Cahokia RV Parque About

For RV enthusiasts and travelers exploring the heartland, finding a comfortable, convenient, and well-equipped place to park your home-on-wheels is essential. In Illinois, particularly for those looking to explore the vibrant St. Louis metropolitan area while staying on the Illinois side, Cahokia RV Parque emerges as a prominent option. This article aims to provide local Illinois users with a comprehensive, engaging, and factual overview of Cahokia RV Parque, highlighting its offerings and assessing its suitability for various types of RVers.

Cahokia RV Parque isn't just a place to hook up your utilities; it's designed to be a convenient base for adventures, whether you're passing through, staying for an extended period, or using it as a launchpad for exploring the myriad attractions of St. Louis. The park caters to a mix of short-term visitors and long-term residents, creating a diverse community on site. As you read on, we'll delve into the specifics of its location, the amenities it provides, and what current visitors have to say, helping you decide if Cahokia RV Parque aligns with your travel and accommodation needs in Illinois.

Location and Accessibility

The geographical position of an RV park is often the deciding factor for many travelers, influencing ease of travel and access to desired destinations. Cahokia RV Parque is strategically located at 4060 Mississippi Ave, Sauget, IL 62206, USA. This address places it just across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, making it one of the closest RV parks to the iconic Gateway Arch and other major St. Louis attractions.

The park boasts "great highway access," making it "very easy to get to downtown STL." It's situated near Illinois Route 3 and Camp Jackson Road, providing direct routes to interstate highways and bridges connecting to Missouri. While the proximity to major roads is a significant advantage for accessibility, it also means the park is in a "heavily industrialized area." This can result in "24/7" noise, including frequent trains blowing whistles and busy road traffic. Turning left out of the campground can be "insanely busy and nearly impossible," suggesting that right turns and strategic routing might be necessary for smoother departures.

Despite the industrial surroundings, the primary benefit of Cahokia RV Parque's location is its unparalleled proximity to St. Louis. It's advertised as being "only 5 minutes to the Arch" and offers a shuttle service to various city attractions. This makes it an excellent base for day trips to explore Busch Stadium, the City Museum, St. Louis Zoo, various casinos, and other cultural and entertainment venues without the hassle of navigating inner-city RV parking. For those focused on exploring the Gateway City, the convenience of location often outweighs the surrounding industrial landscape.

  • On-site RV Service (Limited): Some sources mention onsite RV service, though details are scarce, suggesting it might be limited.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: The park is pet-friendly, with specific rules regarding leashing, cleanup, and not leaving pets unattended outside the RV.
  • Playground Area: A playground is available for children, making it a more family-friendly option.
  • Pavilion: A communal pavilion area is provided, potentially for gatherings or relaxation.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this campground while we vacationed in St. Louis for Spring Break. The campground has great highway access, very easy to get to downtown STL. Only issue is its location in a heavily industrialized area. I knew this beforehand but underestimated the amount of noise that occurs 24/7. The first night there was a train rolling through every 30 mins blowing its whistle. The road is insanely busy and nearly impossible to turn left out of. My other issue... there is a neighborhood located across the wide road- It is sketchy x1000. We unknowingly drove through the area when avoiding the left turn out of the campground- I am talking crumbling and burnt down homes, absolute blight. The campground itself was nice for us as a couple. It was quiet and most of the time you did not see many people. There are a lot of long term residents there, but the campground was completely full due to Spring Break so there were quite a few visitors as well. We loved the fact that there was a BBQ place right on the campus you could walk to. Food and service was great! Many of the gravel pads were new and freshly graded- very easy to park and level our camper. The bath house could use a little updating in my opinion, it was a little dark in the shower area. One toilet was out of service in the women's. My husband said the men's was in worse shape with pretty bad shower heads and one shower broken. The owners were very nice, check in process was easy and they called to verify our time of arrival the day of.

Not happy and will not return. They advertise Wi-Fi, give you a password and only then do you find out that they only have it in parts of the park; obviously not where we were. Expensive rate of $61, but limited 30 AMP sites and if you can use a 30/50 AMP site they charge an extra $5. What for? My inconvenience? Then the final kicker, if you leave past 11:00 am, they change $5/hour for every extra hour. Just hate their entitled attitude. Such a disappointment.

Cross country RV trip with the family, and we needed a rest for the night. We arrived rather late in the evening, but our online reservation was still available. We got into the RV park with very little maneuvering. The RV slips are very large, and the connections were easy to connect and made the process a lot easier. We were in town for only the night, but it was enough to know that we will be back. If you happen to be in the area, please check out Cahokia RV Parque, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

Great place to park ur RV. Staff super friendly. The park is located next to a very busy intersection. This makes it very noisy as 18 wheelers are constantly driving by and sirens and trains are always heard on a daily basis.
