Are you an Arkansas resident seeking a tranquil and picturesque camping experience where the sounds of nature provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation? Look no further than Devil's Den Area A Campground. Tucked away within the renowned Devil's Den State Park in West Fork, this campground is celebrated for its serene atmosphere, ample shade, and a layout that truly prioritizes privacy and connection with the natural environment. While primarily geared for tent camping, it also welcomes smaller campers, making it a versatile option for a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts across the state.
Devil's Den State Park itself is a jewel in Arkansas's crown, famous for its unique rock formations, extensive trail systems, and a rich history embodied in its Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) architecture. Area A perfectly complements this natural grandeur, offering a peaceful retreat where campers can unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of outdoor living. Imagine spending your days hiking rugged trails, then returning to a quiet, shaded campsite, lulled by the gentle murmur of Lee Creek nearby. This introduction will delve into the distinct charm and practical advantages of Devil's Den Area A Campground, highlighting why it stands out as an exceptional choice for locals eager to discover a truly relaxing and immersive camping experience in the heart of Arkansas.
Devil's Den Area A Campground is located within the iconic Devil's Den State Park, with its general address being West Fork, AR 72774, USA. This prime location places it deep within the scenic Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, yet it remains remarkably accessible for residents across the state. West Fork is a charming, rural community that serves as the gateway to the park, offering a peaceful transition from urban life to wilderness retreat.
Access to Devil's Den State Park is well-established through state highways. From Interstate 49, travelers can take State Highway 170 (Exit #53) at West Fork for approximately 17 miles directly to the park. This route is generally well-maintained and suitable for most vehicles, including those towing smaller campers. While another route, State Highway 74 from I-49 near Winslow (Exit #45), also leads to the park, it is known for being steeper and more winding, making Hwy 170 often the preferred choice, especially for those with trailers.
Once inside Devil's Den State Park, Area A is clearly marked, guiding visitors to their destination. The campground's layout includes "giant rocks along the road," which act as natural barriers, preventing vehicles from driving off the road and preserving the natural integrity of the sites. This thoughtful design, combined with its location within a well-maintained state park, ensures a smooth and enjoyable arrival for campers seeking a tranquil escape in the Arkansas wilderness.
Devil's Den Area A Campground is designed to offer a comfortable and serene camping experience, particularly for tent campers and smaller recreational vehicles. While it emphasizes a more natural setting, it still provides essential services that enhance a multi-night stay:

Stayed at the Area A campground. Its geared for tents but you can fit smaller campers on the sites (i have a 12ft popup) the sites are not laid out for campers tho. The firepit and picnic table were on the opposite side as the camper door. Most every site is nicely shaded so if you have a small camper and can do without electricity i would recommend it. There are giant rocks along the road so there is no driving off the road.
Jun 18, 2023 · Jason ClementsReally impressed with this campground. Very clean, quiet, spaced out, and in an awesome location overall. Each lot is private and offers lots of room to relax and put your personal things. Lee Creek runs right next to the campgrounds and it’s very relaxing to hear the running water in the background. Also nice to have the park ranger drive by often to make sure everything is okay in the area, which we appreciated. We will absolutely be back.
Dec 30, 2020 · Cruiser PlotlineThe hot water in the camping bathroom is HOT so watch out kids. The sink faucets almost poke one’s eyes out when rinsing the mouth. Paid Wi-Fi available.
