It's not designed for the transient overnight visitor but rather for those seeking a more permanent, relaxed, and family-oriented camping lifestyle by the lake. The focus here is on creating lasting memories and a welcoming environment for its members.

Sherwood Forest Campground offers a core set of services tailored to its long-term camping model, prioritizing a comfortable and secure living environment for its members. While it intentionally foregoes some of the expansive amenities found in larger, more commercial campgrounds, its services are focused on supporting a relaxed, extended stay.

Services Offered:

  • Year-Round Camping: A significant service is its operation as a year-round campground, providing continuous access for long-term residents.
  • Gated Community: The campground is gated, offering a heightened sense of security and controlled access for residents and their guests.
  • Well-Maintained Grounds: Both owners and campers contribute to keeping the grounds well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant and clean environment.
  • Pet-Friendly Environment: The campground welcomes pets, recognizing them as part of the family, with an understanding that most residents are responsible pet owners.

  • Good Sense of Security: The gated entrance provides residents with an enhanced feeling of safety and security.
  • Well-Lit Grounds (where needed): Lighting is strategically placed to enhance security without detracting from the camping ambiance.
  • Most Everyone Knows Each Other: This fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, where residents are familiar with and supportive of one another.

When it comes to promotions or special offers at Sherwood Forest Campground, interested individuals should bear in mind its unique model as a long-term, year-round campground with a strong community focus. Publicly advertised seasonal discounts or short-term promotions common at transient campgrounds are less likely. Instead, the "promotion" here is the consistent value and welcoming environment offered for extended stays.

However, it is always recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about:

  • Availability of long-term sites.
  • Current pricing for monthly or annual leases.
  • Any specific terms or conditions for joining the community.
  • Whether there are any waitlists for sites, given its popularity.

Direct communication with the owners or management team will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the process of becoming a member of the Sherwood Forest Campground community. This personalized approach ensures you understand all the benefits and requirements of a long-term stay.

This is a hidden jewel of a campground. Geared towards long term campers, SFC lends it self to great family and friend experiences. While it may lack some of the amenities of larger corporate campgrounds it more than makes up for it with reasonable pricing, beautiful scenery, convenient access to boating/ water sports/ beach going, and the ability socialize with your neighbors in a relaxed atmosphere. Great place full of good times.

As a member of SFC for a few years now my experience has been nothing short of awesome! I'm writing this review solely with the intent to condone the most recent negative review that was posted. After doing a little research into this particular person's review. I quickly realized all the reviews this person has posted, have been negative ones by nature. And so be it, everyone is entitled to their opinion. So, here's mine! Life is about choices... SFC thankfully is a year round campground, it is gated and it is full of people absolutely grateful to have the opportunity to stay at Lake Gaston without having to shell out millions of dollars to experience it! Another advantage of the campground and not a secret. Is the fact that by being a year-round campground, it inherently more often than not keeps out negative minded transient campers that are just passing through. To them I say, do your research before writing a negative review! SFC is not advertised as an overnight place to camp, but there are campgrounds like that here at LKG. Oh, and by the way they have waiting lists too. So, if you're looking to spend a night or two you should probably get on a list and maybe you can experience LKG next year! Kudos to the owners for their professional response to Mr. Negativity. I myself have said my peace! In closing Sherwood Forest Campground is no doubt a family oriented place, and in my opinion full of very happy campers. The grounds are well maintained by owners and campers alike. It is a pet friendly place and most everyone knows each other's name. It is gated providing a nice sense of security and the grounds are lit where need be but not enough to take away from the feeling that you're camping. In closing, if this campground is not what you're looking for. Well then, life is about choices... Go somewhere else!
