Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage About

Are you a Mississippian RVer or boat owner seeking a quiet place to stay or secure storage in the Perkinston area? Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage offers a practical solution, particularly under its new ownership. For many locals, finding a blend of accessible camping and reliable storage for their valuable recreational vehicles is a key consideration. This park aims to provide just that, with a focus on accommodating both transient visitors and those needing a more permanent spot for their RV or boat.

Mississippi's Gulf Coast region is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, making RV and boat ownership popular. However, finding suitable and secure places to park or store these assets can sometimes be a challenge. Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage steps in to fill this need, striving to create a welcoming and functional environment. This article will provide a factual overview of what you can expect from this Perkinston establishment, from the perspective of a local Mississippian looking for a convenient and reliable option.

Introduction / Overview

Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage is a facility designed to cater to both RV campers and those in need of secure storage for their recreational vehicles and boats. It is currently operating under new ownership, which is a significant factor for prospective visitors and residents, as new management often brings renewed efforts for improvements and customer service. While it has a core base of "mostly long term residents," it also accommodates "short or long term" stays for those passing through or needing temporary lodging.

The park prides itself on being a "wonderful and quiet" place, suggesting a peaceful environment for relaxation. It aims to cover "the basics" for campers, providing essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Beyond camping, the inclusion of "Secure RV/ Boat Storage" in its name highlights a dual purpose, addressing a common need for locals to safely store their valuable leisure equipment when not in use. This combination makes it a versatile option for the Mississippi community.

Location and Accessibility

Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage is located at 70 10 Mile Rd, Perkinston, MS 39573, USA. Perkinston is a community in Stone County, Mississippi, known for its rural charm and proximity to natural attractions and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This location offers a balance of peaceful seclusion with reasonable accessibility to nearby towns and major routes.

Access via 10 Mile Road should be straightforward for RVs and vehicles towing boats. Being in Perkinston places the park within the greater Mississippi Gulf Coast region, allowing relatively easy drives to coastal activities, fishing spots, and local amenities in towns like Wiggins or Gulfport. For long-haul travelers, particularly those on routes like the Southern Tier cycling route (as mentioned in a review), its location can serve as a convenient and essential stop. However, as noted in a review, a significant point of concern for this location is that "most of the campground is in a high risk flood zone," and there have been past incidents of floodwaters, particularly during rainy seasons or tropical storms. This is a critical factor for accessibility and safety that prospective visitors, especially those staying long-term or during specific weather patterns, must consider and inquire about directly with the park management.

Services Offered

Based on customer reviews and the nature of an RV park and storage facility, Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage provides essential services for its guests and clients:

  • RV Camping Sites: The primary service is offering spaces for RVs, suitable for both "short or long term" stays. While not explicitly detailed, these sites likely include standard hookups (electric, water, sewer) essential for RV functionality.
  • Tent Camping: For non-RV travelers, the park offers "a good place to pitch tents," indicating it accommodates various forms of camping, providing a basic, comfortable spot for traditional campers.
  • Secure RV/Boat Storage: As implied by its name, a key service is secure storage for RVs and boats. This is invaluable for locals who need a safe place to park their vehicles when not in use, freeing up driveway space and providing peace of mind.
  • Basic Amenities: The park "has the basics covered," which includes "power, hot shower & laundry." These are crucial amenities for both short-term travelers and long-term residents, ensuring comfort and convenience.
  • Wi-Fi Access: "I think there is even WiFi" suggests that internet access is likely available, a common and highly desired amenity for staying connected while away from home.
  • Responsive Management: The mention of "Bill" being "kind enough to accommodate" and "working hard to fix" issues indicates a management team that is responsive and dedicated to improving the park for its residents.

Prospective guests should verify the availability and functionality of all amenities, especially given the mention of ongoing work to address previous issues.

Features / Highlights

Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage offers several features that appeal to its target audience, along with some important considerations:

  • Quiet Atmosphere: The park is consistently described as "wonderful and quiet," making it an attractive option for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the noise of more bustling areas. This tranquility is a significant highlight for many RVers and campers.
  • New Ownership and Improvements: The fact that the park is "under new ownership" and the owner "is working hard to fix" issues, such as uneven ground from past storms, signals a positive direction and commitment to enhancing the guest experience. This proactive approach can lead to a more comfortable and well-maintained environment over time.
  • Flexible Stay Options: The ability to accommodate "short or long term" stays is a major convenience, catering to a wide range of needs, from overnight travelers to those seeking an extended seasonal base.
  • Essential Basic Amenities: The provision of "power, hot shower & laundry" ensures that fundamental comfort needs are met, making it a suitable stop for those who value practicality over luxury.
  • Southern Tier Cyclist Friendly: The specific mention that it "will work" for Southern Tier cyclists highlights its suitability for this niche group, providing a necessary stop with basic provisions along a popular cycling route.
  • Secure Storage Component: Beyond camping, the secure RV and boat storage aspect provides a valuable service for local residents who need a reliable and safe place to store their recreational vehicles.

However, it is crucial to address the significant concern raised in a review: "Beware that most of the campground is in a high risk flood zone." The review details a "very frightening experience" during Tropical Storm Claudette, where "Flood waters came in around 4:30 am on June 19 and residents... barely had time to get out - at least two campers were destroyed." While the creek is noted as "nice," this flood risk, particularly during "rainy seasons," is a critical factor that must be carefully considered by all prospective guests, especially for long-term stays or during periods of heavy rainfall. Direct inquiry with management about flood mitigation efforts and emergency procedures is strongly advised.

Promotions or Special Offers

Specific promotions or special offers for Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage are not provided in the publicly available customer reviews. As an RV park that offers both short and long-term stays, it is common for such establishments to have tiered pricing, with more favorable rates for weekly or monthly commitments. Given the focus on "mostly long term residents," their extended-stay rates are likely competitive. For the secure RV and boat storage, pricing would typically be based on the size of the vehicle and the duration of storage.

For Mississippians interested in either camping or storage, the best approach is to contact Mill Creek Camp Ground and Secure RV/ Boat Storage directly. This will allow you to inquire about current daily, weekly, and monthly rates for RV sites, as well as pricing for their secure storage units. You can also ask about any potential discounts for new customers or extended contracts. Due to the flood risk highlighted in a review, it is also advisable to inquire about their policies regarding refunds or rebooking during flood events.

Beware that most of the campground is in a high risk flood zone. These pictures were taken June 19 in the aftermath of tropical storm Claudette. Flood waters came in around 4:30am on June 19 and residents (including apartment residents) barely had time to get out- at least two campers were destroyed. Very frightening experience and although the creek is nice, please be mindful that this is something you could encounter if you stay here, particularly during rainy seasons.

For Southern Tier cyclist this place will work. Not deluxe, beautiful camping but it has the basics covered: good place to pitch tents, power, hot shower & laundry. I think there is even WiFi

This place is a hidden gem in Stone county Mississippi. We rented a small studio apartment for our daughter. The place was spotless, the park is well-lit, and the facilities included on-site laundry room. The entire park was well-maintained and felt very safe. The residents were friendly. The owner was always available for questions and very helpful. This is a sweet little spot to stay and you will love it!

If you stay here in an rv/camper you'll be fine for the most part. Although you take a huge chance of getting your personal property stolen or damaged. Now if you stay in one of the apartments (which is rented out like motels) it's a different problem for you. There is a huge drug problem throughout the whole park, but the building is the worst. Folks will be fighting all hours of the night & day. Inside & out. It's full of mold, the floor is just painted concrete. There is only one hot water heater that you share with 6 other units as well as 2 public bathrooms located in the laundry room, so you don't have hot water all the time. The laundromat has washers & dryers but rarely work. Keep watch on your vehicle cause it will get broke into at some point. The new property owner doesn't care. Don't let the security camera sign fool you, it's only there to protect the personal interest of the owner. No cameras watch over the tenants and they're property. I could keep going but you should understand where your staying with the information I've provided here. Good luck to you.

My Mother inland rents her apartment here. For the price she pays and utilities and partially furnished. It's very wonderful. Its located right along the railroad tracks to it's front and to its back is a nice creek. It's really like one big family out there.
