This deliberate choice of location contributes significantly to its peaceful and quiet atmosphere, a highly valued attribute for many RV travelers.

The appeal of RV travel in West Virginia lies in its flexibility and the ability to bring the comforts of home into the heart of nature. This personal touch can significantly enhance a visitor's experience, providing a welcoming atmosphere and helpful support throughout their stay. Whether you're a seasoned RVer with a big rig or a family with a smaller trailer, the owners' dedication to ensuring a pleasant visit is evident in the positive feedback.

While the journey to Whisper Mountain RV Park might require careful navigation due to its secluded location on "pretty small, hilly and curvy" roads, the destination itself offers a rewarding experience. It’s a trade-off many are willing to make for the promise of peace, natural beauty, and a chance to interact with charming details like miniature horses on the property. Our goal here is to present a factual and balanced account of Whisper Mountain RV Park, incorporating genuine customer reviews to provide a realistic and inviting picture of what you can expect as a local RVer in West Virginia.

Location and Accessibility

Whisper Mountain RV Park is located at 4897 3 Lick Rd, Roanoke, WV 26447, USA. This address places the RV park in a genuinely secluded area of West Virginia, contributing significantly to its "peaceful and quiet" atmosphere, as noted by visitors. Roanoke, an unincorporated community in Lewis County, is characteristic of many charming, smaller West Virginia locales that offer a tranquil escape from more bustling areas.

One of the most important aspects of Whisper Mountain RV Park's location, particularly for RVers, is its accessibility, which guests consistently highlight. It is "NOT convenient to the highway or most any other road for that matter" and is "WAY off the beaten path." Visitors strongly advise to "Definitely follow the directions that they send to you and NOT your own GPS." The roads leading to the park are described as "pretty tight '2 lane roads' where if there are 2 cars one of them will have to pull off to let the other pass." Even with direct instructions, the road remains "pretty small, hilly and curvy." For those with "a big rig," the journey can be "kinda sketchy," though "smaller trailers fine." This clearly indicates that while the destination is rewarding, the journey requires careful navigation and is more suited to experienced RV drivers or those with smaller setups.

Despite the challenging approach, the secluded nature of the location is precisely what appeals to many. It ensures minimal traffic noise and light pollution, allowing for an immersive natural experience. While the park isn't "convenient to anything" in terms of immediate access to shops or major attractions, this remoteness is a feature, not a bug, for campers seeking a true escape. Roanoke itself is a quiet area, and larger towns or cities with more services would require a drive. This location is perfectly suited for those whose primary goal is relaxation and connecting with nature rather than sightseeing or urban exploration.

While the park provides essential hookups and basic amenities, guests should plan for its secluded nature, meaning immediate access to off-site services might be limited. The varying condition of the bathhouse and laundry facility suggests it's advisable to verify their current status upon booking or arrival if these are critical to your stay.

However, for those prepared for the journey, the reward is a truly relaxing and engaging stay surrounded by West Virginia's natural beauty, enhanced by thoughtful amenities and delightful unique touches like the miniature horses.

We stayed here for 1 night on our way north. The campground is NOT convenient to the highway or most any other road for that matter. Its WAY off the beaten path. Definitely follow the directions that they send to you and NOT your own GPS. You will find yourself on some pretty tight "2 lane roads" where if there are 2 cars one of them will have to pull off to let the other pass. Even with the directions the road is pretty small, hilly and curvy. With a big rig kinda sketchy but smaller trailers fine. Once there Judy was very nice and accommodating. The campground is quaint and pretty secluded. We stayed in a pull thru up front which was easy to get in and out but right next to a "garage" area so not very private. The bathhouse was a bit run down and laundry facility was locked up. Not a horrible experience but not very convenient to anything.

Beautiful campground nestled in WV! My husband and I always take first trip out by ourselves. Property was beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Owners were very nice and accommodating. They had 2 sweet miniature horses” Misty & Mr Nibbles”. I loved them! Wish I had known to bring more apples and carrots. Thank you for a relaxing stay!

We stayed at Whisper Mountain in the off season for two months, and it was wonderful. It’s located a bit outside of Weston, WV down a long and winding road- nestled in the valley in the mountains. If you like the smell of honeysuckle- it’s heavenly in the spring. There were a couple other long term campers while we were there and a few weekenders through the months, and so was very quiet and peaceful. There’s a little creek that runs along the side of the property and a pond where we got to see five geese hatch and learn how to swim. We took full advantage of the hiking trails up in the mountains behind the main campground- the paths are wide and clear. Walking up and down the mountain was excellent exercise. Plenty of room for my son to run around and play. They playground was a bit old and could use some improvement, and as others have mentioned, there was no laundry services - but both of those are things I’d consider a luxury while camping (the laundromat isn’t that far away in Weston). There are rustic sites, partial hookup sites, full hookup sites and they have a couple cabins that you can rent by the pond. There is a fire pit and a picnic table at each site. We left before it was warm enough to take advantage of the pool though. Overall, it was my favorite campground that we’ve been to since we bought our RV. Judy was very sweet and worked with us with our ever-changing schedule for how long our stay was going to be.

A lovely spot in Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Judy and her husband were more than accommodating to us. They are kind people who welcome you into their campground and treat you like family. Beautiful views, a creek for kids to play in, a pond, swimming pool and playground. More than thankful that we ended up in their campground after not being able to find a space elsewhere. Will certainly return.
