For Mainers seeking a premier RV destination that perfectly balances pristine natural beauty with unrivaled convenience, Henry Cove RV Park in Winter Harbor is a true Downeast gem. Unlike the often-crowded campsites on Mount Desert Island, this small, immaculate, and owner-operated park offers a serene and picturesque home base for exploring the quieter, equally stunning Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. With its small size—just ten spacious sites—Henry Cove RV Park ensures a peaceful, personal, and meticulously maintained environment for its guests.
The experience here is defined by stunning views and exceptional customer care. Guests are often greeted personally by the owner, a local who pours his "heart and soul" into the park, providing friendly service and valuable local knowledge about the area. The campground is consistently described as being in "pristine" and "immaculate" condition, from the level, well-landscaped gravel sites to the exceptionally clean facilities. Each site is designed to offer a pleasant stay, with a view overlooking a natural hill, native greenery, beautiful flowers, and often a glimpse of the tranquil Henry Cove. This attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness and hospitality make Henry Cove RV Park a highly-regarded and frequently revisited spot by those who appreciate a quiet, high-quality camping experience.
Location and Accessibility
Henry Cove RV Park enjoys a stellar location at the heart of the Schoodic Peninsula experience. The park is officially located at 81 Sargent St, Winter Harbor, ME 04693, USA. This placement is a major advantage for local RV enthusiasts who prioritize easy access to both nature and essential services.
The park is situated directly across the street from the terminal for the passenger ferry that runs to Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. We made our campground reservations to this location several months in advance. When we got to the campground, we were able to pick a site which overlooked the hill with greenery, natural flowers, and a glimpse of the cove. Site was level with plenty of space between campers. Looks like it was just landscaped! The campground was in pristine condition. The facilities to utilize for shower/washer/dryer were very clean and in immaculate condition . Coin operated The owner met us upon arrival and was very friendly and gave a lot of information about the area since he grew up here. You can tell that his heart and soul is poured into the campground! When we come back to the area, we will most definitely be staying at this location. Tim, Thank you for letting us share your land.
Sep 09, 2025 · Mary Jane LouderMy wife & I loved our stay here, Tim is a gracious & very friendly host who keeps a very nice & clean park. Beautiful views all around, walking distance into town to get anything you need. Close to the Acadia winter harbor loop for walking or biking. Directly across from the bar harbor ferry terminal, very convenient! WiFi works great along with water & power hookups. We stayed 2 extra days we loved it so much. Bathroom was cleaned daily & showers are inexpensive, just 5 bucks for 6 minutes! Laundry onsite too. We’ll definitely return again!
Aug 11, 2025 · James CahillWonderful showers! While camping around the corner at Schoodic Woods campground, we came here a couple of times for the nice hot showers. $5 gets you 6 minutes of perfectly hot water in a nice clean shower. Note - they don’t take quarters. You’ll need to bring cash to convert into dollar coins via their machine. There are two shower stalls so I have a feeling it might get popular as more campers find this spot. There is also laundry available.
Aug 25, 2025 · Mandy TetzlaffCame over from Schoodic camp grounds to use the showers. Very clean, had hot water, good ventilation. $5 for a 6 min shower was more than worth it. Two showers that are both wheelchair accessible , two restrooms, and even laundry facilities on site. Will come again.
Aug 15, 2025 · Brianna LeeWe came over from Schoodic Woods campground in nearby Acadia NP where there are no showers or laundry. Just did our laundry. All worked out great. Much nicer to sit outside and relax with a breeze off the ocean than sit in a strip mall laundry in Ellsworth. It is more expensive than Ellsworth, but like most of Maine it’s expensive to build and there’s a short season to make back your investment. We’re happy to support this and other local businesses that make our trips here so enjoyable. One of the reasons we like Winter Harbor is that it’s not near any big resorts or developments. Signs show where to park on the grass if you’re just using the showers or laundry.
