Big Oaks RV Park About

Introduction / Overview

For Texans who love the RV lifestyle, finding a comfortable and well-located park can make all the difference for a short getaway or a longer-term stay. Big Oaks RV Park, situated at 3330 W Whitestone Blvd in Cedar Park, TX 78613, positions itself as a convenient hub for exploring the vibrant Cedar Park area and the greater Austin metroplex. This park aims to provide full-service RV sites, catering to both transient visitors and those seeking an extended residence in their recreational vehicles.

Big Oaks RV Park is nestled in the picturesque Texas Hill Country, offering a quieter, more natural setting while remaining remarkably close to urban amenities. It's designed to provide a secure and accommodating environment for RV enthusiasts, with a focus on essential hookups and practical facilities. The park prides itself on being veteran-owned and operated, suggesting a commitment to service and community.

However, it's important for prospective visitors to consider the full spectrum of experiences reported by past guests. While some reviews praise the park's cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and friendly staff, others highlight significant challenges regarding site leveling, electrical and sewer hookup placement, and the condition of the gravel roads. These insights suggest that while Big Oaks RV Park strives to offer a solid base for RVers, some aspects of its design and upkeep may require adaptability from guests. Despite these points, its location in desirable Cedar Park remains a compelling factor for many Texans.

Location and Accessibility

Big Oaks RV Park's location at 3330 W Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613, is a significant advantage for Texans seeking an RV park that balances natural surroundings with urban convenience. Cedar Park is a rapidly growing city just northwest of Austin, offering a dynamic environment with numerous attractions and services.

The park is strategically positioned directly off West Whitestone Boulevard (FM 1431), a major east-west artery that provides easy access to various parts of Cedar Park and connects to other key roadways. This means straightforward navigation for RVs of all sizes upon arrival and departure. The nearby US Highway 183 and 183A Toll Road offer quick routes south towards downtown Austin (approximately 25 miles away) and north to other Hill Country destinations.

For daily necessities, Big Oaks RV Park is just minutes away from a wide array of popular shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Major retailers like Costco, H-E-B, and various shopping centers are conveniently close, simplifying errands for long-term residents and vacationers alike. The proximity to the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park allows easy access to concerts, sporting events, and family shows, making it ideal for entertainment seekers.

While offering a serene escape, the park’s location ensures that medical facilities, repair services, and other essential urban resources are readily available. This blend of Hill Country tranquility and urban accessibility makes Big Oaks RV Park a practical and appealing choice for Texans looking to explore the Austin metropolitan area from their RV.

  • On-Site Manager: The presence of an on-site manager or staff member during business hours indicates direct support for guest inquiries, assistance, and problem resolution.

  • On-Site Parts Store: For common RV maintenance needs or forgotten items, an on-site parts store can be a significant convenience, saving a trip to an external retailer.

  • Recycling Program: The park promotes environmental responsibility with a recycling program for guests to dispose of their recyclables properly.

  • Gated Access: Big Oaks RV Park features a remote access gate, enhancing security and providing peace of mind for residents.

While these services aim to provide a comprehensive experience, some customer reviews indicate challenges with the practical implementation of hookup placement and site leveling, which prospective visitors should be aware of. Direct communication with the park to clarify specific site conditions and service accessibility upon booking is always recommended.

Features / Highlights

Big Oaks RV Park offers several features and highlights that make it an attractive option for RVers exploring Cedar Park and the wider Central Texas region.

  • Prime Cedar Park Location: A standout feature is its strategic location on W Whitestone Blvd. This places it minutes away from Cedar Park's bustling commercial centers, the H-E-B Center for entertainment, and various dining options. It also provides a great base for exploring Austin's famous attractions without being directly in the city's denser areas.

  • Texas Hill Country Setting: The park is nestled amidst shady oak trees, offering a sense of tranquility and a touch of the beautiful Texas Hill Country landscape. This provides a more natural and relaxing environment compared to urban RV parks.

  • Dedicated Dog Parks: For Texans traveling with their furry companions, Big Oaks RV Park features two gated dog parks. This is a significant highlight, offering safe and dedicated spaces for pets to play off-leash, a much-appreciated amenity for pet owners.

  • Veteran Owned and Operated: The park is proudly veteran-owned and operated, a point of distinction that may appeal to fellow veterans and those who wish to support veteran-led businesses.

  • Focus on Long-Term Stays: While accommodating short-term visitors, the park appears to have a significant number of long-term residents. This can create a more stable and community-oriented atmosphere, appealing to full-time RVers or those seeking an extended home base in the Austin area.

  • Clean and Quiet Environment: Many positive reviews highlight the park's cleanliness and quiet atmosphere, which are crucial for a relaxing RV experience. This indicates a well-maintained property where guests can unwind.

  • Accessibility for Large Rigs: The presence of pull-through sites and accommodations for large RVs ensures that most recreational vehicles can be comfortably parked within the park, catering to a wide range of RV owners.

  • Nearby Outdoor Recreation: Beyond the park itself, its location provides easy access to local parks like Brushy Creek Lake Park and Twin Lakes Park, offering trails for hiking and biking, lakes for kayaking and fishing, and various other outdoor activities.

While some operational aspects (like gravel roads and specific site challenges) have been mentioned in reviews, the core features of location, natural setting, and pet-friendliness remain strong highlights for Big Oaks RV Park.

Promotions or Special Offers

Big Oaks RV Park, like many RV parks, offers specific discounts and flexible rate structures rather than broad, time-limited "promotions" in the retail sense. These "offers" are designed to provide value to specific groups or for extended stays.

  • Veteran Discount: Big Oaks RV Park offers a 10% discount for veterans. This can be applied to daily rates, and it's generally recommended to contact the office for a promo code to apply this discount when booking. This is a significant appreciation for military service members.

  • UKB Tribal Member Discount: A specific 10% discount is available for UKB Tribal Members, indicating a unique partnership or recognition. Again, contacting the park for the promo code is advised.

  • Flexible Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Rates: While not a "discount," the park's tiered pricing structure means that longer stays (weekly or monthly) generally result in a lower nightly rate compared to booking individual nights. This is a standard practice in RV parks to incentivize extended visits.

  • Good Sam Club Discount: Many RV parks, including Big Oaks RV Park, are part of the Good Sam Club network and offer a 10% discount to Good Sam members. This is a widely used discount for RV enthusiasts across the country. Members usually need to present their valid Good Sam ID at check-in.

  • Potential Seasonal Offers: While not currently detailed as a broad public promotion, it's always worth checking the park's official website or calling directly during off-peak seasons or specific times of the year. Some parks might offer unadvertised specials to fill vacancies during quieter periods. However, recent reviews suggest that for some, the daily rate of around $75 may be perceived as high compared to other options like state parks or KOAs, indicating that the base rate might not always feel like a "deal" to every traveler, even with discounts.

Prospective campers are strongly encouraged to contact Big Oaks RV Park directly via phone or email to inquire about the most current rates, confirm eligibility for any discounts, and understand any terms and conditions associated with their stay. This will ensure transparency and help manage expectations.

This place must be putting in its own reviews. I am sure the owners will reply with a bunch of reasons for all the problems. Problems with electrical, sewer, 2 inch stones to walk and drive on, giant boulders every where to hit, more people living here than vacationers. I stay at a lot of RV parks all over the US. This place must have been designed by a high school contest. Plus the office is closed all weekend. If you have any problems it is your problem to call or text. Bring extention cords because they put the electrical so far back 99% of trailers will never reach it. Look at some of the pics the water and electrical can be 20 feet behind your site which is not normal as you know.. When we got there, I backed as far as I could until I toched the sharp giant boulder. And still I was a foot short in 100° weather to plug in. Had to go to lowes after driving for 4 hours at 10:00 at night. Spent $50 for a 12awg 15 amp cord. Because I had a standard house hold plug now on the extention cord the 15 amp b.reaker kept tripping. Like a game show I could only run 1 prize at a time, do you want AC, or cook you food, or hot water? You only get one. The goof ball who did the sewer made it so you cant use the standard threads so you have to just set your hose elbow in and ask a kid to sit on the sewer hose to keep it from poping out...lol. For $75 with taxes just stay at a state park or KOA. Plus there is a lot of live-ins here so kind of feels akward like you are in there home and stuff just stacked everywhere. Every site is unlevel but they will come help you level, um that would be ackward. Also because of the 2 inch death rocks you have to restabilze everything twice a day as your trailer rocks loose. Goods: it is clean and quiet and has all the big white rocks one could want.

Nice quiet park in general. But... the sites we had to choose from, 46 and 47, were awful. Very unlevel, couldn't even reach the ground with our stairs. See photo. Entry into the park is a, difficult u turn off the main road. Also, site was infested with huge anthill next to the sewer hookup, which invaded our brand new rv. It took 3 days to get rid of the ants. Lastly, the rock roads were terrible to wake and drive on. They need to resurface with proper, smaller, stone. On the plus side, the walking area in the back was nice, everything was fully functional. Lots of long term residents at this park.

The staff goes above and beyond, they are friendly and helpful. Rained a lot during our stay but the gravel roads and sites were good. Laundry room was exceptionally clean and easy to use. I did not see any bathroom facilities to comment on. I would recommend outdoor tables at the sites for when weather permits being outdoors. This was our second time visiting and the views are fantastic. We will return since we have family in the area to visit. Thank you Seth for all of you communications!

Park was clean, quiet, and shady. Laundry room is immaculately clean. I love the two sided dog park area. Only thing that needs improvement is that the park is not easy for elderly or wheelchairs to walk. I twisted my foot the first day on a road rock. It was not comfortable to my dogs to walk their either. I suggest you put a walking trail with something on it besides rocks.
