LakeView Overlook Arkansas About
For Arkansas residents traveling through the scenic Ozark Mountains, LakeView Overlook Arkansas on Highway 71 in Mountainburg presents itself as a notable roadside stop, particularly for those in recreational vehicles. Described as a "beautiful little pullout on the side of the road," this location offers more than just a place to rest; it provides a vantage point for appreciating the stunning natural landscape and holds a curious connection to local history.
While not a conventional, full-service RV park in the traditional sense with extensive amenities, LakeView Overlook Arkansas is recognized for its picturesque setting. It’s a spot where you can pause your journey, take in expansive views, and potentially connect with the serene beauty of the region. However, it's crucial for prospective visitors to be aware that experiences at such unique, less structured locations can vary significantly. This article aims to provide a factual overview of LakeView Overlook Arkansas, highlighting its features for local users, while also acknowledging the important considerations raised in public reviews to ensure a well-informed decision for your Arkansas travels.
LakeView Overlook Arkansas is located at 20100 N Hwy 71, Mountainburg, AR 72946, USA. This places it directly along U.S. Highway 71, a major route traversing Northwest Arkansas and the Ozark Mountains. Highway 71 is a well-maintained road, making the pullout easily accessible for RVs, trailers, and other vehicles.
The location in Mountainburg means it is situated within an area celebrated for its natural beauty, including close proximity to lakes, state parks, and national forests. Specifically, it is near Lake Fort Smith and various trail systems that crisscross the Ozarks. Being a "pullout on the side of the road" implies direct and immediate access from the highway, allowing for convenient stops for those passing through or seeking a quick scenic break.
While its roadside nature offers ease of access, it also means it is less secluded than a dedicated, off-the-beaten-path campground. Visitors should expect some level of road noise, particularly during peak travel times. The benefit of this accessibility, however, is that it provides a readily available spot to enjoy the "lake view" implied by its name and to break up a longer journey through this picturesque part of Arkansas.
Based on the description of LakeView Overlook Arkansas as a "little pullout on the side of the road" and the limited nature of the provided reviews, it's important to set realistic expectations regarding the services offered. This is not a full-service RV park with extensive amenities, but rather a basic, scenic stop. Typical services found at such a location would be minimal and primarily focused on providing a transient parking spot. Common amenities that might be present at a roadside pullout or informal RV parking area include:
- Parking Space: The primary service is providing a designated area for RVs and other vehicles to pull off the main highway and park. This would likely be suitable for a temporary stop rather than an extended stay.
- Scenic Views: As the name "LakeView Overlook" suggests, and confirmed by reviews, the location offers "beautiful" views of the surrounding landscape, likely including a lake or distant vistas. This can be considered a natural service or feature that draws visitors.
- Accessibility: The ease of pulling off Highway 71 directly into the spot is a practical service for travelers seeking a quick rest or photo opportunity.
It is crucial to note what services are NOT typically provided at such a "pullout" and are not indicated by the provided information:
- No RV Hookups: There is no indication of electricity, water, or sewer hookups for RVs. Visitors should assume this is a "boondocking" or self-contained parking spot.
- No Restroom Facilities: Public restrooms are unlikely to be available at a simple roadside pullout.
- No Dedicated Amenities: Features like showers, laundry facilities, a game room, Wi-Fi, picnic tables, or designated fire pits are generally not part of such a basic setup.
- No On-Site Staff/Management: Unlike a commercial RV park, there is no mention of dedicated on-site staff for check-ins, assistance, or maintaining the property. The owner's alleged behavior, as described in a review, further supports the idea of an unmanaged or minimally managed location.
Therefore, visitors considering LakeView Overlook Arkansas should be entirely self-sufficient and prepared for a very basic, informal stopping point, prioritizing the views over amenities.
- Beautiful Scenic Views: The most significant and universally agreed-upon highlight of LakeView Overlook Arkansas is its "beautiful" scenery. As the name suggests, it offers impressive vistas of the surrounding landscape, likely including a lake or a broad expanse of the Ozark Mountains. This makes it an ideal spot for photography or simply pausing to appreciate nature.
- Roadside Accessibility: Located directly on Highway 71, it offers a convenient and easy "pullout" for travelers. This allows for spontaneous stops to rest, stretch, and enjoy the scenery without significant detours.
- Historical Connection (Alleged): One review mentions an intriguing historical detail: "I was told by my Lodge host that it used to be a schoolhouse in 1830, and the original school had been moved to Van Buren." While this is anecdotal and not officially verified, it adds a layer of local charm and historical curiosity for those interested in the area's past.
- Informal and Unstructured Environment: For some travelers, the lack of formal rules, check-in processes, or extensive facilities can be a highlight, offering a more free-form and less commercialized stopping experience.
Given the description of LakeView Overlook Arkansas as a "little pullout on the side of the road" and the nature of the provided reviews (suggesting a private or informally managed space rather than a commercial RV park), it is highly unlikely that there would be any formal "promotions or special offers" available. This location does not appear to operate with a traditional booking system, nor does it seem to have advertised rates or discounts.
As an informal stopping point, its primary "offer" is the scenic view and the availability of a place to park temporarily. There would be no seasonal discounts, extended stay rates, or membership benefits associated with such a basic setup.
If there were any informal arrangements for parking or staying longer, this would typically be communicated directly on-site or through local word-of-mouth rather than through official channels or promotions. Therefore, visitors should assume there are no special offers, and any "cost" would either be non-existent for a temporary stop, or an informal arrangement if an owner were to engage with visitors for an overnight stay.
For any inquiries about the possibility of staying longer or any potential arrangements, the only point of contact would be the provided phone numbers. However, based on the customer review regarding the owner's alleged behavior, potential visitors, especially solo female travelers, should exercise extreme caution before attempting to make direct contact or plan an overnight stay.

Due to the nature of this location as a "pullout on the side of the road" and the concerning review regarding alleged owner behavior, prospective visitors, particularly solo female travelers, are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution before attempting to contact or visit this location, especially for an overnight stay. The provided phone numbers are the only available contact points, but travelers should prioritize their safety and well-being.
For Arkansas residents, LakeView Overlook Arkansas presents a complex suitability. On one hand, its inherent features—a "beautiful little pullout on the side of the road" with potentially historical ties—make it an accessible and attractive spot for a quick, scenic break or a momentary appreciation of the state's natural beauty. For locals who are familiar with the area and looking for a spontaneous roadside stop to stretch their legs and enjoy a view, it offers a convenient option on Highway 71 in the picturesque Ozark Mountains.
The alleged historical anecdote about it being a former schoolhouse, if verified locally, could add a quaint charm for those interested in Arkansas's past, providing a brief educational moment during a drive. For day-trippers or those passing through, a short stop to take photos and enjoy the vista could be a pleasant addition to their journey.
However, and this is a critical consideration for locals, the severe cautionary review regarding the owner's alleged late-night behavior raises significant safety concerns, particularly for solo female travelers. For any extended stay or overnight parking, this review strongly advises against it. While the natural setting is undeniably appealing, the safety and comfort of visitors must always take precedence.
Therefore, while the "LakeView Overlook" itself offers a scenic point of interest for a brief, daytime stop to admire the views and perhaps reflect on its rumored history, it cannot be recommended for overnight stays or as a typical RV park destination, especially for vulnerable individuals, until the very serious concerns raised in public reviews are definitively addressed and verified as safe. Locals seeking a reliable and secure RV park experience should prioritize establishments with consistently positive safety records and readily available, professionally managed amenities.
Customer Reviews
Beautiful little pullout on the side of the road. I was told by my Lodge host that it used to be a schoolhouse in 1830, and the original school had been moved to Van Buren.
The owner is an alcoholic who rides around on a lawn mower in the middle of the night. One night he was at my door, not knocking, but trying to open my RV door roughly around midnight-1AM. It’s a beautiful location but if you’re a female traveling alone I would not recommend.
It is so incredibly beautiful here. The leaves are beginning to change and the temps are definitely cooler! Go out and see the beauty! Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy your loved ones and the scenery!
Very nice and helpful owner. Small and very quite, beautiful views, has tub to wash pets in, free laundry. Visit was great.
Best view in the area! Scenic overlook is a little slice of heaven. Prices are very inexpensive and there are shower facilities on site.
