Location and Accessibility

Hermans Landing is situated on Herman Rd, De Valls Bluff, AR 72041, USA. This address places it in Prairie County, a region of Arkansas renowned for its flat landscapes, agricultural prominence, and abundant waterways, making it a prime area for fishing and outdoor recreation. De Valls Bluff itself is a small, historic town located along the White River, approximately 50 miles east of Little Rock.

Accessibility to Hermans Landing is straightforward for those traveling by personal vehicle. Herman Rd likely connects directly or indirectly to the main roads passing through De Valls Bluff, such as US-70 or State Highway 33. The location's primary advantage is its direct access to fishing waters, indicating a boat ramp is present, essential for anglers. While specific details about the water body aren't provided in the reviews, it's implicitly part of the larger network of rivers and lakes in the Grand Prairie region, known for its diverse fish populations.

Being in De Valls Bluff means visitors are in an area steeped in history, including Civil War sites. While the landing itself is focused on outdoor activity, the town offers basic amenities like local eateries (De Valls Bluff is known for its barbecue and pies) and gas stations for convenience. The rural setting contributes to the quiet atmosphere mentioned by visitors, allowing for a peaceful experience, though potential natural factors like low water levels and hidden stumps (as noted in reviews) require awareness and careful navigation. Overall, the location provides a quintessential Arkansas outdoor experience, easily reachable for locals seeking a fishing retreat.

Services Offered

Hermans Landing, based on customer reviews, provides essential services primarily geared towards supporting fishing activities and basic camping. Here's a breakdown of what visitors can expect:

  • Boat Ramp Access: A key service, as indicated by the reviews discussing water levels and fishing. The boat ramp allows for the launching and retrieval of fishing boats, providing direct access to the water.
  • Fishing Access: The primary draw of Hermans Landing is the ability to fish. Visitors come here specifically for crappie (though sometimes elusive) and, more consistently, for catfish.
  • Overnight Stay/Camping (Implied): While not explicitly detailed as a full-service campground, the term "campground" in the name and context of user reviews (implying multiple visits) suggests that overnight stays, likely primitive or basic RV/tent camping, are possible. It is essential to contact them directly for specific camping amenities (e.g., hookups, restrooms).
  • Friendly Atmosphere: Reviewers consistently mention "Nice people," indicating that the staff or management contribute to a welcoming and pleasant experience.

It's important to note the specific fee mentioned: "$7.50 a person." This suggests a per-person access fee, possibly for daily use of the landing and fishing, or for basic camping access. Visitors should confirm the exact nature of this fee upon arrival or by contacting the facility. The reviews do not mention amenities such as restrooms, showers, or full RV hookups, implying that it might be a more rustic experience focused purely on outdoor access.

Features and Highlights

Hermans Landing, while modest in its offerings, boasts several key features and highlights that make it a cherished spot for local anglers and outdoor enthusiasts:

  • Excellent Catfish Fishing: A significant highlight is the reliable catfish population. As one reviewer noted, "we caught plenty of catfish," making it a go-to spot for those targeting this popular species.
  • Potential for Crappie Fishing: While sometimes challenging ("didn't catch any crappie"), the mention of crappie suggests it's a known species in the area, offering the thrill of the chase for dedicated crappie anglers. The desire to "return before it shuts down for the birds and catch some tho" indicates a seasonal aspect to crappie fishing.
  • Boat Ramp Access: The presence of a boat ramp is crucial for accessing the fishing waters, making it convenient for those with their own boats. This allows anglers to explore more of the area and find the best fishing spots.
  • "Nice People" and Friendly Atmosphere: Reviewers consistently praise the "Nice people," indicating a welcoming and positive interaction with staff or other visitors, contributing to an enjoyable experience.
  • Quiet and Peaceful Setting: While not explicitly stated, the nature of a fishing landing in a rural area typically offers a quiet environment, ideal for escaping the noise of daily life and focusing on the outdoor experience.
  • Local Gem Status: The tone of the reviews suggests that Hermans Landing is a beloved local spot, frequented by those in the know for its consistent fishing opportunities, particularly for catfish.

It's also crucial to address the challenges mentioned: "Water is low rite now so the stumps are a little dangerous" and "The ramp needs attention." This transparency indicates that current conditions, especially water levels and ramp maintenance, can impact the experience, and visitors should be prepared for potential navigational hazards or a rustic ramp. The "active railroad track very near it" and loud "mufflers" (from nearby roads mentioned in a related search for a different campground in Magnolia) could also potentially contribute to noise at times. However, for those who understand these trade-offs, the primary benefit of excellent fishing remains the core highlight.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a more rustic, locally-focused fishing landing and campground, Hermans Landing does not typically offer "promotions or special offers" in the conventional commercial sense. Its value proposition is centered on direct access to fishing and a straightforward, affordable entry fee.

The primary "offer" is the opportunity to enjoy the natural fishing environment for a fee of "$7.50 a person," as mentioned in a review. It is advisable for prospective visitors to confirm this current fee structure by contacting Hermans Landing directly, as rates for access or any potential basic camping might change.

While not a "special offer," the consistent availability of catfish, as noted by visitors, serves as an inherent draw for anglers. For any inquiries regarding group rates, extended stay possibilities (if applicable for camping), or specific seasonal information related to fishing, direct communication with the management is the best approach.

Water is low rite now so the stumps are a little dangerous. The ramp needs attention and low water would be a great time to repair it. My two buddies and I didn't catch any crappie but we caught plenty of catfish. Hope to return before it shuts down for the birds and catch some tho.

You can only launch your boat here no fishing from the side. Very friendly people hard to find in the woods. This a private spot just for people living out there. Should not be in the map for public use.

Great place to launch your boat on a great Crappie lake. I was in such a hurry to get to the lake today that I forgot drinking water and gas for my boat. They didn't have any gas to sell me but loaned me a gas can and watched my boat while I was gone. When I got back they handed me 5 bottles of water to take with me. Very friendly folks.
