Today, we're going to explore Deer Trail Resort and Campground in Longville, Minnesota, a place that, despite its acknowledged need for modernization, holds a special place in the hearts of its long-time visitors. It's a testament to the enduring appeal of simplicity and genuine Northwoods charm.
Deer Trail Resort and Campground embodies a classic Minnesota resort experience, focusing on the natural beauty of its surroundings and the warmth of a family-run establishment. We understand that when you're looking for a local retreat, you might be seeking more than just amenities; you're often looking for character, history, and a peaceful atmosphere. This article will delve into what makes Deer Trail Resort and Campground unique, drawing on heartfelt customer reviews to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what you can expect from this cherished Longville destination.
What truly defines Deer Trail Resort, according to its dedicated visitors, is its authentic, no-frills character. One loyal guest passionately stated, "I have to admit, I love Deer Trail Resort! It's not for the faint of heart. There's nothing fancy or luxurious about it. In fact, it's in serious need of modernizing. The beds could be more comfortable and the cabins are definitely rustic. The docks are in disrepair and the advertised boats are lacking." This frank assessment, surprisingly, is followed by an unequivocal declaration of love: "But, I love it because it is like my second home. Or maybe, even closer to my home." This sentiment speaks volumes, indicating that for many, the resort's enduring appeal lies in its genuine, lived-in feel and the comfort of familiarity.
The resort's deep connection to its past and its beautiful lake are also prominent highlights. The reviewer fondly recalled, "The lake is clean and clear and so refreshing. I have enjoyed the beautiful lake since I can remember." This direct appreciation for the natural environment is a core reason why Minnesotans seek out such places. The review also paints a picture of a truly family-run operation, where "Alice, the owner, has always seemed like family," and Rebecca, her caretaker and manager, has done a "decent job taking over duties." However, a recent review brings heartbreaking news, stating that "a fire took their life, about two weeks ago. Sorry for her family's loss, and all who knew her." This tragic update underscores the deeply personal and generational connection many visitors have with the resort and its owners. It also suggests a period of transition for the resort as it navigates these profound losses.
While modernization might be on some wish lists, the prevailing feeling among its advocates is a desire for its core essence to remain intact: "To be honest, I would be sad if it changed to much." This highlights its role as a beloved, traditional Minnesota retreat. Sorry for her family's loss, and all who knew her. She was an amazing lady The stories she told of how her husband and her built Deer Trail Resort. ❤ feeling sad.
Aug 06, 2017 · Becky LuciusWe've had our trailer there for years, even up graded our trailer after many funtastic years here. Reasonable, and great fishing, designing and entertainment. Hardest art is the the road construction and time it takes to get out of the cities, to get there!! More fun with kids, but we find things to do,and places to go.
