Good news bad news! Site are large and clean. Staff is great! And extremely friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for getting to the Lake Placid. Village and activities. No shade at rv sites at the Riverside location. WIFI is strong and available, but absolutely no tv service either air or cable which is a bit strange. Lastly price is expensive compared to other Holiday KOA's.
Jul 31, 2025 · Vito GeranteFor anyone who has stayed at this KOA in the past - the KOA has moved and is very different from the previous location. For new visitors, be aware that many of the photos on google are still from the previous location on Fox Farm Rd, not the new location, so be sure to look at the dates. The good: Friendly staff, clean cabins. The bad: The new location is a downgrade from the original. The charm (and honestly, the woodsy privacy) is virtually gone. The prices for the cabins are high for where you are and what you get. The amenities and layout of old site were a huge part of the draw to this particular KOA. Now that it has relocated it is just not the same experience that made it worth traveling for and paying a premium. I am hoping that the new site improves with age, and may give it another chance further in the future. For now, especially considering the pricing, I will hold off from rebooking for a few years and give other campgrounds a look.
Aug 24, 2025 · amanda cAs an avid camper at state parks (which are considerably less expensive), I, perhaps, had unrealistic expectations of the amenities available at a KOA. That said, for $70 a night the campsite should have a few more amenities. The site was spacious and nice. The bathroom/shower/water were within a reasonable distance, but the only additional amenity was a free train ride for the kids. There was no access to a power source, the playground was run down, and the other advertised games for kids were not as advertised. Overall, we had a great time but we will not stay at another KOA as the additional $40-$50 is not worth it.
Jun 26, 2025 · Brandon ConradWe had a premium pull through camper site for our 5th wheel camper. This place is quite expensive for the amenities offered. No pool, the public beach is close by but it’s swarmed by people that aren’t from the campground. We were told it was dog friendly only to find out that dogs aren’t allowed on the beach area. On top of that, one of the dogs that somebody else had brought wasn’t on a leash and jumped on our dog and my wife cutting her leg open. The 30 amp breaker on our site kept tripping. The sites are awfully small and on top of each other. The cabin site next to ours had a tremendous amount of people and they kept cutting through our site to get to theirs. The staff are nice and helpful. No issues with cleanliness. It’s certainly well kept. But with the sites being so small and crowded and no pool for the campground, it’s too expensive for us to want to come back any time soon.
Jul 13, 2025 · Tyler SalonichThis is a review of the mountainside site. My family had a great time here in our smaller travel trailer. The memorial highway, ice cream stand and a few good restaurants are close by and there is an awesome scenic beach where you can rent kayaks on Ausible river across the street. The on site trails were great for light hiking and walking the dogs. The activities were good. My son was stoked for the tie die shirt activity (extra cost) and the train ride. However the 3 hours of the DJ bumping music was a bit much for campers looking for some peace. There are two cons to this KOA and some additional information on the other reviews. Con 1: Prices are on the high side and the only thing to justify that is the large sites and cleanliness. Con 2: the lights on the exit road completely ruin the experience of camping for those parked nearby. WAY too bright. Maybe angle them towards the ground? And the other info you need to know is that most of the low reviews here are for the riverside site. Which is across the street and a glorified field for parking a camper. The mountainside site is the one to be at if you plan on being there for more than just sleeping.
