It’s the kind of place where you can quickly set up camp, access the internet to plan your next leg of the journey, and enjoy the convenience of being close to town. For Michigan residents who prioritize connectivity and a simple, no-frills overnight stay while traversing the vast Upper Peninsula, Northern Lights Campground offers a pragmatic solution. It’s less about an immersive wilderness experience and more about providing a practical and accessible spot for travelers.
Northern Lights Campground is located on Park City Rd, Republic, MI 49879, USA. This address places it directly within the town of Republic in Marquette County, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Its location within a town is a key aspect, as it often means easier access on paved roads compared to more secluded, rustic campgrounds deep in the forest.
Republic itself is a small community, accessible via state highways like M-95 or M-35, which connect to larger routes such as US-41. This makes the drive to Northern Lights Campground generally straightforward for Michiganders traveling from various parts of the state or passing through the Upper Peninsula. Being located on Park City Road, a local thoroughfare, means the campground is easy to find upon entering Republic.
The accessibility extends beyond just the roads. Its in-town location means that local businesses, general stores, and potentially dining options are often within walking or a very short driving distance. This convenience can be a significant advantage for campers who need to restock supplies, grab a meal, or simply want the comfort of being close to community resources. For those traversing the Upper Peninsula, Northern Lights Campground offers a readily accessible and easy-to-locate stopping point.

- Campsites: The campground offers designated campsites suitable for various setups, including RVs and potentially tents.
- No Showers: It's explicitly stated that there are "no showers" available on-site, indicating a basic amenity level. Campers should plan accordingly for personal hygiene.

- Proximity to Bar/Local Establishments: The campground's location puts it "down the street" from a bar, which offers convenient access to local food and spirits, though this can also be a source of noise as noted in reviews.

It's important to note that while these are features, some reviews highlight challenges with noise from nearby establishments and within the campground, as well as operational issues like early morning mowing near campsites. These factors are important considerations for potential visitors prioritizing quiet and undisturbed rest.

Customer Reviews
Nice little campground in a nice town. The problem is they raise the rates the $40 a night plus tax. Really nothing here except wi-fi. No showers, no laundry,. State parks are $25 and they have things to offer. It was a good deal at 30 hours a night. It's not worth $40 a night. Won't be coming back cuz I can't afford it.
We had a terrible experience. First the bar down the street had music blaring all night. There was also music coming from the other side of the campground. We stayed an entire week and every night there was music until 2-3am. People drive through the campground for a joyride, so don't expect your kids to be able to ride their bikes. There is access to the river with small fish but no swimming area. One morning while making breakfast they mowed the grass it didn't need to be cut. They drove right on the edge of our site blowing dust all over us and in our food. The kids were running around and they almost took our kids and the neighbors dog out. Over all we will not be back and I can't give much positives.
June 28, 2024 2nd time staying here. Last year we were in the middle. We are now in 7 and it is a nice site. Even though we are backed up to two tent sites and they would have to walk thru our site to get to there’s, nobody is there. You get a glimpse of water below but foliage is heavy, blocking the beautiful view. Would like to fish but no way down there. Very quiet and tranquil, no sound of trains, planes or automobiles! Biggest downfall, the bathrooms (outhouse) is absolutely disgusting! Please, somebody get the pump truck and thoroughly clean this! Our hunting camp outhouse has never been pumped and 70 years old and clean! Cable tv for the main channels are good. Don’t expect cell service! Last year I had ATT and had none but wife has T-Mobile and was spotty. I now have T-Mobile also and have 1 bar so also very spotty and slow. Her for 2 nights and the weather is perfect after rain when we arrived last night. 50’s to 70’s but still some clouds.
Quite campground with a great access to the river. Clean toilet.
We stayed a week and it was too long. There were kids on 4 wheelers and dirt bikes that were not campers, tearing around and going in and out of the campground until way after midnight. No one patrols it and they must know it. After regular working hours it started and seemed never ending. We were in # 8 and they had to ride past us every time to get back to their “party” spot. Would not recommend this place to anyone that wants to get any sleep. And 5:00am the trucks started hauling. So dissatisfied and disappointed
