Look no further than Saint Lucie North Group Campground, nestled in the heart of Stuart, Florida. This hidden gem offers a refreshing opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy the company of your group, and experience the tranquil beauty of the Treasure Coast.

Saint Lucie North Group Campground isn't your typical drive-up, individual campsite. It’s specifically designed for groups, providing a more private and immersive wilderness experience. Imagine waking up to the sounds of nature, spending your days exploring scenic trails, and gathering around a campfire under the vast Florida sky with your friends, family, or organization. This campground offers a distinctive blend of rustic charm and essential amenities, making it an excellent choice for scout troops, family reunions, youth groups, or any gathering looking to unplug and reconnect with the outdoors.

One of the most notable features, often highlighted by those who have visited or even just explored the area, is its unique accessibility. As one observer noted, it's "only accessible via the lock (which is open from 7:30 through 4:30 each day) or through a gate that the ranger controls via reservations." This controlled access not only adds to the sense of exclusivity but also contributes to a more secure and undisturbed environment for campers. It ensures that the peace and natural integrity of the campground are preserved, providing a truly immersive outdoor experience away from the hustle and bustle.

The campground’s proximity to the St. Lucie locks is a significant advantage, offering not just a unique entry point but also an interesting point of local interest. This connection to the locks provides a fascinating backdrop to your camping trip, allowing for educational opportunities about local waterways and their importance. It's truly a place where you can enjoy the simplicity of nature while still being connected to the unique charm of Stuart, Florida.

Location and Accessibility

Saint Lucie North Group Campground is strategically located at 2170 Canal St, Stuart, FL 34997, USA. This address places it directly adjacent to the historic St. Lucie Lock, a significant landmark in the region that connects the St. Lucie Canal with the Indian River Lagoon. This unique positioning is key to understanding the campground's charm and accessibility.

As highlighted in local reviews, access to the campground is quite distinct. For most visitors, entry is primarily via the St. Lucie Lock. The lock operates daily from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, which means campers need to plan their arrival and departure within these hours. This controlled access contributes to the campground’s secluded and secure atmosphere, ensuring that only registered groups are present. Alternatively, access can be arranged through a controlled gate managed by the park ranger, typically tied to reservations.

Despite its seemingly remote access, the campground's location in Stuart, Florida, means you're never truly far from modern conveniences. Stuart itself is a vibrant city on the Treasure Coast, known for its charming downtown area, beautiful waterways, and access to the Atlantic Ocean. While the campground offers a wilderness feel, essential services such as grocery stores, gas stations, and medical facilities are within a reasonable driving distance, ensuring that your group can easily resupply or address any needs.

The proximity to the St. Lucie Locks also offers unique recreational opportunities beyond the campground itself. Visitors can often observe boats passing through the lock, or enjoy fishing along the canal. The natural beauty of the surrounding area, with its diverse flora and fauna, provides ample opportunities for birdwatching, photography, and simply enjoying the tranquility of Florida’s natural landscapes.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public group campground managed for specific uses, Saint Lucie North Group Campground typically does not offer ongoing promotional discounts in the way a private commercial campground might. Pricing is generally set and based on group size or duration of stay, and usually focuses on covering maintenance and operational costs. However, it is always recommended to inquire directly when making reservations. Sometimes, there might be specific rates for non-profit organizations, educational groups, or extended stays, but these would need to be confirmed with the managing entity or ranger. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on any potential special conditions or booking advantages, contacting the St. Lucie Lock management or the local park service directly is the best approach.

Contact Information

To plan your group's next outdoor adventure at Saint Lucie North Group Campground, you'll need to reach out directly to the managing authorities, typically associated with the St. Lucie Locks or the Army Corps of Engineers, who oversee this site. While a direct phone number for the campground itself isn't widely published as it operates on a reservation-only, ranger-controlled access system, here is the key information:

  • Address: 2170 Canal St, Stuart, FL 34997, USA

For reservations and the most accurate information regarding availability, access procedures (especially concerning the lock hours and ranger gate control), and any specific guidelines for group camping, it is best to contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages the St. Lucie Lock and surrounding areas. Their contact details can typically be found on their official websites related to the St. Lucie Lock or Florida District recreation areas. A general search for "St. Lucie Lock Army Corps of Engineers contact" will usually yield the most direct line to reservation and operational details.

Have only walked through it as it is only accessible via the lock (which is open from 7:30 through 4:30 each day) or through a gate that the ranger controls via reservations. There are shelters, picnic tables, fire rings, drop toilet and a 3/4 mile nature trail that winds through the area. Good spot for groups.
