The Flatwoods KOA Journey boasts an incredibly convenient location, making it easily accessible for anyone traveling through West Virginia. You'll find it situated at 350 Days Dr, Sutton, WV 26601, USA. Its proximity to Interstate 79 (I-79), specifically Exit 67, means you can transition from highway travel to your peaceful campsite with minimal fuss. From the exit, a quick right turn at the stoplight, followed by a left onto Days Drive (approximately 100 yards), will lead you directly to the campground. Look for the clear signage directing you to both the Days Inn & Suites and the KOA, as registration for the campground is conveniently handled at the Days Inn & Suites lobby. This strategic placement ensures that whether you're passing through on a long journey or intentionally visiting the Sutton area, your arrival at Flatwoods KOA Journey is straightforward and stress-free. The integrated check-in process at the Days Inn provides an added layer of convenience, especially for late arrivals. Furthermore, being part of a larger complex often means easier access to immediate needs, like groceries and various chain restaurants, which are typically found nearby for your convenience.

Flatwoods KOA Journey aims to provide a comprehensive and comfortable camping experience with a variety of services designed to meet the needs of all campers.

  • Premium Tent Sites: For those who prefer a more traditional camping experience, the campground offers dedicated tent sites that provide a comfortable and scenic spot to pitch your tent.
  • Deluxe Cabins: If you’re looking for a more structured stay, a two-bedroom/one-bathroom Deluxe Cabin is available, offering a cozy retreat with a front porch swing and more creature comforts.
  • Well-Lit After-Hours Check-In Service: For late arrivals, a well-lit and accessible check-in process ensures a smooth and safe arrival at any time.

While specific, ongoing promotions can vary, Flatwoods KOA Journey, as part of the broader KOA network, often participates in special offers that can benefit campers. One recurring opportunity is the KOA "Care Camps Big Weekend." This event typically allows campers to stay at participating KOA campgrounds, with a significant portion of the cost of the second night being donated to KOA Care Camps, which sends children with cancer to specialized oncology camps. Keep an eye on the official KOA website or contact Flatwoods KOA Journey directly for details on this and other potential promotions, such as discounts for extended stays, loyalty programs, or seasonal specials. It’s always a good idea to check their website or call ahead to inquire about any current deals that could enhance your stay and provide added value.

We stayed overnight at the Flatwoods KOA, which offers beautiful vistas and is part of a convenient hotel complex. Easy to access from the highway with nearby grocery options and chain restaurants. The gravel sites were fine, but unfortunately, our power breaker wasn’t functioning, which meant we couldn’t use any utensils or plug in our tools at night or am.. We reported it to the front desk at 6:45 a.m. and were told maintenance would arrive shortly after 7—but no one ever came. We had to change a tire before leaving, and the lack of power made the process more difficult. Still waiting on a follow-up from the GM. A decent stopover location, but there’s definitely room for improvement in customer service and responsiveness.

The worst KOA we've ever stayed. Good thing it was just for an overnight. We would have been better off staying at a truck stop or Walmart. The sign to "register at Days Inn" which is located past the hotel so we had to back up our 40 ft rig with our car in tow. There is NO signage on the hotel so good luck finding the entrance. The WIFI is available with no internet connection, what's the point. The bath house was closed for repairs. The restaurant is in the hotel, with the only access being a hike up a steep him (not handicap friendly). No shuttle offered to handicapped guests.

Bath house looked nice, ice machine was a huge plus. Lots of amenities, but pretty spread out. We stayed at the top, not near the amphitheater or the ball field, and it was very peaceful. It would be very nice if they did something with that amphitheater! What a great space. Overall good experience. A little tricky getting in but good signage. Check in at the Days Inn before you go into campground.

I’m posting this photo in response to some of the other reviews. You have to stop and register at the days Inn. It’s located at the entrance to the KOA. Simple.

Convenient campground off the interstate. We had plenty of room at our pull through site and leveling was not an issue. The washers and dryers (2 each) were clean and it was nice to have an ice machine. It’s a short walk (if you don’t mind the hill) to the hotel which has a fitness room (no weights), indoor pool, and restaurant/bar. Cell service was great at the campground. You are close to fuel and food.
