Such a cute and friendly area to stay, the landowners are so sweet and accommodating and drove us up to their hiking trails when we asked where they were. The old 1800’s tunnel is a cool site, and the hiking trails are well maintained. There is electric at each tent site and shade at some, the bathhouse was really clean and cute, and the beach areas are well maintained and beautiful.

I had a great experience at Castor River Campground. I took a group of high schoolers here to camp and watch the solar eclipse. Mary and her crew were so accommodating to my group. The campsite was clean and gorgeous right along side the river with a nice covered picnic table designed as a counter top one side that made meal prep easy. The grounds had nice trails to hike. The restrooms were clean and homey. Mary even work out getting enough canoes for my group to enjoy a float down the river before the eclipse.

NO ELECTRIC or WATER at tent site like indicateded on website. Only one shower and toilet at "bathhouse". Water quit working 5 minutes into shower and wouldn't come back on. Not even in sink. Not worth the $40 a night per tent that we paid! Also no trash SERVICE. No shade at tent sites! Shuttle fee of $30 for them to take you 2 miles up the road and drop you off to float. Not included in the $40 per kayak fee. WON'T BE BACK! Only got the one star for the fun we had on the river!!
