Beware: Bed Bugs and Zero Accountability Our recent stay at this KOA was a nightmare. We found clear signs of bed bugs in our cabin—stained sheets, a live bug crawling on the bed, and bites on multiple family members, including a young child. We immediately reported the issue, expecting at least some concern or help from the staff. Instead, we were met with denial and no assistance whatsoever. No inspection, no room change, no refund—just brushing off the problem like it didn’t exist, despite photo evidence and visible bites. It was clear they were more interested in protecting their image than taking care of their guests’ health and safety. This was supposed to be a fun family getaway, but it turned into a stressful, unsanitary, and disappointing experience. If you’re considering staying here, especially with kids—think twice. The lack of responsibility and basic customer care was shocking.
What a beautiful campground! Tall Pines is a perfect name! Our 1st visit April 3-6. The weather was beautiful. Barb was very helpful and so sweet. KOA is lucky to have her. Now for future 1st time visitors.. cell service is spotty (verizon). Wifi didn't work for us but we had no problem with that. If you are worried about mosquitoes, you must remember where the location of the campground is. Marsh land surrounds it! We will definitely be back again!
We stayed in a cottage at Sun outdoors Chesapeake Bay and everything was fantastic!!! Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The camp store was great and stocked with plenty of things that's easy to forget while camping. Making it easy to grab and reasonably priced. We normally are not pool people. But quickly became pool people and went to the pool every day because the pool and splash pad were so nice. Only negatives I can think of which are completely out of Sun Outdoors control were the cell service was spotty but not terrible. The beach was fantastic but muddy bottomed. Again both of these issues are not in their control and is completely fine honestly. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is. But honestly you should see it for yourself. Mrs Cheryl is extra sweet so say hi to her if you see her. Can't wait to come back next season!!
Everyone with the exception of KIM was very pleasant and kind to work with. She’s as useless as the twig that just fell out of the tree in front of me. The campsites are large, the bay is beautiful. I find it very concerning that they allow children to drive golf carts. Also, the speed of the golf carts will surely cause an accident sooner or later. People get bored and drunk then fly up and down the stone road, kicking up so much dust it’s appalling. I have video of it all, (“owner” don’t excuse the recklessness by replying “we haven’t had a lot of rain”, because your excuse for every other issue is weather related, do something about it). WiFi is non-existent, no one abides by the “quiet time” rules. When you pull in or sit at the pool, you feel like you’re in a junkyard. Old RVs and boats just sitting in a row. The only good thing about this place is that Captain E’s is a short distance. They have great food. Do yourself a favor, research other campgrounds if you want a peaceful stress free vacation. ****Update: I’m not sure where Kim’s nasty response went, I’m assuming she removed it because it’s embarrassing. However, the kind gentleman working with her behind the counter did move our campsite, not because it was offered, because we asked to be moved AND WE PAID THE EXTRA FEE. So, I’m not quite sure why she feels like she did me any favors. Also, videos added. I had to send them to the bank, I might as well post them here.
