Karst Loop Campsite 3 is strategically situated at 8492-8462 Tanglewood Road, Rogers, AR 72756, USA. While the address provides a geographical marker, it's crucial for prospective campers to understand that this is not a drive-up site. Accessibility is primarily by foot, requiring a dedicated hike of approximately three miles from an access point, such as the Hobbs Reservation Center, which serves as a common starting point for explorations in this area. This ensures a level of seclusion and quiet that is increasingly rare in developed campgrounds. The journey to the campsite is an integral part of the experience, allowing hikers to fully immerse themselves in the surrounding forest and prepare for the tranquility that awaits.
The trail leading to the campsite can experience varying levels of traffic, particularly on pleasant weekend afternoons, with both hikers and bikers utilizing the paths. However, the reward for this effort is a stunning lakeside location that truly feels like a wilderness escape. The terrain leading to and at the campsite itself is notably rocky, a characteristic of the Karst topography found in this region of Arkansas. This geological feature contributes to both the beauty and the unique challenges of the site, requiring campers to be prepared for uneven ground and specific tent-pitching considerations. Its integration into a larger network of trails also means that explorers can extend their adventures beyond the campsite, discovering more of the area's diverse ecosystems and scenic overlooks. The natural setting, though requiring effort to reach, contributes significantly to the campsite's appeal, promising views and experiences that are well worth the trek.
While Karst Loop Campsite 3 is a primitive site, it does offer a few essential services designed to facilitate a comfortable, albeit rugged, outdoor experience.
The cleanliness of the campsite has been positively noted by past visitors, emphasizing the shared responsibility of all users to "clean up, and preserve the area" – a testament to the Leave No Trace principles that are paramount in such natural settings.

Furthermore, as a primitive campsite, it encourages self-reliance and environmental stewardship, aligning with the values often held by outdoor-loving Arkansans. It's a place to practice Leave No Trace principles, fostering a sense of responsibility for preserving the very beauty that draws them there. This makes it an ideal spot for individuals or families looking to teach or practice essential outdoor skills. I hiked into this campsite going against bike traffic. It was a bit busy going in on a nice Sunday afternoon, but a morning hike out on Monday was easy. It was about a 3 mile hike. This campsite had a lovely view of the lake and easy access to water. Note there is no way to stake down your tent on the tent pad, it’s very rocky. I tied off to some heavier rocks. The structures are nice for sitting until you have a campfire and the smoke gets caught in that space. Sites 1-6 are all in an arch along a path here. Sites 1 and 2 are to the east of 3, with 4-6 to the west. There currently is a port a potty with a significant hike up hill to get to.
May 04, 2021 · Missy GaulVery clean, nice on late autumn. We hike last autumn. We started at the Hobbs reservation center. Looking forward to do it again early spring if the campsite are available. Lots of interesting plants, mushrooms to see We got 2 different apps that tell us what type of plan we were taking pictures of. Also, we have a blass looking at the stars and finding the name of the constellations at night in another app. Enjoy to be in a primitive campsite. Please clean up, and preserve the area.
