are clean and maintained but dimly lit. Has 2 dump stations as well but the water didn’t work to clean out your hoses. Roads in park are gravel but maintained. Fire pits on every lot. Sites are on the tight side but wide enough to park your RV. Great value for the money. I’d stay again if we were just looking to have a clean place to sleep while visiting local attractions.
Jul 05, 2023 · Jerry RThe place is very unorganized. They hire people and throw them into a job they don't know a day later. They first told us to find a site we wanted, then they lost our paperwork and didn't know we had paid. The next day we went to the office to extend our stay by a day and they lost that as well so they couldn't understand why we hadn't checked out. They don't take care of the grounds at all. Not sure the last time they mowed or trimmed. They did keep up with the trash pickup. The plus is the sites are nice size and quiet.
Aug 25, 2022 · Barbara WachobWe averaged $29 / night for W/E50/S/C/I for a very level, dirt, sunny pull through site. The campground was crowded when we arrived on a Saturday and the internet was poor. By Monday after most everybody left it was much, much better. The fantastic cable system offered over 100 channels though several of them were music channels. I rated this 5 stars because of the value!! This campground is within 30 minutes of Ste St. Marie. We toured the locks on the boat tour and it was fascinatng to learn about them and how vital they have been historically to our country. Whitefish Point is with the Greater Lakes Shipwreck Museum is an hour away which chronicles the history of upper great lakes ship wrecks. Also Tahquamenon Falls State Park is an hour away. The upper falls in the park are wonderful.
Oct 25, 2021 · Philip PetragliaWe love coming to Bay Mills Campground in Brimley, Michigan. The weather was awesome. We enjoyed the foods we cooked on the bonfire. The free wifi was not the best, it wasn't even user friendly, I found it to be a pain. It kicks you off for no reason, then you have to go through the long process of getting wifi connected again, fridays and saturdays it doesn't work.
Jul 10, 2022 · Lisa A. KarafaHave stayed at Bay Mills campground for a few years. The amenities are great, wi fi, cable, electric, water. A lot of sites, all pull through. Was there in July restrooms, showers and laundry where closed because of covid. Going back for a night next week.
