For Mainers who cherish the authentic, less-traveled coastline, Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins in Sullivan, ME, presents a quintessential Downeast escape. Situated on the spectacular shores of Flanders Bay, this campground is a locally renowned retreat that offers more than just a place to pitch a tent—it provides a true connection to Maine's rugged, beautiful seaside. It is a family-owned and operated location that has earned a reputation among locals for its friendly atmosphere, impeccably maintained grounds, and the kind of personal, helpful service that truly enhances a vacation.
Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins is perfectly positioned to serve as your quiet home base for exploring the diverse regions of Acadia National Park. Unlike the often-crowded sites near Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island (MDI), this campground places you closer to the serene Schoodic Peninsula section of the park—often referred to as 'Acadia's quiet side'—while still maintaining easy access to MDI via a convenient ferry and shuttle system. Guests here enjoy the luxury of waking up to breathtaking water views, the soothing sound of the tide, and the stunning sunsets over the bay, making it a truly restorative experience.
Whether you prefer the simplicity of a tent site, the convenience of a full-hookup RV spot, or the cozy comfort of a rustic cabin, this location caters to various styles of camping. It’s an ideal spot for Maine families and couples looking to experience the region's natural beauty without the constant hustle and bustle, providing a clean, quiet, and exceptionally welcoming environment.
Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins is conveniently located right off a major coastal route at Campground Road, 2695 U.S. Rte 1, Sullivan, ME 04664, USA. This placement on U.S. Route 1 ensures easy driving access for local travelers coming from other parts of Maine.
The campground’s greatest locational advantage is its proximity to both sides of Acadia National Park. It is situated roughly 15 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula entrance, which is highly favored by locals for its less-crowded trails, stunning coastal drive, and quiet pace. Access to the main Mount Desert Island section of Acadia (including Bar Harbor) is straightforward: a drive of approximately 30-40 minutes, or you can utilize the free Island Explorer Shuttle, which runs directly from the campground to Winter Harbor, where a ferry can take you over to MDI. This allows for convenient exploration of Bar Harbor without the stress of parking during peak season.
Crucially, the physical location of the campground sits directly on the shore of Flanders Bay, offering magnificent waterfront views. Additionally, outdoor recreational activities abound immediately surrounding the area. Local hiking trails, pristine freshwater lakes and ponds for swimming and fishing, and access to the Downeast Sunrise Trail—a scenic, multi-use trail—are all within a very short drive, making it a central hub for Maine outdoor enthusiasts.
The focus at Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins is on providing clean, well-maintained facilities and essential services to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins stands out for its unique location and commitment to a peaceful Maine coastal experience.

We just spent 4 days at site 11. Amazing views. Really nice relaxing at night listening to the water by the campfire and watching the sunset. Everyone was very nice and helpful. They gave us some ideas for things to do and where to eat. Quiet place. Clean bathrooms. We would come back again.
Sep 16, 2025 · Lorraine SWe have been coming to Acadia Seashore for several years now. It is definitely one of our favorite places to stay. We love the “quiet” side of Acadia and all it has to offer to visitors. Staying at Acadia Seashore makes it that much more special. The grounds and campsites are nicely tended to and the facilities are clean and well cared for by Michael and Gloria, Jeff and Kim. I must add that their welcoming, helpful and friendly relationship with the campers is definitely part of my 5 star rating. Thank you for another wonderful stay (it’s never long enough!). See you next year!!
Aug 23, 2025 · Anne MarshWe stayed in their one cabin, and it was just so nice a place to stay. Gloria recommended places to go and eat, Mike was extremely helpful and the sunset views across Mount Desert Narrows and over Acadia National Park were sensational (two of my favorite photos below). We can't recommend it enough and hope to go back soon
Sep 25, 2025 · Luiz daSilvaThis is between 3-4 stars Very friendly helpful staff. Clean bathrooms in part due to a lot of notes posted that most folks seem to follow. Not a lot of shade here which can make it very hot. Noisy in am from trucks on road. And a non-stop beeping I was never able to determine the source of. Not having a pool I both understand but wish they'd had. Eagles everyday made it amazing. The view is stunning and its quiet at night. Great place to relax and read a book!
Aug 12, 2025 · Susanne RossiniWe enjoyed our camping experience at this lovely, small campground with beautiful views of the National Park mountains just across the bay. Gloria & Michael were gracious hosts and they & their staff were attentive & very helpful. The grounds & campsites were impeccably cared for, as were the bathrooms & camp office/store. They were so patient and kind during the moment we realized we had made a mistake of thinking we had another night’s stay in our reservations; calm & accommodating, they worked with us to extend our stay and quickly found us another site in the park. We appreciated their hospitality & will definitely recommend this to other campers heading to the Acadia area. ~Ed & Linda, upstate NY
