Promotions or Special Offers

As Wolf Creek Campground is a part of Pomona State Park and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), its pricing and any potential promotions are generally aligned with state and federal recreation policies rather than frequent, independent campground deals. However, Kansas locals planning a visit can often benefit from existing programs and smart booking strategies:

  • Kansas State Park Vehicle Permit: For individuals or families who plan to visit Kansas State Parks frequently, purchasing an annual Kansas State Park Vehicle Permit is a cost-effective option. This permit covers the vehicle entrance fee for all Kansas State Parks throughout the year, offering significant savings over multiple visits. Separate daily vehicle permits are also available for single visits.
  • Federal Recreation Passes (America the Beautiful Pass): For eligible individuals (e.g., U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 62 or older, military personnel, or those with permanent disabilities), federal recreation passes such as the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass can offer discounts (often 50%) on campsite fees at federal sites like those managed by USACE.
  • Seasonal Rates: Camping fees at state and federal parks typically vary by season. Visitors might find lower rates during the quieter shoulder seasons (spring or fall) or on weekdays, which can also offer a more tranquil experience with fewer crowds compared to peak summer weekends and holidays.
  • Group Camp Reservations: The dedicated Wolf Creek Group Camp, with its amenities and size, offers a structured and potentially more economical option for large gatherings. Booking this facility in advance is recommended for organized events.
  • KDWP Special Events: While not a direct discount on camping, keeping an eye on the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) website or local park announcements might reveal special events, interpretive programs, or themed weekends at Pomona State Park that enhance the visitor experience without additional fees.

For the most accurate and current information on camping rates, specific site availability at Wolf Creek Campground, and any applicable promotions or reservation requirements, it is highly recommended to check the official Recreation.gov website (for USACE-managed sites) or the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) website, or to contact Pomona State Park directly using the provided phone numbers. Booking in advance, especially for popular times, is always advisable to secure your preferred site and ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping trip.

1st time in D-Loop (D-5). There was more than enough space between camp sites and more that enough space for my family of 4 and our 4 50+ pound dogs to spread out. We will be back in the future.

We reserved a site on the state side and ended up having lots of trouble with the electric box so we were looking for something else and happened upon Wolf Creek. They had an opening so we took it. Everything was great! We had enough room for our 45' camper, the slides went out great, we had our own space, all the neighbors were amazing, the camp sites were very well taken care of and maintained. The playgrounds were LOVED by our kids. The workers were very friendly and offered support and help through out our stay. Since we stayed here for the first time, we will not be going back to state side. We love this area and have camped back here a few times already and plan to do so a lot more.
