Nestled adjacent to Bass Lake, this campground provides a peaceful retreat within the active environment of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Famcamp is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's a gateway to outdoor adventure and a chance to utilize the comprehensive facilities available on one of the nation's prominent military installations. Whether you're seeking a short getaway or a longer stay, this Famcamp caters to a specific community, offering a secure and welcoming environment. While it’s primarily for military personnel and authorized DoD civilians, its reputation for being a quiet and safe haven is often highlighted by those who have experienced it. It’s important to note that access to the base and the Famcamp is restricted to those with appropriate identification, including active duty military, retired military, DoD civilians, DoD contractors, and their dependents with a DD Form 1173.

Recent feedback has indicated that the Famcamp sometimes experiences periods of disorganization, particularly concerning site management and grounds maintenance when a host isn't consistently on-site. Visitors have mentioned issues with parking and inconsistent upkeep of the grounds. However, many past reviews praise the campground for being one of the best military Famcamps they've encountered, emphasizing its quiet atmosphere and safety, as well as the convenience of having a huge base with all necessary amenities close at hand. These varying experiences suggest that while there might be occasional operational challenges, the core appeal of the Famcamp remains strong for its target audience.

Location and Accessibility

The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Famcamp is conveniently located in Dayton, Ohio, within the sprawling grounds of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The place is a mess since they have no host anymore on site! People are parking where ever! Some parking and not paying! People parking cars on the grass! Total chaos with no host to keep things running smoothly! And the grounds look horrible due to the new crew must have never mowed in their life! Didn’t even finish the grounds just left it half mowed! Who knows what the bathrooms look like!! A host has to be on site 24/7 to keep a campground running properly!

Located in Dayton, OH. Probably the best military Famcamp we've been to. Quiet (except for reveille at 7:30 a.m. weekdays) and safe. Huge base with all you need here. Nice dog park. Highly recommend if you are active duty or retired military.

We went there for the fishing. It was so peaceful! A couple of nibbles but not one catch. That's fine because it was so serene the fish were just part of the trip.

We were Traveling through from New York and booked to stay here. At Gate guard ID us and you feel welcomed. The location for RV was clean with park bench, propane hook up (must ask), electric hook up, water hook up, and dog park close by. Rest rooms are available although didn't use any other features at this camp. We arrived at night and had the peace of safety as we traveled. Highly recommend and the planes on location are amazing. Would stay again.

Very basic famcamp, no x-tra's. NoTP in men's room Saturday thru Monday on Memorial Day Weekend. No camp host; can't speak with anyone in person. Great location for me, so will probably stay again. Cost is higher than most famcamp.
