For Mainers seeking an authentic, year-round escape into the beautiful Western Maine wilderness without sacrificing comfort,
Frost Mountain Yurts
offers a truly unique and cozy solution. Located in Brownfield, ME, this facility redefines 'glamping' by providing fully furnished, eco-friendly, and secluded yurts nestled within 57 acres of private, wooded land. It’s an ideal spot for families, couples, and small groups looking to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the natural splendor of the region. The experience here is intentionally off-grid—the yurts are not equipped with electricity or running water, fostering a genuine backcountry feel. However, they are far from primitive. As one excited customer noted about the Oaks Yurt, "The site is well appointed and perfectly laid out, and the yurt itself is immaculate. Not a thing was missing and it is well equipped with all the necessities and even extras, like games and candles." The warmth and coziness are maintained year-round, thanks to efficient wood-burning stoves, which allow visitors to be "super cozy with the wood stove," even when the foliage is down and the temperatures drop.
Frost Mountain Yurts
operates year-round, offering distinct seasonal adventures, from summer hiking and swimming to winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing right from your doorstep. The dedication to comfort and cleanliness, exemplified by the "pristinely kept and super clean" outhouses, ensures a relaxing and worry-free stay, giving guests the best of both rustic simplicity and essential comforts.

What an amazing weekend at the oaks yurt! The location is beautiful, the trails are well maintained, the site is well appointed and perfectly laid out, and the yurt itself is immaculate. Not a thing was missing and it is well equipped with all the necessities and even extras, like games and candles. The outhouse is pristinely kept and super clean. I cannot wait for the snow to finally fall to be back for a x-country ski trip and another stay at the yurts! Thanks Scott for having us!!
Nov 18, 2024 · Ivona BuckleyThis beautiful yurt made for such an awesome weekend! The yurt itself is incredible. We were super cozy with the wood stove. The beds were comfy and it was such a private feeling area even with the foliage down from the trees. Plenty of gorgeous trails nearby for exploring!
Nov 18, 2024 · Kelsey BilodeauMy family and I have been long time customers of Frost Mountain Yurts. I highly recommend them for your next adventure. Not only is the location great, the owner, Matt is absolutely fantastic. The hiking all around the yurts is perfect for kids and we find so much to do. If we were feeling cooped up and wanted to go out Brownfield is so close to great hiking, skiing, and paddling we could easily do that, but we have not wanted to leave the yurts. Matt, the owner is so fun and personable. He really cares about his customers and worked with us when we needed to reschedule repeatedly. I have stayed at other yurts in Maine before, but never more than once. Frost Mountain Yurts will always be my favorite spot. Logistically know that it is very easy to get to your yurt. The trails are very well marked and the sled or cart you use is big and it's really nothing to get there but then you feel completely secluded. Mountain View Yurt is the only one that has felt a little far, but the view is totally worth it. The outhouses are super clean and the yurt is very clean and cozy. There is an option to have Matt warm up your yurt for you upon arrival and I totally recommend that in the winter.
Feb 02, 2023 · Sarah SiroisHad a great time at the Mtn. View yurt. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return to take advantage of the Fryeburg Fair next year. Recommend to anyone who is tired of the regular camping tent style. Very relaxing, fall is the best time to go!
Oct 20, 2024 · M.A.TSuch a great experience! Spent my birthday weekend here and it was one of the best ones yet. The yurts are beautifully constructed and well equipped. It’s super easy to use the propane and wood stove. Plates, cups, coffee maker and utensils are all available to use as well. There’s also a nice sized table for everyone to eat and play games. Outside there is a beautiful fireplace with a big bench for all to fit on. The propane grill was clean and grilling tools were also provided. The pup had fun too! Lots of space to play. There’s also a creek running through the property, such a peaceful atmosphere. You can tell the owners put a lot of love into this place. We all had a super fun and relaxing trip. Hope to come back again soon!
