However, Indiana residents can still benefit from various cost-saving options and special access:
Annual Entrance Permits (AEPs): Indiana residents can purchase an in-state annual entrance permit for state parks and recreation areas. This permit provides unlimited entry for a year and can significantly reduce costs for frequent visitors, covering the gate fees.
Golden Hoosier Permits: Senior Indiana residents (65 and older) may be eligible for a discounted "Golden Hoosier Permit," offering further savings on state park entrance fees.
Off-Season Rates: Camping rates are often reduced during the off-peak season (typically November through April), although some amenities may be closed or winterized during this time.
Online Reservation System: While not a "promotion," using the Indiana DNR's online reservation system (ReserveAmerica) allows campers to plan and secure their preferred sites in advance, which is highly recommended, especially during peak camping seasons and for popular events like "Christmas in July."
For the most accurate and current information on camping fees, entrance fees, and any specific event-related details, it is always best to consult the official Indiana DNR website for Shakamak State Park or contact the park office directly.

Customer Reviews
Was not aware they had a public pool for summer, we will come back again.
Went to Christmas in July and wanted to drive around and look at the decorations and The Grinch ( older lady at the campground shack) denied us entry after paying the entrance fee. Luckily, the young lady gave us our entrance fee back and apologized repeatedly for the lady at the campground post. Isn't that what Christmas in July is for? To be able to pay the entrance fee and drive around to look at everyone's decorations. My nine year old was super disappointed to say the least.
They did update the showers, now if they can fix the roads.
great people, nice campground.
Shakamak is my go to camping spot for many, many years now.
