Riverview Recreation Vehicle Park is ideally located at 511 Riverview Dr, Clinton, IA 52732, USA. This address places it directly within the expansive and amenity-rich Riverview Park, Clinton’s premier park overlooking the Mississippi River. While the campground itself is positioned behind a levee, limiting direct river views from all sites, its location within Riverview Park grants immediate access to numerous riverfront attractions and activities. Clinton, Iowa, itself is a historic city on the western bank of the Mississippi River, known for its rich lumbering past, charming downtown, and vibrant community spirit.

The park's accessibility is a major convenience for Iowa residents. Situated on Riverview Drive, it offers easy navigation within Clinton, allowing quick access to local businesses, grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations. Major routes like U.S. Route 67 (which runs parallel to the river) and U.S. Route 30 (which connects across the state) are easily accessible, providing seamless connections for travelers from all directions. This means campers can effortlessly reach the park and then readily explore the city's offerings. Furthermore, the park's location provides excellent regional accessibility. It's just a short drive from other popular destinations along the Mississippi, such as Thomson, Illinois, home to the Thomson Causeway Recreation Area, and other charming river towns. The park also benefits from its proximity to major cultural and recreational hubs. Being part of Riverview Park, it’s adjacent to the Clinton Discovery Trail, a paved bike and walking path, and just a stone's throw from the Clinton LumberKings baseball stadium, the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, and the Clinton Marina. This central location ensures that campers enjoy both the tranquility of a well-maintained park and the convenience of having diverse entertainment and essential services within easy reach, making it an ideal base for exploring Eastern Iowa.

Riverview Recreation Vehicle Park boasts several key features and highlights that contribute to its high ratings and popularity among Iowa locals and beyond:

  • Excellent Pricing and Value: Reviewers consistently praise the "Great pricing," making it an affordable option for quality RV camping. The nightly rate is competitive, and it drops during the off-season.
  • Year-Round Availability: A significant advantage is that the park is "open during the winter," providing a rare opportunity for cold-weather camping or long-term stays during the off-season when other campgrounds are closed.
  • Well-Maintained Grounds and Facilities: The park is described as "Very nicely maintained" with "well kept grounds." Bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are "all wonderful and well maintained," ensuring a clean and comfortable experience.
  • Spacious, Level Concrete Pads: Campsites feature "Nice concrete pads, long enough that we could stay attached" for larger RVs, offering easy setup and stability. Sites are also noted as being "clean and spacious."
  • First-Come, First-Served System: While some might prefer reservations, the "first come first served" policy (especially during weekdays) can be a highlight for spontaneous travelers, allowing flexibility to secure a spot if arriving early enough.
  • Proximity to Bike Trails: The park offers "great bike trails" with direct access to the Discovery Trail and the broader Mississippi River Trail system, providing miles of scenic pathways for cycling and walking.
  • On-site Playground: A "nice playground" within the RV park is a fantastic feature for families traveling with children, offering a safe and convenient play area.
  • Central Location within Riverview Park: Being part of the larger Riverview Park means immediate access to a multitude of amenities, including a marina, public boat launch, professional theatre (Showboat Theatre), swimming pool, pickleball and sand volleyball courts, and professional baseball at the Clinton LumberKings stadium. This proximity ensures "it's easy to get around the city from the RV park" and offers "lots of scenic places in the area."
  • Unique Train-Watching Experience: While situated near train tracks, some campers consider watching the trains go by a unique and enjoyable aspect, noting that it's "just as easy to sleep through it," suggesting minimal disturbance for most.

Riverview Recreation Vehicle Park maintains competitive pricing and offers specific seasonal considerations rather than traditional "promotions" in the commercial sense. Given its municipal operation (as part of Clinton's Riverview Park), pricing is generally transparent and consistent.

  • Standard Nightly Rates: The regular nightly rate is typically $22.00 (as per recent information), offering excellent value for full hookup sites.
  • Off-Season Rates: During the off-season (approximately October to April), when water may be shut off to individual sites and bathroom amenities are limited, the fee drops to $15.00 per night (or $100 weekly if paid in advance). This makes it a very attractive option for winter campers.
  • First-Come, First-Served: The primary "availability model" is first-come, first-served. While not a discount, it means campers have the flexibility to arrive without prior booking, especially beneficial during weekdays. It's advisable to arrive earlier in the day to secure a spot, particularly on weekends or during peak season.
  • Long-Term Stay Policy: Long-term camping is not permitted during the peak season (April 15th – October 15th). Campers may stay for 14 consecutive days and must vacate for 24 hours before returning. During the off-season, requests for longer stays might be considered if vacancies exist and permission is granted by staff.

For the most up-to-date pricing, seasonal changes, and availability, campers should contact the park directly or consult the official City of Clinton Parks & Recreation website information regarding Riverview RV Park.

Very nicely maintained park with well kept grounds. Marine style lighted shore power stations. Nice concrete pads, long enough that we could stay attached. First come first served (great if you can get there during a weekday for the weekend). We enjoyed staying there and watching the trains go by, but it was just as easy to sleep through it. You can't see much of the river being behind the levee, but it's easy to get around the city from the RV park. Would definitely go back. Lots of scenic places in the area.
