Better than Chisel Branch or Swain's lock for backpackers. The main reason I say this is because there aren't any buildings across from it at night and it's usually unoccupied since you have to hike in.
Feb 03, 2025 · Christian Ishamnice spot for bike camping. neat animal sounds and i think fish jumping in the river. has a maintained portapotty heads up: they no longer iodine treat the water pumps
Jun 04, 2024 · Justin BGreat spot. Right off the trail. Very close to the 26 mile marker. Porta pottie was right there and easy. Water easy to get to in the river. Plenty of scrap wood for fire. Picnic table good. Only one picnic table and one fire pit though.
Jan 24, 2021 · Doug CressBeautiful campsite on Potomac and C&O Canal Tow Path. Shady but plenty of cleared space. Fire circle, water pump, grill, recently serviced out house, amazing view of river. Very quiet and tranquil. Right on tow path.
May 27, 2018 · Heather WellingtonThank God we're back on track with regular porta potty maintenance. Last year was baaaad. Pump water is only slightly rusty tasting. Lots of plane traffic going into Dulles. Can slightly hear music from the water park across the river. Saw a bald eagle nesting in the area and flying by often. Otherwise isolated from nearby stuff and pretty quite.
