Welcome to Four Springs Farm & Campground, a hidden gem nestled on a west-facing hillside in the heart of central Vermont. For those of us living in the Green Mountain State, finding a true escape that merges the rustic charm of nature with a genuine local experience can be a challenge. This South Royalton destination offers a unique and authentic Vermont farm stay, combining a tranquil, low-impact camping environment with the welcoming atmosphere of a seventy-acre working organic farm. It’s an ideal spot for locals looking to unplug, reconnect with nature, and gain a deeper appreciation for small-scale Vermont agriculture.
Since its inception in 2004, the campground has grown from a single cabin and a few tent sites into a cherished resource for visitors seeking simplicity and privacy. The farm itself has been in operation since 2001, embodying the spirit of a diversified organic farm that supports a small community. Guests here are not just campers; they are welcomed into the ecosystem of a family farm, providing a passive, and often active, educational adventure for all ages.
The farm is dedicated to utilizing its land well, growing a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, alongside operating a home bakery, catering service, and poultry production. All these elements combine to create a distinct setting for a vacation, a family gathering, or simply a quiet retreat away from the noise of modern life. It's a place where the simple pleasures—a clear night sky, the sound of a rooster, or the taste of mountain water—are the main attractions.
Location and Accessibility
Four Springs Farm & Campground is conveniently located at 776 Gee Hill Rd, South Royalton, VT 05068, USA. Its central Vermont location places it within easy reach for residents across the state. The farm sits on a scenic ridge in the foothills of the Green Mountains, offering spectacular western views that stretch out over the valley and toward the distant peaks.
Accessibility is straightforward yet offers a sense of seclusion. The site is situated on one long private road connected to the main thoroughfare. The owners' farmhouse serves as the central check-in point, welcoming guests upon arrival. For those traveling from major routes, the farm is only about four miles from Interstate 89 and roughly a half-hour's drive from central hubs like White River Junction, Woodstock, or Montpelier. This close proximity to I-89 makes it an accessible, low-stress destination for a quick weekend getaway without demanding an excessive amount of travel time.
It is important for local users to note the rustic nature of the property. There is no pavement on the farm, and all sites are "walk-in," meaning vehicles are parked and gear is carried a short distance to the secluded tentsites or cabins. This ensures the peace and privacy of the camping experience and preserves the natural environment. While the wash houses are designed to be family-friendly, the property's mowed paths and trails reflect its working farm status, emphasizing a genuine, low-impact connection to the land.

For Vermont residents, Four Springs Farm & Campground is more than just an overnight stay; it is an accessible, authentic cultural and natural experience. This is a place where you can genuinely "get away from the city life and feel relax in the nature," as one local user noted. It offers an 'authentic Vermont' experience by peeling back the layers of typical commercial tourism and inviting you into the heart of a working family farm.
It allows locals a chance to reset, offering a quiet, non-commercial environment that contrasts sharply with hectic daily life. The proximity to I-89 makes a spontaneous weekend trip feasible, while the rustic, unplugged nature of the accommodations—cabins without electricity, walk-in tentsites—ensures a deep, intentional break from screens and distractions. The entire site is located on one long private road that is connected to the main road. The owner's house is the check-in. There are several cottages and there is also the possibility to camp with your tent. Each cottage is very simple, but still tasteful. If you bring enough of your own light, you can also light it up very cozy in the evening. Lovely beds, and curtains for the windows. The windows with mosquito nets can be closed from the outside. Our cottage had a place to make a campfire and a grill for a BBQ possibility. Beautiful surroundings for the sunset and also stargazing There are two toilets and two showers. Both very nice, good water pressure. The water comes from the mountain and is delicious to drink. There are animals and many fruit trees. A recommendation is to join the animals, vegetables or fruit in the morning. Wonderful experience.
Aug 05, 2024 · A de NijsAUTHENTIC VERMONT Experience!!!! I was riding my motorcycle on a long distance trip along BDR and I camped every night. This is so far the BEST experience and LOWEST price. This campground and FARM gave me primitive camping while having access to clean bathrooms and power to charge my phone and battery. The ambiance is unique and welcoming. If you want to get away from the city life and feel relax in the nature, this is the one to stay.
Aug 25, 2024 · Jack VoVery quiet, clean space ! Amazingly well made toilets, super clean. Do try out the farm made jams and scones which the owner makes, they are super delicious.
Jul 05, 2025 · Karan TyagiAbsolutely gorgeous! The sunset views, night sky, and overall setting were phenomenal. We stayed in "Wildflower" at the farm, a perfect sized tent plot in the middle of a flowery field with a forest backdrop and a mountain view. Everywhere on site had wide mowed pathways, so long grass was not an issue! Close proximity to wonderfully clean bathrooms/showers and delicious drinking water to replenish jugs. Everything was exactly as described on airbnb - was very pleasantly surprised by the minimal amount of mosquitos (only 1 bite and we never needed to panic and quickly zip the tent lol). We stayed one night and wished we had booked at least 2 more...we will definitely be back soon!
Aug 10, 2025 · Tamara SkaleckiThis is what our ideal idea of glamping is! The cabin is simple but very comfortable, the matrasses are good and it is spatious the private fire pit and table are very nice. We enjoyed all the little path and to wander on the farm but the best is of course Jinnie, our great conversations, and her delicious cookies!
