The experience of being elevated among the trees, waking up to the sounds of wildlife, and enjoying the tranquility of a wooded setting is a significant draw for adventurous souls.
It's vital for prospective visitors to understand that this is a rustic experience. The reviews emphasize that this is "def an experience," and highlight that there are "NO mattresses" and "No bathrooms fyi." This transparency helps set appropriate expectations, ensuring that those who choose to stay are prepared for a more basic, yet profoundly natural, accommodation. For those who are "used to the woods" and embrace a simpler way of living for a short period, this can be an incredibly rewarding adventure. The "creepy at night if you aren’t used to the woods" comment further underscores the raw, untamed nature of the location, which for some is a feature, not a bug.
For North Carolina locals looking to step outside their comfort zone and embrace a truly unique form of outdoor lodging, Cashie River Treehouse Village offers an unforgettable opportunity. It’s a chance to challenge perceptions of what a "campground" or "accommodation" can be, providing a story-worthy experience nestled in the verdant landscapes of Eastern North Carolina. Read on to discover all the essential details that make this treehouse village a distinct choice for your next adventure.
Cashie River Treehouse Village is uniquely situated in Windsor, NC 27983, USA. While a precise street address isn't widely publicized, its location within Windsor, particularly implied by its association with the Cashie River, places it in a naturally rich and somewhat secluded area of Eastern North Carolina. This setting is integral to the treehouse experience, emphasizing immersion in the natural environment rather than urban convenience.
Windsor itself is a charming town in Bertie County, known for its small-town atmosphere and connection to the Cashie River. The treehouse village's location suggests it is nestled within the wooded areas bordering the river, providing the rustic and "in the woods" feel highlighted by customers. While this offers desirable seclusion and tranquility, it also implies a more rugged accessibility compared to highly developed campgrounds.
For North Carolina residents, reaching Windsor is generally straightforward via state highways such as US-13 and NC-17. These routes provide access from various parts of Eastern North Carolina. However, once in Windsor, finding the precise location of the treehouse village may involve navigating local roads that lead into more natural, wooded areas. The experience of "having to cart our stuff almost half a mile" as mentioned by a reviewer suggests that vehicle access might not be directly to each treehouse, reinforcing the secluded and immersive nature of the site.
This level of accessibility, while providing a unique sense of escape, means visitors should be prepared for a more rustic approach. It's designed for those who appreciate being deep within nature, away from immediate urban conveniences. While basic supplies can be acquired in Windsor, the primary focus of the location is the natural setting itself. The remoteness contributes to the "creepy at night if you aren’t used to the woods" aspect, which for adventurous campers, adds to the authenticity of the experience rather than detracting from it. The location is a feature in itself, offering a truly wilder encounter with North Carolina's natural landscapes.
Cashie River Treehouse Village offers a very specific and minimalist set of services, focusing on providing a rustic, immersive outdoor experience rather than a full-service campground. This is a glamping experience that leans heavily into the "camping" aspect of glamping.
It is absolutely critical to note what is explicitly not offered or is limited, based on customer reviews:
In summary, Cashie River Treehouse Village offers a minimalist, rustic glamping experience focused on natural immersion. Guests should arrive fully prepared with their own bedding, lighting, and a plan for primitive sanitation, understanding that the primary "service" is the unique treehouse accommodation and a deep connection with the untamed woods.

Without specific promotional information provided directly from Cashie River Treehouse Village, it's important to guide prospective visitors on what kinds of value to inquire about when contacting them.

For North Carolina locals who are genuinely seeking a departure from conventional lodging and a deeply immersive experience in nature, Cashie River Treehouse Village in Windsor, NC, offers a uniquely suitable opportunity. It’s not for everyone, but for those with a spirit of adventure and a willingness to embrace rustic charm, it provides an unforgettable escape that aligns with specific preferences for outdoor exploration and disconnection.
Firstly, its primary suitability lies in its distinctiveness. For locals who have experienced traditional campgrounds or hotels and crave something truly different, the concept of sleeping elevated in a treehouse is inherently appealing. It offers a novel perspective on the familiar North Carolina woods, transforming a simple overnight stay into a memorable story. This unique "experience," as customers describe it, is a significant draw for those looking to expand their outdoor repertoire.
Secondly, for Virginians "used to the woods" and prepared for a more rugged encounter with nature, the Cashie River Treehouse Village provides an authentic immersion. While the lack of conventional amenities like immediate bathrooms and mattresses requires preparation, it also means a deeper connection to the natural environment. This "no frills" approach fosters self-reliance and allows guests to fully appreciate the raw beauty and "peaceful sounds of nature" away from modern distractions. It’s a chance to truly disconnect and embrace a simpler way of being, which for many locals, is the true essence of an outdoor getaway.
Furthermore, its seasonal suitability is a key advantage. While summer might be challenging due to heat (as highlighted by reviews), the "Perfect for the fall or even winter" comment reveals its potential as a cozy, sheltered retreat during cooler months. For locals who enjoy year-round outdoor activities but seek more protection than a tent offers in colder weather, the treehouse provides an ideal solution, extending the camping season and offering unique experiences during autumn foliage or crisp winter nights.
Finally, despite its rustic nature, the positive feedback on "customer service" is a reassuring factor. Knowing that even in a secluded, minimalist setting, there are responsive and helpful individuals to assist with needs, adds a crucial layer of comfort and safety for adventurers. This personal touch, combined with its distinct offering, makes Cashie River Treehouse Village suitable for North Carolina locals who are ready for an adventurous, back-to-basics, and truly unique encounter with their state's beautiful woodlands.
Do not go in July if you ain’t ready for the heat. It’s def creepy at night if you aren’t used to the woods. Room has a fan and plenty of windows however even with the small wind, you will be hot at night. Perfect for the fall or even winter. No bathrooms fyi. Def an experience and love the customer service!
Feb 23, 2024 · Cya VsqzWe were so hopeful about this place, but from the getgo it was disappointing. The "cabins" are not nearly as nice as the pics would suggest and they're very misleading. There are NO mattresses, so be aware. There is only a table and 4 mismatched chairs and it was filled with cobwebs...and for WHATEVER reason, since there were no other people in the cabins, they put us in the next to last one and we ended up having to cart our stuff almost half a mile, which also made going to the bathroom a chore. 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend this place
Sep 08, 2024 · Shari NoyceAbsolutely gorgeous place to stay! Up in the trees overlooking the Cashie River. The houses are well constructed, the bath facility is super nice and clean. There are a few electric outlets and an overhead light in the cabins. If you come in the summer, definitely bring a fan or two.
Jul 17, 2021 · Josh AycockSuch a beautiful place. I look forward to returning to the Cashie River Treehouses! This is a great place to unplug from the daily demands of life and enjoy the calm! The treehouses are very clean and comfortable for those that love the outdoors. I highly recommend for couples and families!
Sep 20, 2021 · CaseyThe weekend was hot hot hot, but We new that going in. Enjoyed it greatly, we will do it again soon. Caught fish, un hooked from the world, enjoyed God creation singing, breathing. Lots to do within 5 mins of camp. Small zoo, playgrounds, picnic area, river walk, kayaking and Wildlife center. Reasturants near by heritage house and Lucia's puzza, Bunns barbeque, family dollar. Loved it.
