Green Valley Campground About
For Michiganders, the appeal of spending time outdoors, surrounded by nature, is deeply ingrained. From the expansive Great Lakes shoreline to the quiet beauty of inland forests and lakes, Michigan offers an abundance of opportunities for camping and outdoor recreation. But for those seeking more than just a fleeting weekend escape – a place that feels like a second home, a community where memories are made all summer long – a specific kind of campground emerges as the ideal choice. Green Valley Campground in Sturgis, Michigan, proudly embodies this spirit, offering a welcoming haven that many local campers have lovingly called their "forever campground."
Campgrounds in Michigan come in all shapes and sizes, catering to diverse preferences. Green Valley Campground distinguishes itself as a place that combines a "smaller rustic campground" feel with significant recent upgrades, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. It's the kind of spot where you can truly unwind, disconnect from the daily grind, and reconnect with nature and loved ones. Unlike some sprawling, commercialized parks, Green Valley seems to prioritize a more intimate and friendly community vibe, as echoed by its loyal customers.
The concept of a "forever campground" resonates strongly with Michigan locals who own RVs or prefer seasonal camping. It means having a consistent spot to return to, year after year, where you become part of an extended family of fellow campers. This eliminates the hassle of constantly searching for available sites, packing up every weekend, and setting up anew. Instead, you can personalize your site, build lasting friendships with your neighbors, and fully immerse yourself in the leisure and camaraderie that Green Valley Campground strives to offer. This commitment to fostering a close-knit community, coupled with essential amenities and recent renovations, positions Green Valley as an attractive destination for Michigan residents seeking a long-term outdoor retreat.
Testimonials from actual visitors highlight key aspects that make Green Valley special: it's "locally owned," boasts a "newly renovated pool, pool house, new clubhouse," and offers a "smaller rustic campground relaxing" experience. This blend of classic charm and modern comfort, all within a friendly, family-like atmosphere, truly makes Green Valley Campground a gem in the Michigan camping scene.
Green Valley Campground is situated at 25499 W Fawn River Rd, Sturgis, MI 49091, USA. Sturgis is a city located in St. Joseph County, in the southern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Its geographic coordinates are approximately 41.7981° N latitude and 85.4192° W longitude.
The location of Green Valley Campground offers a strategic advantage for both Michigan residents and those traveling through the state. Sturgis is positioned near major transportation arteries. It's conveniently accessible via US-12, a historic East-West highway that runs across southern Michigan, and is also relatively close to the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90), which lies just south of the Michigan border. This excellent accessibility means that campers from various parts of Michigan, as well as those from neighboring states like Indiana and Ohio, can easily reach the campground.
Sturgis itself is a city with a population of around 10,000 residents, offering a range of local amenities without the overwhelming traffic of larger metropolitan areas. Visitors can find grocery stores, dining options, and other essential services within a short drive from the campground. The area surrounding Sturgis is characterized by a mix of agricultural land and smaller lakes, providing a peaceful backdrop for outdoor activities. The "smaller rustic campground" feel of Green Valley suggests it's tucked away enough to offer tranquility, while its proximity to Sturgis ensures convenience for supplies and any off-campground excursions. Local directions suggest it's about 1.25 miles south of US-12 and then 1.5 miles west on Fawn River Rd from MI-66, then 0.5 miles south on the entry road, confirming its somewhat secluded yet accessible nature.

- Golf Cart Rentals: For ease of getting around the campground, golf cart rentals are available. Guests should inquire about the specific rental policies and rates. (Note: Personal golf carts for non-handicapped/physically challenged campers may be restricted, per some rules, so rental is a good option).

Green Valley Campground boasts several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal and explain why it's considered a "wonderful place" by its patrons:
- Newly Renovated Pool and Pool House: A significant highlight, providing a refreshing and modern swimming area for all ages. This is a major draw, especially during Michigan's warm summer months, with designated adult swim hours also available.
- New Clubhouse: The addition of a new clubhouse suggests a dedicated space for community gatherings, indoor activities, or simply a place for campers to relax and socialize.
- Locally Owned and Operated: Being locally owned often translates to a more personal touch, a greater understanding of the local community's needs, and a stronger commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Relaxing and Rustic Atmosphere: Despite the modern renovations, the campground maintains a "smaller rustic" and "relaxing" vibe, appealing to those who appreciate a more natural and less commercialized camping experience.
- Friendly and Family-Like Community: Reviews frequently mention the "amazing family" atmosphere and "friendly people," indicating a strong sense of camaraderie and welcoming environment for seasonal campers. This fosters lasting friendships.
- On-Site Recreation: Beyond swimming, the campground offers mini-golf and a playground, providing entertainment options for families and children directly on site. Fishing is also available.
- Pet-Friendly: Green Valley Campground welcomes pets, provided they are well-mannered and leashed, and owners clean up after them. This is a huge plus for many Michigan families traveling with their furry companions.
- Open Season: Operating from May 1 to October 15 (and seasonal sites from April 15 to October 15), it covers the prime Michigan camping season, allowing for extensive enjoyment.
While specific, publicly advertised "promotions" in the traditional sense might not be prominently featured for Green Valley Campground, their pricing structure already offers significant value, particularly for extended stays. The rates published online demonstrate a clear incentive for longer visits:
- Discounted Weekly and Monthly Rates: Daily rates are higher than the effective daily rate when booking for a week or a month, providing a built-in discount for longer stays. For example, a 30-amp water & electric site is $25/day, but only $20/day when booked weekly, and $18/day when booked monthly.
- Seasonal Rates: The $1200.00 seasonal rate (plus electric) for April 15 to October 15 is a substantial saving for campers who plan to use their site frequently throughout the season. This is the ultimate "promotion" for those seeking a true summer home.
- Holiday Weekend Pricing: Specific pricing for holiday weekends ($95 for 3 nights, or $35/night) ensures transparency for peak demand periods.
- Day Visitor and Swimmer Passes: The availability of low-cost day passes for visitors ($3.00/person) and swimmers ($4.00/person) allows campers to share the fun with friends and family not staying overnight, enhancing the community experience.

Wonderful place i am so glad we found our forever campground and part of this amazing family. 💖💖
My husband grow up going here and now we camp here. Jamie and Bart are amazing! The other campers are very nice. The camp ground is clean and well kept. It’s a super dog friendly community and my dogs love to go just as much as we do.
I really enjoye# myself. With "AWESOME" friends and I relaxed very comfortably. I will Go back again. Thanks to our amazing friends Harvey & Karen, and the owners. Green Valley Campground is Awesome
The power connection were either charred or on reverse polarity. Power kept going off and I couldn't run water heater, air, etc. There were picnic tables piled up in several places and the ones we had were broken. For four units to park together it was difficult to find a spot to fit us together, not because of room, but because of the power issues and junk piled up. Now the people who ran it were very pleasant and brought us wood, but all in all a very uncomfortable weekend. Sorry
