For Pennsylvanians seeking a genuine escape that blends the rugged beauty of the Endless Mountains with the comfort of modern lodging, Elk Creek Escape in Hillsgrove, PA, presents a compelling destination. As a newer venture revitalizing the grounds of a former Little League summer camp, this location is quickly becoming a favorite for locals looking for a multi-faceted outdoor retreat. Elk Creek Escape is not just a campground; it’s a fully planned destination that accommodates everything from luxurious, fully-equipped cabins to traditional tent camping and RV stays.
Nestled in the heart of Sullivan County, the focus here is on providing a peaceful environment where guests can fully immerse themselves in the surrounding state forest lands and natural waters. The concept is simple: offer a base camp that feels both remote and accommodating, allowing you to spend your days hiking, fishing, or simply relaxing by a fire, and your nights in comfortable, clean lodging. The positive feedback highlights the elegance and convenience of the fully-equipped cabins, appealing to visitors who want a true getaway without sacrificing their creature comforts. The staff and ownership are frequently praised for their dedication to guest satisfaction, ensuring that local visitors feel welcome and well-cared for.
The experience is about creating lasting memories against a breathtaking backdrop of mountains and deep forests, a key element of the cherished Pennsylvania vacation. It caters perfectly to both the seasoned camper and the "city girl" looking for an accessible, stylish taste of the outdoors.
Elk Creek Escape is located in the scenic and sparsely populated region of Hillsgrove, Pennsylvania, placing it right in the middle of some of the Commonwealth’s most celebrated natural attractions. Its official address is: 47 Covered Bridge Rd, Hillsgrove, PA 18619, USA.
This Sullivan County location is a prime spot for local visitors, offering the deep-woods seclusion that many Pennsylvanians prize, while still being accessible via state and local routes. Crucially, the campground is strategically situated near several major outdoor landmarks. It is just a short drive from the entrance to Worlds End State Park, famous for its rugged, scenic hiking and the Loyalsock Gorge. It is also close to the beautiful Loyalsock Creek, making it a perfect spot for those interested in fishing, kayaking, and tubing. Furthermore, the area provides access to the popular High Knob Overlook, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Endless Mountains.
For local travelers, the drive into Hillsgrove is part of the experience, winding through mountain roads and small, historic towns. It’s important to note the remote nature of the area; some reviews mention limited cell service, which for many locals is a feature, not a drawback, reinforcing the feeling of a true 'escape.' However, the campground's proximity to a public boat launch on the Loyalsock River via Elk Creek further highlights its convenience for watersport enthusiasts throughout the region.
Elk Creek Escape offers a diverse and comprehensive list of services and accommodations, catering to all types of Pennsylvania travelers, from those seeking a luxury 'glamping' experience to traditional tent campers and RV enthusiasts.
The highlights of Elk Creek Escape are centered around its facilities, community atmosphere, and unmatched access to the best of the Endless Mountains region.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals—Elk Creek Escape offers an outstanding proposition for Pennsylvania residents because it perfectly marries the need for a scenic, secluded natural getaway with the desire for modern convenience and accessibility. For us, the value of a retreat is often measured by its proximity to natural landmarks like Worlds End State Park and the excellent Loyalsock Creek fishing and kayaking—all of which are immediately available here. The unique blend of accommodating fully-equipped cabins, full hookup RV sites, and traditional tent spots means this location can serve a wide range of local travelers, from the family wanting an elegant cabin experience to the devoted angler bringing their trailer.
The property's commitment to community perks, such as the clubhouse and various sports fields, provides built-in entertainment, while the pet-friendly policy ensures that no family member is left behind. Though a few minor inconsistencies exist (as is common with any renewed large property), the overall positive sentiment emphasizes the amazing scenery, dedicated staff, and the true relaxation offered. Elk Creek Escape is an excellent, well-equipped base camp for Pennsylvanians looking to explore the rugged heart of the state and create cherished family memories against a truly breathtaking mountain backdrop.

Came here over the weekend, and by far this was the best Cabin-outdoors trip experience we have had! 10/10 highly recommend! They go quick so plan ahead! Loved the property, and cabins are equipped with everything you need! So elegant for a city girl I didn’t even know I was in the middle of nowhere ⭐️the mountains surrounding us were breathtaking and the owner and staff literally go above and beyond to make your trip amazing! Cannot wait for summertime to come back and stay longer!!!
Jan 03, 2024 · Amandaa Vroombout (AJVOrlando)The owners were very kind, but we were disappointed because we chose this place counting on the pool. Although it is advertised, the pool is out of service. Additionally, there isn’t much to do in the area. We believe the owners should be more responsible in advertising what is truly available for their guests. The bathrooms and showers were not very clean either, and the Wi-Fi signal was very weak. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights.
Aug 10, 2025 · Tania María Colon TiradoWe loved our stay at Elk Creek Escape. My family had such meaningful time together. We shot pool and played pingpong. The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was stocked with a lot of things we needed. Very nice pots and pans. The fridge even had ketchup and mustard and relish. Connie helped us with all of our requests. She absolutely went above and beyond to meet our expectations. The hot tub was so relaxing. We definitely can't wait to stay again. We've been doing camping rentals for years now and this was definitely one of the best.
May 30, 2023 · Billtown BikerWe were scheduled to stay for three nights and after driving 4 hours with a child and two dogs in the car, we learned within minutes of arriving they doubled booked and had no place for us. They made us call Airbnb to dispute the charges and Connie has yet to call us to apologize for the inconvenience and/or determine a future stay. Last thing I’ll note that when we arrived Brian who was the landscaper/on site contact explained that this was not the first time this has happened and expressed frustration. Continuing to manage the property like this will not last long as this has ruined peoples hard earned vacations and family memories. Unacceptable.
Jul 09, 2025 · Nicole SchmidtWe were a little confused at first because it wasn't what we expected based on Campspot information. However, Cody was very helpful and accommodating!! He made every effort to provide what we needed during our stay. He went above and beyond with a smile! We expected to be able to swim, but the pool was empty. Wifi did not reach the tent area. Looks like the camp is undergoing renovation and improving its tent offerings. We would visit again, but camp is further from home than we anticipated. Quiet & beautiful place to camp.
