Rocky Creek Campground About
Hello, Ohio outdoor enthusiasts! When you’re planning your next camping trip, you’re likely looking for a place that offers a blend of comfort, convenience, and connection with nature. Rocky Creek Campground, located in Centerville, Ohio, aims to provide a unique option for those seeking a camping experience in the southern part of the state. This campground offers a different kind of stay, focusing on both short-term visits and longer-term cabin and RV rentals.
Finding the right campground can sometimes be a challenge, with varying amenities and environments. Rocky Creek Campground presents itself as a potential spot for locals looking for a straightforward place to park their RV or rent a cabin. While some aspects of any campground might have room for improvement, understanding what to expect upfront is key to a positive experience. This article will provide you with a factual overview of Rocky Creek Campground, based on publicly available information and real customer insights, to help you decide if it's the right fit for your next Ohio adventure.
We'll delve into the campground's specific location, what services and accommodations you can expect, and any notable features that define the experience at Rocky Creek. Our goal is to give you a clear, engaging, and informative perspective from a local Ohioan's point of view, ensuring you're well-equipped with the details needed to plan your visit effectively.
Rocky Creek Campground is situated at 655 Ebb Tomblin Rd, Centerville, OH 45685, USA. While the specific "Centerville" in the address might sometimes cause confusion with the larger Centerville near Dayton, this particular campground is located in the southern part of Ohio, near other communities such as Thurman, Oak Hill, and Jackson. This places it within the rolling hills and wooded areas characteristic of Southern Ohio, offering a scenic backdrop for your stay.
The campground is reported to be located "right off Rt. 35," making it reasonably accessible for those traveling by vehicle. Route 35 is a major highway that runs through Southern Ohio, connecting various towns and providing relatively direct access from different parts of the state. While the immediate surrounding area might be rural, the convenience of being near a main route is a benefit for campers.
It’s important to note that, as some reviews suggest, the "creek" mentioned in the name might refer to a small runoff rather than a large, pristine waterway. This detail is important for managing expectations regarding the natural surroundings immediately adjacent to the sites. Despite this, the overall setting aims to provide a quiet environment, often tucked away in a more secluded area that appeals to those looking for a simple escape from more bustling locales. For Ohioans, its location offers a relatively easy drive into a more natural, albeit rustic, setting compared to urban campgrounds.
Rocky Creek Campground primarily focuses on providing basic accommodations for RVs and cabins. Based on available information, here are the services you can generally expect:
RV Sites: The campground offers RV sites, often described as having full hookups (water, sewer, and electric – likely 30/50 amp service). This is a crucial service for most modern RVers, ensuring comfort during their stay.
Cabin Rentals: Rocky Creek Campground also provides cabin rentals, which can be booked on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis. This caters to those who prefer a more structured stay without bringing their own RV or tent.
Clean Bathrooms/Shower House: One positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer is that the "Bathroom was very clean" and there is a "good shower house." Clean and functional restrooms are a fundamental service and a significant comfort for campers.
Campground Office: There is a campground office, suggesting a central point for check-ins, inquiries, and assistance.
Friendly Camp Host: A consistent highlight from customer feedback is the "very nice and attentive" camp host, who "always answered the phone when needed and helped anyway he could." Responsive and helpful management is a valuable service that significantly enhances a camper's experience.
Based on customer feedback and general descriptions, Rocky Creek Campground has some distinct features and highlights that define the experience for visitors:
Attentive Camp Host: This is a consistently strong positive point. The "very nice and attentive" camp host who "always answered the phone when needed and helped anyway he could" is a significant highlight. Good customer service and support can make a substantial difference in a camper's stay, particularly in smaller, more intimate campgrounds.
Clean Facilities: The "very clean bathroom" and presence of a "good shower house" are important features. Cleanliness of shared facilities is a top priority for many campers and contributes positively to the overall experience.
Flexibility in Stays: The availability of monthly rates for both RV sites and cabins ($450/month for RV, $700-$850/month for cabins) suggests a focus on accommodating longer-term stays in addition to nightly visits. This is a key feature for those needing extended lodging or who prefer a seasonal home base.
Rustic and Quiet Setting: While some may interpret the "sewage runoff or (creek)" negatively, for others, a "little sewage runoff or (creek)" and the rural Centerville address may indicate a generally quiet and less developed setting, away from urban noise. This can be a highlight for those seeking a more rustic and peaceful environment.
Proximity to Route 35: Being located "right off Rt. 35" provides convenient access, making it easy to get to and from the campground, which is a practical highlight for travelers.
Cabins Available for Booking: The existence of "exclusive Airbnb cabins" that can be booked nightly, weekly, or monthly is a notable feature, offering a comfortable alternative for those without their own camping gear.
It is important for prospective visitors to consider all aspects of the campground's features, especially those mentioned in reviews, to align expectations with the reality of the experience.
Based on the publicly available information, Rocky Creek Campground primarily advertises its pricing structure, especially for longer stays, rather than traditional short-term promotional "offers" in the way larger resorts might. Their pricing is structured as follows:
RV Nightly: $50
RV Monthly: $450 (full hookup)
Cabin Monthly: $700-$850
The monthly rates for both RV sites and cabins can be considered a form of "special offer" for those planning an extended stay, as they typically represent a significant discount compared to accumulating nightly rates over a month. For example, staying for a month at the nightly RV rate would be $1500 (30 days x $50), making the $450 monthly rate a substantial saving.
While there are no specific, widely advertised "promotions" like "stay 3 nights, get one free" or seasonal discounts, the attractive monthly rates are a key incentive for visitors looking for long-term options. It's always advisable to contact the campground directly to inquire if any other specific deals are available, especially for weekly rates or off-season periods, as smaller, privately-owned campgrounds might offer flexible arrangements not always publicized online. The friendly camp host mentioned in reviews suggests that direct communication might be a good way to explore any unadvertised options.

For Ohioans seeking a straightforward and potentially long-term camping or cabin rental solution in the southern part of the state, Rocky Creek Campground offers a unique set of features that could make it a suitable choice. Its appeal to local users stems from its specific offerings and the type of experience it provides.
Firstly, the presence of a "very nice and attentive" camp host is a significant draw. For locals, dealing with friendly and responsive management can make a huge difference in the overall camping experience. Knowing that someone is readily available to answer questions and provide assistance fosters a sense of comfort and reliability, which is particularly valued by those looking for a consistent place to stay, whether for a weekend or an extended period.
Secondly, the availability of both RV sites with full hookups and monthly cabin rentals makes Rocky Creek Campground versatile for various needs. For Ohioans who might be working in the area temporarily, or those who prefer to have a semi-permanent base for their RV, the competitive monthly rates are a substantial advantage, offering a more economical solution than frequent nightly bookings. This long-term focus caters to a specific segment of the local camping community that values stability and affordability.
The cleanliness of the "bathroom" and the presence of a "good shower house" are practical benefits that enhance the comfort of any stay, particularly for those in RVs or cabins without full facilities or for tent campers. While the description of the "creek" might warrant a clear understanding of the immediate natural surroundings, the promise of a quiet setting, away from the more bustling areas, can be appealing for those seeking a more subdued and peaceful retreat.
Its location "right off Rt. 35" ensures relatively easy accessibility for Ohio residents, allowing for quicker trips without deep dives into less developed areas. This convenience means less time traveling and more time enjoying the stay. Ultimately, while Rocky Creek Campground may not be a large resort brimming with amenities, its focus on friendly service, clean essential facilities, and flexible long-term options makes it a pragmatic and potentially comfortable choice for Ohioans looking for a practical and quiet camping or cabin rental solution in the state’s southern region. It serves as a good base for those who prioritize a low-key environment and responsive management during their outdoor ventures.
Customer Reviews
They have nothing to offer. The prices are extremely high if you rent a cabin monthly. They try their best to rip you off.
Let me first of start by saying the camp host is very nice and intentive. Always answered the phone when needed and helped anyway he could. This campground is setup on a little sewage runoff or (creek) I guess they call it. There was consent sewage smells when walking around the park. Bathroom was very clean. We also managed to get Two TICKs attached to us sitting at the wooden Gazebo for 30 mins in short grass. I would not stay here again because of the smell and apparent zero tick spray or prevention. I'd just like to renote the camp host is amazing and this review is geared at the actual campground.
This place is convenient off 35 easy off easy acess. Very friendly staff. John is the greatest and helpful. Go out of way to make sure stay is comfortable. Wifi great.
