Wolf Pen Recreation Area operates under the management of the USDA Forest Service, which signifies its commitment to preserving natural resources while providing recreational opportunities. This means the focus is on maintaining the integrity of the forest and river environment, offering fundamental amenities rather than extensive facilities. It’s designed for campers who are comfortable with a more self-sufficient style of outdoor living and who prioritize natural beauty and quiet over modern conveniences.
The area is particularly renowned for its connection to the Mulberry River, a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. Customer Reviews
Great State park, came here from the Grand Canyon and decided to stay, great camp spots, no facilities except for trash receptacles and outhouse bathrooms.
We started here for our kayaking trip to Turner Bend. With the water so low (2.35) it made for a long, slow, and pretty bumpy trip. It was still runable, but we had to be very wise in our choice of routes. Beautiful area and it looks like a great place to picnic, swim, and even camp if you are ok with a primitive campsite.
We went in April it’s was very quiet and peaceful. Almost nobody there. The place is very clean and unkept. Fishing was okay. Water was pretty cold but I would expect that this time of year. Water is crystal clear.
Wolf Pen is a beautiful campground on the Mulberry River. It is a great place to put in for kayaking or to swim and float around on a tube. The surrounding Arkansas forest is great for exploring also.
Camped here for 2 nights and floated to Turner bend. Wonderful time, great spot, very remote, just how I like it. Would camp here again.
