Services Offered

Stockton State Park Campground/RV provides a comprehensive range of services designed to ensure a comfortable and convenient camping experience for its guests, catering to various needs throughout the year:

  • Campsite Options: The campground offers both electric and non-electric campsites. Electric sites provide hookups for 30-amp and potentially 50-amp service, suitable for modern RVs.
  • Spacious Sites: Campers consistently praise the size and spacing of the campsites, noting that they are "beautiful spacious campsites" and "staggered and spaced apart," offering a good degree of privacy. Many sites are large enough to accommodate big rigs and separate vehicles.
  • Clean Restroom Facilities: The park's bathroom facilities are maintained to a high standard, frequently described as "clean" by visitors.
  • Water Access: While full water hookups at individual sites might vary, water spigots are available throughout the park, especially during the regular season. For winter months, a centralized water source is usually maintained.
  • RV Dump Station: A convenient dump station is available on-site for RVers to dispose of wastewater.
  • Online Reservation System: The park utilizes an easy and convenient online reservation system, allowing campers to book their sites in advance. The system reportedly does not charge a reservation fee, making it more cost-effective.
  • Year-Round Operation: The campground is open and available for camping throughout all seasons, providing options for winter camping even when some other local campgrounds may not offer electric sites.
  • Pet-Friendly Environment: Pets are welcome in the campground, with ample space for them to play, although owners are expected to adhere to responsible pet waste disposal, as highlighted by some visitor feedback.
  • Camp Host: A campground host is typically on-site to assist campers and manage daily operations.

Features / Highlights

Stockton State Park Campground/RV boasts several key features that contribute to its popularity and provide a rich camping experience:

These "nicely manicured" trails offer scenic routes for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels, providing opportunities for exercise and nature observation.
  • Spacious and Private Campsites: The layout of the campground, with sites that are "staggered and spaced apart," provides a sense of privacy and room to relax, which is highly valued by campers.

  • Friendly Atmosphere: Many campers note the friendly interactions among guests, describing a welcoming environment where people "will at least wave at you."
  • Reliable Phone Reception: Good phone reception is available, which is a practical benefit for those needing to stay connected or work remotely.
  • Winter Camping Option with Electric: For those seeking winter camping with electric hookups in the area, this campground stands out as a viable and often "cheapest option" when other Corps of Engineers campgrounds may not offer electricity in December or January.
  • Beautiful Scenery: The park's natural beauty, particularly around the lake, makes it a visually appealing place to camp.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a Missouri State Park facility, Stockton State Park Campground/RV operates under a structured fee system rather than offering frequent promotional discounts like private campgrounds. However, there are considerations that can make a stay more affordable or attractive:

  • Seasonal Rates: Camping fees vary depending on the season. Winter rates (December, January, February) are noted to be $14.00 for electric sites, which, while some reviewers find it high given limited amenities, is still highlighted as the "cheapest option" for electric camping in the area during those months when other parks may not offer it. Regular season rates are slightly higher when full amenities like showers are available.
  • Disabled Discount: A $2.00 discount per night is available for disabled individuals, making the winter electric sites $12.00. Similar discounts might apply during other seasons, so it's always worth inquiring.
  • No Reservation Fee: The convenience of an easy online reservation system without an added reservation fee is a practical saving for campers.
  • America the Beautiful Pass Comparison: While Corps of Engineers campgrounds offer a $5 rate with the America the Beautiful Pass in the off-season (when electric is available), Stockton State Park does not offer this specific federal pass discount. However, its year-round electric availability distinguishes it.

For the most precise and current pricing information, including any applicable state park discounts, it is always best to check the official Missouri State Parks website for Stockton State Park or contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers.

This is possibly my favorite Missouri State Park, but the winter rates are still higher than they should be, in my opinion. Both camping loops have beautiful spacious campsites with lake access. During the winter months, there are no showers available, and campsites with electric are $14.00. ( which is only slightly less than prices during the regular season when water & showers are available). If you need a campsite with electricity in this area during the months of December, January, or February.. this is your cheapest option, and it really is a beautiful campground on a beautiful part of the lake. I believe the website says reservations required, but I went without a reservation, drove through both loops, picked out my campsite ( no one else was there other than the campground host ), and then paid online. There are signs posted saying you can call, pay online, or pay the camp host. It was very easy and, to my surprise, no reservation fee. $14.00 ( $2 discount for disabled ) I loved the easy walk to the lake and how the campsites were staggered and spaced apart. The hiking trails were nicely manicured as well. My only complaint is the price. $14.00 .. The Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Stockton Lake only charge $10 ( $5 with the America the beautiful pass) for campsites with electric during the off-season .. unfortunately, though, they do not offer campsites with electric in December or January. It's just hard to go from paying $5 per night to $14 .. when the amenities are the same. It would be nice if the showers were available at the State Park in the winter.. perhaps more people would be able to winter in Missouri and would stay at the state park if water or showers were available. It would also justify the price. .. in my opinion. Beautiful.. but needs showers all year or needs to make winter rates lower.

Last minute stop for one night. The reservation system was easy and convenient. The camping spot was large. There were lots of space to play fetch with our dog. The bathroom facilities were clean. We were there on a weekday and it was very quiet.

Walk In camping details - 5 spots to choose from. I was able to scope them all out at some point during my recent stay. A few wheel barrels were provided, however neither were available when I arrived. I have a sturdy, collapsible wagon, so it didn't matter. The walk-in path is adequate, but it slopes downhill regardless of which site you choose. Expect a bit more effort packing up to leave. I could be wrong, but site 2 / WI2 seemed the steepest. Sites 1, 3, and 5 are all connected by a golf cart path. They are far enough apart for decent privacy but close enough to give a shout if you're in one and know who is in the next one. These 3 sites would be nice for extended family or friends camping together. These sites mostly face east, however #5 will have a bigger water view since it's more on the tip. Sites 2 and 4 are not connected to any other site. They are more on the north. All sites have a designated level square area for your tent, a picnic table with a post and a few hooks, and a fire ring. Some more shaded than others. They also all have a private path to the water. There is an outhouse right by where you park and a water spigot across the camping street where the RVs are - there is a designated sidewalk to the spigot. Camp hosts, Susan and Nahiya (spelling?), were very nice. We enjoyed the trails and beautiful sun rises. All photos were taken from WI1 / walk in site #1. I hope this helps someone!!!

The host was super friendly, they cleaned sites and electricity boxes before each new arrival. They asked if we had visited before and told us where to find a trail to the water, also explained that the lake was known for sail boating.
