Features / Highlights

Soap Creek Marina and Resort is distinguished by several key features and highlights that enhance the visitor experience, along with important considerations from past guests:

  • Prime Lakeside Location: Direct access to Clarks Hill Lake (Lake Strom Thurmond) and its 1,200 miles of shoreline is a major draw, offering extensive opportunities for fishing, boating, and water sports. Nearly all RV sites boast lake views.
  • Diverse Accommodation Options: The ability to choose between RV sites, comfortable cabins with full kitchens (including a boat slip), and unique glamping yurts caters to a wide range of preferences and group sizes.
  • Comprehensive Marine Services: As a full-service marina, it simplifies boating for guests by offering gas, boat sales/service, rentals, slips, and even a boat club, ensuring everything needed for a day on the water is at hand.
  • On-Site Dining & Entertainment: Williemac's restaurant provides a convenient dining option, often with live music and outdoor seating, creating a lively atmosphere.
  • Family-Friendly Amenities: The private beach, boat rentals, and the overall relaxed environment make it suitable for families.
  • New Ownership & Updates: The resort has undergone recent updates since 2019, indicating a commitment to improving facilities and guest experience.

However, it's important to consider some challenges highlighted by recent reviews:

  • Restaurant Service Issues: Negative feedback indicates issues with food temperature ("All of our good was cold"), slow service during busy times, and confusing policies (e.g., being charged for sauce). A reviewer also noted their birthday celebration was "ruined." This suggests inconsistency in the dining experience.
  • Cabin Maintenance Concerns: One review mentioned cabins "getting a little worn out and will need remodeling soon," citing a broken shower that sprayed water into the wall and bedroom. While quickly fixed, it points to potential ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Customer Service/Charging Policies: The experience of being charged for sauce for wings, especially after food was cold, raises concerns about transparent pricing and customer satisfaction protocols.

Prospective guests are advised to manage expectations regarding restaurant service during peak times and to confirm the current condition of specific cabins or campsites upon booking or arrival. Direct communication with management for any issues is recommended.

There is only 2 tables occupied when we got there. Was put by the door for the patio. Hot air and bugs coming in the whole time. Asked to be moved but by then the other tables were taken. All of our good was cold ( ordered before the big groups) charged us $5.60 for sauce for our wings ( we didn’t get anything when they brought them out. ) it was 2 of our birthdays so ruined our night of celebration

We stay here every year for our annual fishing trip. Everything was good except our shower broke and sprayed water in the wall and into the bedroom. They came out and fixed it in a hurry. The cabins are getting a little worn out and will need remodeling soon but they serve our purposes.

The food was quite tasty and we were seated quickly despite being there on a busy Saturday night. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and there was atmospheric live music for most of the evening. The area was a bit crowded and noisy, but there were plenty of quiet areas to walk away to for a break. You can drive to and park here on a boat, as we did, with no problems. Also, no dogs are allowed, even on the outdoor seating.

The place itself is very nice we stayed in one of the cabins and that was nice. Now the restaurant at the marina just by the service I got from the bartender and then being told they don't take to go orders after 5 when I called before to inquire and was never told this I will not go back there. Secondly although the beach was nice what ruined it for us was the rude group that decided it was going to take over the whole beach making it so uncomfortable for my family to even enjoy ourselves. Even to the point we couldn't even swim as there boats were every where beached. I drive 3 hours for that trip and I think I'll just stay up at our lakes where the people are amazing and our busy marina restaurant doesn't turn away to go orders.

I enjoyed their steak and loaded fries. They were both awesome. My girlfriend had crab legs and fried green tomatoes and she loved her selection. The side salad was one of the best side salads that I have had Ina long time. This would be a great choice if you are looking for a place to eat. Restaurant and bathrooms are clean :)
