For Nebraskans, accessing Maple Creek Recreation Area typically involves traveling on state highways to reach Leigh, and then local county roads to the recreation area itself. While it's off the main interstate corridors, its location in northeastern Nebraska makes it a convenient drive for residents from cities like Columbus, Norfolk, and even Omaha or Lincoln, offering a relatively close escape to nature. The "trail around the lake" and the presence of a "lake" for fishing and walking paths signify that the recreation area is centered around a water body, providing a focal point for activities. As a recreation area, it is generally accessible by personal vehicle, and visitors should expect typical rural road conditions leading up to the site. The peaceful nature of the campground, as highlighted in reviews, is directly attributable to its somewhat secluded location, offering a true break from urban noise and traffic. This makes it an ideal destination for those seeking a quiet retreat without venturing too far off the beaten path in Nebraska.

Customer Reviews
Real nice campground, but trees need to mature, I'm sure really hot and no shade in summer. But in a few years will be nice. Nice park if you have kids. Trail around lake is very nice. Very quiet campground with very clean shower facilities and lots of outhouses and trash cans throughout campground. I would definitely recommend this place to camp
Love fishing this lake ! Got some good hot spots (sorry you will have to find them yourself :D ) Playgrounds are awesome , love the walking path around the lake , awesome wildlife too ! I will upload some pictures soon!
Very peaceful. Lots of open spots. Clean bathrooms and showers. NO SHADE. NO mature trees. Both 50 and 30 amp. Beautiful trails, nice playground.
We absolutely LOVE camping here! It’s a fairly new campground so not a lot of people know about it (it’s never been full or crowded the times we’ve gone) and the trees are not mature, so there is very little shade (if you’re hoping for that). The swimming area is kind of gross but we rarely go swimming when we camp. We do, however, fish and the fishing here is great! The bathrooms are always clean and stocked with toilet paper. You must have quarters in order to use the showers. There is also a nice, long walking trail around the lake! All in all, it’s a great campground!
Great place to camp and good fishing. Will definitely go back again
