Customer Reviews
A very quiet and peaceful campground. The hosts, John and Kathy, are very polite. It would be nice to have a shower house and bathrooms though. There's a great seven mile path/road that goes completely around the lake for hiking. I don't recommend a bike though. Approximately 2 miles is thru the woods on a walking path only. The town of Nashville is also filled with polite people. I recommend attending during their county fair in July.
We came here for winter camping in Feb. Only ones crazy enough to camp here. Had the whole place to ourselves. Apparently they turn the water off in Nov, however we brought water and didn't need it. Also they have small outhouse restrooms in the campground that don't need water. We stayed in a tent in the larger sites with power (which we didnt need either). There was a camp host there who came to make sure we paid but was very friendly! Large, flat sites, access to the water and docks. Good parking, picnic benches, lots of trees. There are no firepits but the BBQ's work well for cooking, and u can still get a fire going to warm yourself.. The lack of firepit is my only gripe, everything is was great, so still 5-stars. We will be back when the weather is better.
It was a great deal! For context, we were tent camping and chose to get a site without electricity. It was a short drive from where the shower and bathroom facilities were. Those were nice and clean. There was RV camping with electrical stuff. There were tent camping options with electricity too. Our stay was $8 for our site and we were allowed to use the showers and bathrooms! On the no electricity sites there are picnic tables and grills and you’re able to just park in the grass. Staff was great too! We just happened to have noisy neighbors.
Shady rest campground is a real nice place. Not to large (the campground itself). There fishing, boating, hiking trails throughout the park. The camp sites are spacious. With electrical outlets. They also have nice tent sites. With fresh cool water. The restrooms/showers are sparkling clean. A well maintain campground with friendly staff 🙂.
Beautiful setting, friendly and helpful host. Spotless restrooms, but wasn't crazy about the constant push button for water. No Wi-Fi, but nature provides my entertainment anyway. We were passing through, so didn't check out the lake. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
