Interstate RV Overnight Park About

For travelers traversing the scenic routes of Virginia, particularly those in the New River Valley, finding a convenient and accommodating spot for an RV overnight stay is often a priority. Whether you’re on a long journey and need a place to rest your wheels, or you’re exploring the beautiful Christiansburg area and require a temporary base, an RV park can be an essential resource. Today, we're focusing on Interstate RV Overnight Park, located right here in Christiansburg, VA. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and informative overview of this RV park, drawing upon publicly available information and customer experiences to help local users in Virginia understand what to expect.

An RV park, or recreational vehicle park, is a dedicated facility designed to accommodate motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, and other recreational vehicles. These parks typically offer various hookups, such as electricity, water, and sometimes sewer connections, allowing RVers to utilize their vehicle's amenities comfortably. Some RV parks also provide additional facilities like laundry rooms, showers, and common areas. Interstate RV Overnight Park positions itself as a place for those needing a stopover. Understanding the nature of an "overnight park" suggests a focus on convenience for short-term stays, rather than extensive amenities for long-term residency. As we delve deeper, we will explore the specific aspects of Interstate RV Overnight Park to help you decide if it aligns with your travel needs in Virginia.

Location and Accessibility

Interstate RV Overnight Park is strategically located at 2705 Roanoke St, Christiansburg, VA 24073, USA. This address places it along a major thoroughfare in Christiansburg, offering immediate and straightforward access for RV travelers. Roanoke Street (often also designated as US-460 or US-11 in parts) is a significant route that connects Christiansburg to surrounding areas and beyond, making the park particularly convenient for those traveling on interstate journeys or exploring the broader New River Valley region.

Christiansburg itself is a growing town in Montgomery County, part of the larger Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area. It serves as a commercial and cultural hub for the region, providing a variety of services, dining options, and shopping opportunities. The park's location on Roanoke Street means that essential amenities like gas stations, grocery stores, and quick dining establishments are likely within a very short driving distance. For RVers, this accessibility is paramount, as it minimizes the hassle of navigating through unfamiliar towns and allows for easy replenishment of supplies. The proximity to major roads is a key advantage for an "overnight park," catering to travelers who prioritize ease of entry and exit during their journey through Virginia. While the specific surroundings of the park should be noted, its general location on a main road simplifies the logistics of an RV stopover.

Services Offered

Based on available public information, including customer reviews, the services offered at Interstate RV Overnight Park appear to be focused on basic provisions for RVers, primarily for short-term or overnight stays. It's important for prospective visitors to understand these offerings to manage their expectations.

  • RV Parking Spots: The primary service is providing designated spaces for RVs to park, likely with hookups for essential utilities. While specific details on the types of hookups (e.g., 30-amp, 50-amp electricity, water, sewer) are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, these are standard for RV parks.

  • Laundry Facilities: The park reportedly has a laundry area with washing machines and dryers. However, customer feedback indicates concerns about cleanliness and maintenance in this area. Visitors should be aware that the condition of these facilities may not meet typical standards.

  • Shower Facilities: Alongside the laundry area, there are mentioned shower facilities. Similar to the laundry, reviews suggest that these facilities are in a state of disrepair and cleanliness is a significant issue.

  • Overnight Stays: The name "Overnight Park" clearly indicates its primary function for short-term or single-night accommodations. Initial inquiries for overnight stays reportedly requested cash-only payments, which is an important point for travelers to note.

  • Longer Stays (with noted concerns): While primarily for overnight use, some reviews indicate residents staying longer term, with mentions of rent increases. However, the overall sentiment regarding maintenance and management for longer stays is highly negative.

  • Limited Management Presence: Customer reviews suggest that the manager is "rarely around," which could impact the accessibility of assistance or resolution of issues during a stay.

It is crucial for anyone considering a stay at Interstate RV Overnight Park to directly contact the management for the most current and accurate information on available services, pricing, and payment methods, especially given the varying accounts from past visitors.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided customer reviews, it's challenging to list "features" or "highlights" in a traditionally positive promotional sense. Instead, we must present the park's characteristics as observed by visitors, focusing on what they encountered. It is imperative to be factual and transparent given the nature of the feedback.

  • Convenient Location for Transit: Perhaps the most significant "feature" from a purely logistical standpoint is its location on Roanoke Street in Christiansburg. For RVers needing a quick stopover directly along a major route, the park’s accessibility is undeniable. It allows for easy pulling in and out for those passing through the New River Valley.

  • Basic Utility Hookups (Implied): As an RV park, it would implicitly offer basic utility hookups for RVs (power, water, and potentially sewer), which are fundamental for any overnight stay. However, the condition or reliability of these hookups is not specifically detailed in the negative reviews.

  • Laundry Facilities On-Site: The presence of a laundry area with washers and dryers is a feature that could be useful for travelers needing to do laundry. However, the condition of these facilities is reportedly very poor, described as "filthy and full of flies," suggesting they may not be usable or pleasant.

  • Shower Facilities On-Site: Similarly, the park has shower facilities, which are often a desirable amenity for RVers. Unfortunately, customer feedback indicates these are "disgusting" and "looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years," rendering them a significant detractor rather than a highlight.

  • Cash-Only for Overnight Stays (Reported): A notable characteristic, as reported by a former customer, is the park's alleged preference for "CASH ONLY" for overnight stays. This payment method is a crucial piece of information for prospective visitors to be aware of and plan for.

  • Management Presence: While management is reportedly "lazy and rarely around," the existence of a designated "office at White House" suggests a point of contact for guests, though its accessibility and condition are also negatively reviewed (e.g., "overwhelmingly rancid" smell). This is a feature of how the park is run, albeit a problematic one.

It is clear from customer experiences that while some basic amenities are present, their condition and the overall environment are significant concerns that prospective visitors should carefully consider. The primary "highlight" appears to be its strategic location for travelers, if one is willing to overlook the described conditions.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the available public information and customer reviews, there are no promotions or special offers publicly advertised or even hinted at for Interstate RV Overnight Park. The nature of the feedback suggests that the park's focus is not on attracting new business through incentives, but rather on providing a very basic, no-frills stopover.

Furthermore, one critical piece of information from a customer review indicated that the manager requested "CASH ONLY for overnight stays." This suggests a less formalized business operation that is unlikely to offer structured promotions.

Prospective visitors should not anticipate finding any special deals, discounts, or loyalty programs associated with Interstate RV Overnight Park. Instead, it is highly recommended to:

  • Call the park directly for current rates: Be prepared to discuss payment methods and exact pricing for an overnight stay, keeping in mind the reported cash-only preference.

  • Inquire about any requirements: Ask about check-in procedures, available spots, and any specific rules for overnight guests.

Any "offer" would likely be limited to simply the availability of a parking spot and basic hookups at a given rate, which should be confirmed verbally before arrival.

Contact Information

For those needing to inquire about Interstate RV Overnight Park for a potential stay, the following contact details are available:

  • Address: 2705 Roanoke St, Christiansburg, VA 24073, USA

  • Phone: (540) 616-4114

Given the nature of the reviews regarding management presence and communication, it is advisable to be persistent if you encounter difficulty reaching someone. Direct phone contact is the only way to confirm availability, current rates, and any specific policies for overnight stays at this location. It is particularly important to confirm payment methods, especially the reported "cash only" policy for overnight guests, before making travel plans.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For RVers in or passing through the Virginia region, particularly the New River Valley, assessing the suitability of Interstate RV Overnight Park requires a very specific set of priorities. Based on the public information and consistent customer feedback, this park's appeal to locals (or those temporarily local) is extremely niche and conditional.

The primary, and perhaps only, reason this place might be considered "suitable" is its strategic location along Roanoke Street in Christiansburg. For an RVer who finds themselves in the immediate vicinity, in urgent need of an absolute last-resort overnight stop, and with no other options available, its physical presence on a major road offers unparalleled convenience for a quick pull-off. If all other established and reputable RV parks or campgrounds in the broader area are fully booked, too far out of the way, or too expensive for an unplanned emergency stop, Interstate RV Overnight Park might technically fulfill the very basic need for a place to park an RV for a few hours of rest.

However, it is crucial to temper any suitability with the significant and pervasive negative feedback from multiple customers. Descriptions of "filthy laundry area," "disgusting" showers, "overwhelmingly rancid" smells from the office, "trash and cats everywhere," and "lazy and rarely around" management paint a picture of a facility that falls far short of even basic expectations for an RV park. The reported "cash only" requirement for overnight stays also adds a layer of inconvenience and potential concern for travelers.

Therefore, while its physical location makes it accessible for a desperate, unplanned overnight stop in Christiansburg, this suitability is heavily outweighed by the described conditions. For the vast majority of Virginia locals and visitors seeking a comfortable, clean, safe, and well-managed RV experience – even for just one night – Interstate RV Overnight Park would likely not be considered suitable. Its potential utility is strictly limited to emergency, no-other-option scenarios, where the absolute minimum of simply parking an RV is the only requirement, and all other expectations are abandoned. Travelers are strongly advised to explore all other available RV accommodation options in the Christiansburg and New River Valley area before considering Interstate RV Overnight Park, unless under extreme circumstances.

Edited to add: As I sometimes revisit my reviews I noticed that 2 of the positive reviews are left by management. Alex Hicks is the park, if you can call it that, manager that we spoke with on the phone initially. If I could give less than 1 star I would. We pulled in and drove to a building we assumed was the office. It was not, instead it was a filthy laundry area with two dirty washer & dryers. Upon further examination there were shower facilities attached on the side of the building. They looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, absolutely disgusting! Heading back to our coach, we noticed a sign on the laundry/shower building that said office at White House, so off we walked to what I can only describe as something the city should condemn. The SMELL permeating from the house when you stepped onto the porch to knock was overwhelmingly rancid, like someone died. Thankfully no one answered the phone or the knocking and we ended up in a much nicer place. Edited to add: The person I spoke with on the phone initially prior to arrival to get rates said he wanted CASH ONLY for overnight stays. I wonder if the park owners are aware of this.

This place is a sad excuse for an RV park. Trash and cats everywhere, if you want your area grass cut you better do it yourself. The stray cats climb on and urinate on everything and live under the RV’s. The manager is lazy and rarely around. There is a laundry area but it’s filthy and full of flies. They have raised our rent twice in 2 months and I have seen no maintenance increases. Ridiculous. If I could give it negative stars I definitely would.

Manager will just scam you. Place isn't even worth $20 a night. Better off staying the night at Walmart parking lot. Was told a certain price over phone and demanded something different once I set up. If the owner knew how the place was being managed they would fire them. Sure it's a family situation. It's worth the hour drive to find a different rv spot.

It is a great place to park overnight or maybe for a week. It's okay for long-term if you're just looking for the bare necessities. It is moderately child friendly and adequately safe. The pathetic excuse for a local manager leaves a lot to be desired and quite frankly I cannot understand how this person still has a job. And that's the most polite thing I can say about lack of desire to do anything.

This campground SEVERELY overcharges and they charge a deposit just so they can come up with an excuse to keep it. On top of that the manager takes bribes to get a better spot on the waiting list and smells awful
