Location and Accessibility

Beaufort Lake State Forest Campground is situated on Beaufort Lake Road, Michigamme, MI 49861, USA. This location places it in Marquette County, approximately 1.5 miles southeast of the community of Three Lakes. While the address lists Michigamme, Three Lakes is a closer landmark for more precise navigation. Access to the campground involves navigating forest roads, which are typically unpaved gravel or dirt surfaces.

From major routes like US-41, you would generally turn onto local or forest roads that lead to Beaufort Lake Road. While these roads are usually passable by most vehicles, including those towing smaller trailers, it is always advisable to drive carefully and be prepared for varying conditions, especially after heavy rain. The journey to Beaufort Lake State Forest Campground is part of the adventure, winding through dense Upper Peninsula forests and hinting at the peaceful seclusion that awaits.

This balance allows campers to enjoy a deep wilderness experience without being completely cut off from necessary provisions. For Michiganders seeking an accessible yet wild escape, the location of Beaufort Lake State Forest Campground strikes an excellent balance.

Services Offered

Promotions or Special Offers

As a Michigan State Forest Campground managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Beaufort Lake State Forest Campground operates on a standard fee structure rather than offering specific commercial promotions or discounts. The current nightly camping fee is $20. The primary "special offer" here is the exceptional value of experiencing pristine lakefront wilderness at an affordable, state-managed rate. There are generally no seasonal discounts, loyalty programs, or package deals as you might find at private campgrounds. Importantly, sites at Beaufort Lake State Forest Campground are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis. It is always advisable for prospective campers to check the official Michigan DNR website or contact the managing state park (Van Riper State Park, which manages this campground) for the most current fee information and any updates on campground status or conditions before planning their trip.

$20/night rustic camping by the lake....which unfortunately attracts flies! Drop toilets. There is a water pump which they say is potable but the colour of the water that came out was a bit too green in flavour for me to confidently be drinking that.
