SeaMist Camping Resort About
For North Carolina locals dreaming of a coastal getaway that combines the joys of camping with direct access to water adventures, SeaMist Camping Resort in Shallotte, NC, offers a unique proposition. Located at 4616 Devane Rd SW, this resort aims to provide a memorable experience for families, avid anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts. With its direct access to the water, it promises to be a hub for those who love fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the serene beauty of the North Carolina coast.
One recent guest described their stay as "fantastic," highlighting the "spacious" sites, a "peaceful, clean, and well-run" campground, and "clean showers and restrooms." A major highlight for them was the "on-site boat ramp," which made launching kayaks "so easy" and led to "absolutely phenomenal" fishing, with success in catching flounder, red drum, croakers, and blues. The convenience of "easy to net shrimp and mud minnows around low tide" for bait further enhanced their fishing experience, leading them to confidently state, "We'll definitely be back." The clean and modern laundry facilities, accepting credit cards for convenience, were also noted positively.
However, it's also important to consider all perspectives. A long-term resident expressed significant dissatisfaction, citing "promises of improvements that have never been made," multiple rent increases, issues with approved decks now requiring removal or permits, unfulfilled promises regarding 50-amp breakers and Wi-Fi improvements, and concerns about pool cleanliness, lack of chairs, and "over ran by cats" causing issues with trash and pets. This perspective underscores potential challenges for long-term residents regarding park management and maintenance, and it's vital for prospective visitors, especially those considering extended stays, to inquire directly about these concerns to get the most current information.

A significant highlight of SeaMist Camping Resort's location is its direct access to local waterways. The presence of an "on-site boat ramp" is a huge advantage for those with kayaks, small boats, or paddleboards, allowing direct launch into the surrounding creeks and estuaries that lead to the Intracoastal Waterway and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. Customer Reviews
We stayed at SeaMist Camping Resort (228) from Thursday through Sunday, and honestly, everything was fantastic. This site (228) was spacious but a little uneven (for the beach) on the back making me glad I brought all our blocks. The campground was peaceful, clean, and well-run. The showers and restrooms were clean, although it would be nice if they added a few shelves or holders in the shower area for soap and shampoo. We also used the laundry facilities, which were clean and modern with $2.50 per load using a credit card, which was super convenient. One of the biggest highlights was launching our kayaks from the on-site boat ramp. It made things so easy. The fishing was absolutely phenomenal. We crushed it on flounder (even though it's out of season), landing some real monsters using mud minnows and artificial bait. We also hooked into a few solid red drum, and cut bait brought in all the croakers and blues you could want. I even had one nearly spool me, lost it right at the shore after walking the beach, but still a rush! Bait was plentiful, easy to net shrimp and mud minnows around low tide. We didn’t do much pier fishing ourselves, but everyone we talked to seemed to be having decent luck there too. Overall, just a great experience. We'll definitely be back.
For anyone looking into a nice campground for their family to enjoy, this is not the place to go. My Family has beenon a permanent spot for over two years, they have raised the rent three times and another one starting in May 2025 with promises of improvements that have never been made. Decks that we have spent thousands of dollars on which were drawn and approved by staff of Seamist campground, which is what we were told to do. We are now being told have to be taken off the campers or we have to go to the county to get a permit —these decks have been up for a long time. If that was the county ordinance it should’ve been done in the beginning or they should’ve done it as our plans were turned into the Seamist office. Promised 50 amp breakers for over a year and nothing has been done, pool area not very clean no Chairs to sit in, and you are not allowed floats in the Pool. The dirt road continues to have huge potholes which they have promised to fix, And the Wi-Fi is horrible unless you are located close to the office which we have been told would be fixed with a wider broadband over a year. Park is also over Ran by cats. They just keep breeding and nothing has been done about it. Your trash gets destroyed they get up in your camper not to mention you can’t take your dogs because all they do is bark at all the cats running around free. Due to all the circumstances, we will be leaving the campground to a better place. The reasoning for my review is so that anyone knows what is really going on before they sign A lease in a place that has went downhill over the last year dramatically not to mention the treatment the tenants have received. Thank you all.
This campground used to be a nice place but after it was sold a few years back it has quickly gone downhill. The place is not maintained . The few amenities are in bad shape. There have had numerous things stolen from our lot and since there is no background checks required, safety is a huge concern for us. We that being said we have left the campground. Please check the reviews before choosing this campground.
I’m sure all the Five Star reviews will change their mind with the new owner/management policies. Rent has gone up every season. Waterfront lots are now $1275 per month. Decks are now under question by the County. No paved roads. Residence living has been allowed and overlooked by current management even though not up to code. Many sites show neglect. Move on to next campsite. Definitely not worth the money!!
Stayed here for 3 nights and the people are very friendly and helpful. Our main goal was to visit Holden and Myrtle Beach which we did. The campsite is nice. There are no firepits and a bit disappointed that we couldn't really just walk down to dip our toes in the water. But love the area.
