Burning Heart Campground About

It's a place where the comfort of your RV or tent meets the tranquility of a heavily tree-lined landscape, creating an inviting escape for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Burning Heart Campground is recognized for its spacious, shady sites and its prime location near various lake activities. While one review notes the absence of shower/restroom facilities within the same loop, the presence of full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) at every site is a significant draw for many campers, especially those with RVs. Its integration into Pomona State Park means campers also benefit from the park's wider amenities, making it a highly recommended spot for locals seeking a blend of comfort and outdoor adventure in Kansas.

Promotions or Special Offers

Burning Heart Campground, being a part of Pomona State Park and managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), operates under state park fee structures rather than offering private commercial promotions. However, there are ways for campers in Kansas to secure value and benefit:

  • Kansas State Park Annual Vehicle Permits: Purchasing an annual vehicle permit for Kansas State Parks can provide significant savings for frequent visitors, granting unlimited access to all state parks for a year. A state park vehicle permit is required for every motorized vehicle entering the park.

  • Standardized Camping Fees: Campsite fees for full hookup sites at Burning Heart Campground are typically competitive within the state park system, offering good value for the amenities provided.

  • Off-Peak Season Camping: While fees usually remain consistent, visiting during the less crowded spring or fall shoulder seasons can offer a more peaceful experience and better site availability.

Campsite fees generally vary based on the type of hookups provided (e.g., full hookup sites typically cost more than electric/water only). For the most accurate and up-to-date information on fees, availability, and specific reservation requirements for Burning Heart Campground, it is essential to consult the official KDWPT website (ksoutdoors.com) or use the ReserveAmerica platform where state park reservations are typically made. Reservations for some utility sites can be made, but primitive sites are often first-come, first-served. Booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during peak season, as sites can be in high demand.

1 star reduction for no shower/restroom in the same loop. Full hookup is great though. Heavily tree'd so take note for Starlink usage. Nonexistent T-Mobile service through out the park.

This is a beautiful campground we have been visiting for years. However it seems recently it has become more of a place where people now live full time. The nature and beauty is overshadowed by large moving trucks and broke down vehicles in campsites. It really has changed the feel of the campgrounds and not in a good way.
